Now available for auction is this 2004 Porsche 996 GT3 finished in Polar Silver Metallic. Named for the FIA racing class for which it was designed as a homologation vehicle, the original GT3 is often regarded as one of the best driving Porsche’s of all time.  This 2004 example showcases a host of rare and desirable factory options including Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) and a black full leather interior with extensive deviated stitching, additional leather upholstery, carbon/aluminum details, painted hardback Sport Seats, and Custom Tailoring.  It was originally sold in California where it had spent its life up until 2020 when it was purchased by the current owner.  Accompanied by a collection of records showing routine maintenance, this outstanding 996 GT3 commanded an original sticker price of over $133k and is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Illinois while showing just over 20k miles on the odometer.

This GT3 is finished in Polar Silver Metallic and features the optional Xenon Headlamp Package, a painted rear model designation, and yellow PCCB calipers.  It has also been modified with a Getty Design rear spoiler top scoop which helps to draw cold air into the engine compartment.  The seller reports that a clear paint protection film was installed when new and was only recently removed during their ownership within the last 400 miles.  Depicted imperfections include a chip on the leading edge of the hood, a small blemish above the Porsche crest, one chip on the ridge of each front fender, some minor road-going wear on the lower front bumper, and a small scratch on the passenger door.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  In 2003, the GT3 received its first update consisting of sharper new headlights, redesigned wheels, and aerodynamic revisions including a newly designed rear wing.  This example retains factory 18” GT3 alloy wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires dated 2014 in front and 2019 in the rear.

Inside, this GT3 has been generously appointed with a black full leather interior featuring Exclusive deviated stitching, aluminum instrument dials, seatbelts in Speed Yellow, carbon/aluminum inlays for the shifter and brake handle, carbon door sills with model insignias, a 3-spoke steering wheel in leather/carbon, and electric Sport Seats with painted backings and Porsche crested headrests.  Optional extended leather upholstery covers the headliner, sun visors, and rear center console.  The instrument panel, dash trim strip, and seatbelt outlets are painted to match the exterior, and the storage compartment features an embossed Porsche crest.  The driver is also provided with optional cruise control, A/C with full climate control, and Exclusive footwell lighting.  A complete list of factory options is provided below:

@fieanliem Great question. PCCB's are known to squeal a little more than a steel rotor but the increased initial bite and almost complete lack of brake dust are worth the cost of admission. Overall though, I would say that they are pretty quiet.

  • fieanliem (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

    Does the break squeal ?

  • 911-AL (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@Audiophilic It looked like a first generation 3M product which served it's purpose but it wasn't as transparent as fresh XPEL/Suntek etc. I intend to keep and have the car wrapped if it doesn't sell today. Everything was protected; hood, fenders, bumper, rear quarters, headlights etc.

  • Audiophilic (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

    Why was the PPF removed?

  • 911-AL (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Good morning I'm the seller and will be available to answer any questions as we approach the end of the auction in a little under five hours.

  • 911-AL (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Good morning. Underbody pictures and newly generated DME screenshots uploaded to the photos area. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your weekend. -Al

  • GlennG 2 years, 9 monthsago

this is the best optioned 996 GT3 I have ever seen.

  • 911-AL (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@911reasons It's funny, both seats are just about perfect without any wear. The leather is soft, not shiny, the perforated sections look new, the yellow deviated stitching is like new, and the painted backs with leather pockets look perfect. Not sure what they were talking about in that comment and never went back based on the condition that you can clearly see in the video.

  • 911reasons (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Can you show some pics of the water damage on the right seat that is identified in the inspection.

  • 911-AL (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@archstanton Thanks to everyone for the continued interest. Pcarmarket was able to add the two additional driving videos earlier today. Stay tuned for full underbody photos and a fresh DME report from this evening.
Correct, I'm owner 4/5, have to love carfax! I just ran a fresh durametric report. Current engine operating hours are right at 609.9 and there are still zero stage 2's. Also, no other codes are present and all of the emissions checks are in a ready state.

  • archstanton (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@Pcar-Al Looking at the Carfax report, it appears that the DME readout was done by owner 3, and then there was owner 4 who drove the car for <400 miles, which would probably be less than 10hr running time. How can you be sure that there are no range 2 overrevs? Are you also owner 4? This appears to be a great car and is well presented but I think you would help your cause by providing a current DME readout. Also, how many keys do you have for the car?

  • 911-AL (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@rxm2 Yes. Two driving videos should be posted shortly. The rear wing is 100% original. The Getty air scoop is painted to match and installed with double sided tape and is easily removable.

  • rxm2 2 years, 9 monthsago

Is the rear wing original to the car? What exactly is this modification to the wing?
    Thank you

  • rxm2 2 years, 9 monthsago

Thanks for the walk around videos. If possible can you post a driving video and under carriage pictures.

@911-AL @Pcar-Al Thank you for the prompt response. Its what these cars were meant for. Owned one for 5 years and it was one of the best track cars I ever owned. Its the reason why Porsche cars got the reputation of being the car you could drive from the dealership to the track for an entire day and then bring you home safe.
Great options on this and thanks for the info on the brakes - that is exactly what I did with mine. GLWA

  • 911-AL (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@GentlemanRacer I was told that it was taken out on some road course in for DE events when it lived in California. Nothing competitive or wheel to wheel. I didn't mind given the extensive maintenance and having been protected by clearbra. Also, I was told that the pccb rotors were stored during those events as a precaution. Last, the main diligence item that got me across the finish line was the impeccable condition and zero stage two overrevs.

I do not have any records to indicate an modification of the cooling lines prior to my ownership.

I hope that helps and answers your questions!

    Al

  • GentlemanRacer (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

    Beautiful colour.
May I ask if the car has ever been tracked?
And have the coolant fittings been pinned or replaced?
    May thanks

  • 911-AL (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@mrexroat001 I do not have the original sticker but Porsche does sell the COA's I just never got around to it.

  • mrexroat001 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Do the original window sticker and Porsche COA still accompany the car?

  • kobyh15 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@JuanitoChe56 No changes since the last time the car was smogged with flying colors in California.

  • JuanitoChe56 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Any recent changes that would affect passing emissions testing in California ? Thanks

  • Neddy 2 years, 9 monthsago

Talk about a car that ticks all the boxes...color, PCCB's, mileage isn't too low nor too high, and oh my goodness, the sublime driving experience...raw handling and sound!!! The first gen GT3 has already proven itself to be a true legend!!

  • 911-AL (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

I also want to point out that the car does not have any stage 2 over revs in the DME which is a common diligence item. This reading was last taken last summer (~400 miles ago).

  • 911-AL (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Hello and I'm excited about the auction. I'll be around all week to answer questions. I will be posting a full set of underbody photos tomorrow and the walk around video will be up shortly.

I do not have the factory mufflers but the car still does have the OEM catalytic converters so the only thing required to go back to completely stock would be the mufflers, tips, and exhaust manifolds.

I will post a complete set of paint meter photos that show consistent paint thickness across the entire car in the 6-7 mil range.

There are not any leaks whatsoever however I would be happy to bring the car for a thorough PPI at a shop of an interested party's choosing.

    Al

  • rxm2 2 years, 9 monthsago

    Hello,
very nice car. Do you have the original factory exhaust? Could you please post undercarriage pictures? Do you have any paint meter readings?
    Any leak from the RMS?
    Thanks
