Now up for auction is this 2004 Porsche 996 GT3 finished in Carrara White over a black leather interior.  Named for the FIA racing class for which it was designed as a homologation vehicle, the original GT3 is commonly regarded among the greatest water-cooled Porsches of all time.  This 2004 example was factory optioned with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), A/C with full climate control, Porsche crested headrests, and Custom Tailoring (special wishes that require further communication).  A major engine-out service was performed within the last 5k miles which included welding of the coolant pipes as well as the installation of a new clutch and Guard limited-slip differential.  Having also recently received a full 30k-mile service in preparation for sale, this highly sought-after 996 GT3 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with just under 30k miles on the odometer.

This GT3 comes finished in nonmetallic Carrara White and features optional Xenon headlamps as well as yellow-painted PCCB calipers.  Distinguishing features of the GT3 include flared rocker panels, a model-specific front fascia, and a fixed rear wing.  Clear paint protection film has been applied over the front fenders, bumper, hood, and roof in addition to a ceramic coating over the full exterior.  Some paint chips are noted around the edges of the wheel arches and the seller reports the right rear quarter panel to have been previously refinished to address a scratch.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  This 996 retains factory 18” GT3 alloy wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires dated from 2017.  The front tires are said to have approximately 30% tread remaining with 10% left in the rear.

Inside, this GT3 highlights a black leather interior with Exclusive Porsche crested headrests, a thickened steering wheel, and A/C with full climate control.  Some minor wear is noted on the driver’s seat and the seller confirms all instrumentation and accessories to be functioning properly.

The 996 GT3 is equipped with a race-derived 3.6L Mezger flat-six paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.  This naturally aspirated engine sends as much as 380 HP and 284 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4 seconds.  Upgraded Tarret billet lower control arms have been installed and a major engine-out service was performed within the last 5k miles during which time the coolant pipes were welded, the clutch was replaced, and an upgraded Guard limited-slip differential was installed.  The car is said to have seen a few days of track use about 5 years ago while the owner was obtaining his D.E. license.  A full 30k-mile service was carried out in preparation for sale and the seller adds that the car consumes less than half a quart of oil over 1k miles.  Leak-down and compression tests have been recently performed as well as a DME report which is provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include original owner's manuals and window sticker, some service records, and a clean title.  Fully serviced and well equipped, this increasingly desireable 996 GT3 is just waiting to be driven. Do not let this opportunity pass you by.

@teamgomez @teamgomez, call it all you want. I stated the fact and was the fact and nothing else. I'm not here to jeopardize anyone's reputation. What was said was the conversation that took place. Did not make a bit up.

No need to be a bench clearer when you're not in the game.

  • teamgomez 2 years, 7 monthsago

I've been hard-wired not to step over trash without picking it up thus I'm compelled to call BS on Florio20's insinuation of seller skulduggery.

Point in case with some big-league reference: You cannot intentionally throw a fastball at somebody's head and, upon missing, say you really didn't mean to. I'd charge the mound...but the seller has such a solid reputation in the San Diego Porsche community that he doesn't need to.

Mark has built and passed along too many fine steeds to risk trying to 'pull one over' on anybody. Makes me wonder if somebody is simply trying to poison the well?

  • Helix10 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Are the leak down and compression numbers available? Thank you

  • skidmarks (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

i quoted no labor or shipping on top of the $400 because i didnt offer to do it. If i had no problem doing it i would have thrown it in with the deaL. $400 more is nothing to close a very expensive car deal.

  • Florio20 2 years, 7 monthsago

@skidmarks understood. I'm not accusing you hiding anything, but found rather odd to offer that "service" like no big deal. Certainly got me worried about the real history of the car. Regardless in today's market condition I'm sure you will do well. Best of luck.

  • skidmarks (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Florio20 When I bought the car i was told there was overrevs. I never tried to hide what i was told. I never bothered to scan it back then because I did a leakdown test and it passed just fine. I scanned it for the first time a couple weeks ago and saw there was no overrevs. When I said you can have overrevs removed by a third party I was not offering to get it done. $400 is nothing when trying to close a car sale.

  • Florio20 2 years, 7 monthsago

@skidmarks, I spoke with you on this car when you had it listed last year. I decided to pass because you said for $400 bucks you can have the overrav record wiped from the DME. Your last statement is a bit interesting. So did you reflash it?? You are certainly capable of...

  • skidmarks (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Service invoice shows clutch is a Sachs Lightweight. I did talk to a former mechanic on the car and was informed it did have range 2 over revs in the DME when he was servicing the car . No paperwork on it and not sure how many range 2. I cant say how they disappeared. Possible reflash.

@Craftsmen I have built a reputation as a Porsche mechanic that leans towards under promising and over delivering. Driven pretty hard on a spirited road trip it might use a half qt in 1k miles but ive gone 2k miles of normal use and found oil level stayed the same.

  • skidmarks (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@craina There is a thick folder with invoices that cover coolant pipes weld, clutch, water pump and Guard diff install. All in the last 6k miles

  • skidmarks (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@lsaxen Absolutely. I went over the panel with a paint meter and a magnet and found no signs of it having any filler in it. There is no sanding scratch or fisheyes. I did buy this car as a keeper 4 years ago and I am pretty fussy with my stuff. Google me for more. Mark Kinninger.
The only reason i sold the car a year ago was I found a white 997.2 GT3 to fill its spot. FYI i am helping the new owner sell the car by running the auction.

May want to consider removing pics 79-83 which are all for a 1986 Porsche!!! 10 Previous owners? Now that's a hand full!!

    beautiful car.
its my understanding this car has had some paint work, can you talk to us a bit about that?
