We are pleased to present this 2004 Porsche 996 Carrera finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Black Full Leather interior. This 2004 example was acquired by the seller from Porsche of Salt Lake City, and was ordered from the factory with supple leather seating front and rear, the HI-FI Sound package, 18” Turbo look wheels, the Xenon Headlamp Package, and more. It also features Bilstein coilover suspension, and an upgraded IMS bearing and a refreshed rear main seal. It is now being offered here for auction by its seller out of California, while showing just under 22k miles on the odometer.

This 996 is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic, and is protected by paint protection film which covers the front bumper and the forward half of the front trunk and the front fenders. Detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX.  Notable exterior options include Xenon headlights, rear model designation delete, and 18” Turbo Look II Wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The wheels come dressed in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires which were installed within the last 2k miles.

Inside, the Black Full Leather interior features the optional Power seat package, Supple Leather on the both front and rear seats, heated front seats, and lumbar support for the driver’s seat. The optional HI-FI sound package provides a crisp powerful listening experience.

The second-generation 996 is equipped with a 3.6L flat-six engine that produces as much as 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission. The IMS bearing is said to have been addressed along with the installation of a new rear main seal at approximately 19k miles. The seller also reports that the suspension has been upgraded with Bilstein PSS10 coilovers by S-CAR-GO of Marin County, California. The CARFAX highlights 17 service history records dating back as far as 2003, and most recently an oil and filter service was completed using Swepco oil.

This sale will include a clean title. Finished in classic color combination and featuring a long service history, this low mileage 996 is not to be overlooked.

The most analog 996 is actually the early ones 99s, less than 3000 lbs, cable throttle cars.

@CABRIOLET-INT Engaging is the right word. I've owned 5 BMW's and have driven 997's, 992's and 991's. None were as engaging as my 2004. The total driving experience is very important to me and I feel every little thing. The 2004 911 is wonderful and iconic. Whoever wins this bid will be very happy once on the road. Good luck to both of you. Cheers.

@marcromano I could not agree with you more. I own a 50th anniversary 911 (2014) and although it does everything extremely well its not nearly as engaging of an experience as driving this 2004 911!

    I have a 2004 40 Jahre (40th anniversary).
The 2004 911's are very pure. The mostly analog driving experience is all 911.
The interior and seat design is perfect.
Handling is tight and responsive. The flat 6 is aggressive and reliable.
This is a pure Porsche 911 with low mileage. Market value continues to go up if well cared for.

@lqueremel Thanks for your question about the infamous "IMS" Bearing. Out of caution and in preparing the car for a CPO Porsche of Salt Lake City replaced the IMS and RMS at same time. I can forward you the invoice which has the part no. It does not specify Manufacture but does list a part no. Repair completed May 15th, 2020 at 19,386 original miles.

@lqueremel Thank you for your interest. I would have no problem with you scheduling a PPI
prior to auction close. I can assure you the car is in top mechanical condition and was recently completely inspected and serviced at S-CAR-GO Racing in Marin County. The closest Porsche dealer is also in Marin County Porsche of Marin located in Mill Valley, California.

Regarding transport I most definitely can assist with enclosed transport to your location. I just traded my 997.2 for a 2014 911 50th Anniversary in Florida. The transport company was superb, prompt and delivered damage free.

Also, any records around the IMS bearing? Was it the replacement, the solution, LN Engineering or some other manufacturer?

  • lqueremel (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

@Seller are you open to a PPI at my expense at your nearest Porsche dealer? Also would you be open to support shipping?
