We are pleased to present this exceptional 2004 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S Cabriolet.  Featuring a 6-speed manual transmission, this 4S also sports the rare combination of Carrara White paint over a black full leather interior with exclusive deviated stitching in red.  Highlighting a clean 1-owner history while showing just over 21k miles on the odometer, this beautifully preserved 996 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

The Carrara White finish is reported to be in excellent original condition with the exception of a few very minor stone chips on the front end.  This 4S model features details derived from the 911 Turbo, including its wide fenders and more aggressive front and rear bumpers. The black cabriolet top is said to be fully functional and in great shape.  This example rides on 18” Turbo Twist wheels featuring “4S” logo center caps.  The Michelin Pilot Sport tires are said to be in good condition with the front tires remaining original and the rear tires dated from 2009.

Inside, the black full leather interior is specially optioned with exclusive deviated stitching in red. Other noteworthy features include heated front seats, the Bose High-End Sound Package, Xenon Headlamp Package, aluminum instrument dials, and a shifter and brake handle in leather/aluminum.  The original radio remains in place and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly.

The naturally aspirated 3.6 L flat-six engine develops 315 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque, which is fed through a 6-speed manual gearbox to all four wheels. All scheduled maintenance is said to have been kept up to date including routine fluid and filter changes.  Both radiators have also been newly replaced in January of 2021.  There is no record of an IMS bearing upgrade, and the seller indicates this 996 to be in superb driving condition.

Included in the sale of this low-mileage 996 Carrera 4S Cabriolet is a spare tire, air pump, tool roll, and clean title. Don’t miss this chance to own a truly well-presented 6-speed Porsche 996 in a tasteful factory configuration.

@Cristma Sure. I'll have a DME report tomorrow. That is if everyone shows up to work. A big storm is coming this way. There is no ceramic coating. Just well cared for and detailed often.

  • Cristma (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@seller - Beautiful car! If still in the shop, possible to pull a DME over rev report? Also, finish looks great. Any ceramic coat or clear film on this car?

@DriverM just want to give you props for the great marketing on this car. The video was great, I’ve watched it a few times. I’m near by in the Hudson Valley, had I not just bought a 07 Targa, I’d be all over this car. Good luck!

@DriverM Perfect. Thanks for the explanation @DriverM . Much appreciated.

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@DriverM excellent choice to just replace them both. When I’m evaluating any 996 the condition of the radiators is literally the first place I look. The status of the radiators can give some feedback on the history and how well the 911 has been maintained and cared for.

    BRAVO for the replacement!

  • DriverM (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@superfly The car was not overheating. There was a slight smell of antifreeze and we could not determine where it was coming from as there were no visible leaks. I brought it to Speedsport and they tested it and found out after it was at operating temperature that the leak was coming from the drivers side radiator. It was a small leak but the radiators can not be repaired but only replaced. They suggested that if the drivers side was bad, there was a possibility that the passenger side might go bad. Since the nose was already off of the car, there was not much additional cost to replace both other than the cost of the additional radiator. That was not cheap but it's the way I prefer to do things. It was preventive maintenance. Please advise if you like any other information.

  • superfly (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@Mercyhealth for sure. Thanks, but I was wondering why the seller decided it was necessary to replace them before the sale. Maybe the car was overheating? Was hoping the seller could tell us why.

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@superfly front radiators in most 911s including the 996 can require replacement. Road and biologic debris gets lodged in the front of the radiators and then decays there. This decay damages the screens. The replacement is a definite positive feature of this 996.

  • superfly (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

Beautiful 996. Can you tell us why the radiators needed replacing? Thanks

  • DriverM (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@rhmoritz Yes. The rear spoiler does deploy at speed. If you look closely at the video, you can see it in the up position.

  • rhmoritz (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

Does the rear spoiler deploy at speed?

  • DriverM (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@Mercyhealth Paint meter readings were taken today and will be posted by Pcar soon. Unfortunately the new radiators were installed but not finished so I could not do a cold start. I should be able to do that on Monday. The car is at Speedsport Tuning in Danbury so if anyone is interested in doing a PPI, please call Marc Carson @ Speedsport to arrange.

@Mercyhealth Thanks for your kind words. I will try to shoot paint meter readings and an additional short video of the start up showing the gauges as well. The new radiators are being installed at Speedsport so that might not be possible depending on the progress they have made. I will advise.

@DriverM wow thank you for bringing this awesome 996 C4S. The right leather stitched in red is a pleasure to look at. Very good to excellent presentation with riding and convertible function video.

We will see how many IMS comments we will have to dredge through in the next 5 days. My opinion is you do what’s best for you.

    One request and one question:
    - start up video of the instrument cluster

    - Almost 17 year old car with 21k on the clock with 3 recorded oil changes. Does that work for everybody? Which is more important the the time between changes or the miles? I really don’t know.

Great whip roll on with your bad self 996!!

Beautiful spec on this C4S. Just budget $5k for IMS retrofit, new tires and alignment and enjoy the drive!

  • Txporsche 3 years, 3 monthsago

What a nice car! I have a low mileage 2003 C4 Cab and could not be happier with it. These cars are extremely reliable. They are very fast and the C4 makes them ride on rails. The Cabriolet top is wonderfully air tight and quiet. Make sure to use the wind diffuser with the top done. Virtually no wind noise and zero buffeting when it’s in place.

The only caution is the IMS bearing. DO NOT risk not having it replaced (about $3k including new clutch plate and water pump while it’s apart). When that’s completed, you will have one of the best Porsche values on the road.

  • DriverM (seller) 3 years, 3 monthsago

Thanks for checking out our 2004 Porsche C4S. I love these cars and believe they are a fantastic value in the Pcar market. They are comfortable, reliable and affordable.
This particular example is a one owner car with 21k documented miles and no accidents ever. I will be providing paint meter readings. The color combination of Carrera White with full Black leather and custom ordered Red contrast stitching works beautifully.
Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer them as soon as possible.
Please bid with confidence. This car will not disappoint.

Beautiful car, I've been looking for a while for my first Porsche and this would is just what I'm looking for. I'll be watching, Thank you

  • Flyingchef47 (registered bidder) 3 years, 3 monthsago

What a beautiful specimen of what is likely to rise as a classic in the next few years. Although I am sure some will make a big deal out of the lack of an IMS solution, it will allow the buyer to make their own choice. If I were in the market, I would jump at this one in a heartbeat.
