Unveiled during the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, the GranSport represented a progression from the initial Maserati Coupe crafted by Giorgetto Giugiaro. It boasted enhancements including a more athletic interior, refined aerodynamics, and upgraded engine, transmission, and suspension systems. Pairing an F1-style Cambiocorsa transmission with its Ferrari-derived F136 R V8, this 2005 example comes finished in Grigio Touring (Silver) over black/grey upholstery. Showing just over 31k miles on the odometer, this Maserati is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Kansas.
The Giorgetto Giugiaro/Frank Stephenson-designed bodywork is finished in Grigio Touring Silver and presents revised front and rear bumpers, side skirts, underbody paneling, and a rear lip spoiler, front & rear chrome grilles, and polished quad exhaust tips. Other details include xenon headlights with washers, power mirrors, red brake calipers, Maserati Trident badging on the C-pillar, and Giugiaro Design badging on the rocker panels. This example has been modified with aftermarket angel-eye headlights and a black finish to the factory 19” wheels dressed in Hankook Ventus Evo2 tires from 2018 with near-full remaining tread reported. The seller notes a minor scratch which is shown in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The contoured sport bucket seats are adorned with black/grey leather upholstery and TechnoCloth inserts, complemented with a matching dashboard, center stack, and door panels. The center console, door sill guards, and door panels are decorated with carbon fiber trim along with the steering wheel, which features perforated leather grips and aluminum paddle shifters. Amenities include power-adjustable heated seats, automatic climate control, drilled aluminum pedals, blue-faced instrumentation, and a central analog clock. The seller states that upgraded Alpine speakers have been fitted, and all gauges, electronics, and accessories are in proper working order.
The GranSport is equipped with a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter F136-R V8, derived from the Ferrari F430, and features dry-sump lubrication, a redesigned exhaust system, and upgrades to the intake manifold and valve seats. As much as 396 HP and 333 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed Cambiocorsa automated manual transmission, allowing the GranSport to reach 60 MPH from a standstill in 4.8 seconds with a claimed top speed of 180 MPH. The GranSport also received a 10mm lower ride height than a standard 4200GT along with the Skyhook adaptive suspension system and a “Sport” button that changes the damper program, gearshift speed, and accelerator response. The seller adds that a cat-back Tubi exhaust system has been fitted. In addition to the detailed CARFAX report, the seller adds that noteworthy service items have included the following:

- May 2021 (28,171 miles) – spark plugs, belts, air filter, valve cover gaskets replaced, A/C system recharged, passenger window micro switch replaced, clutch relay switch checked, Formula Dynamics module installed, angel eye headlights installed, engine oil and filter changed, brakes checked, suspension checked, alignment performed, emergency brake adjusted
- March 2021 – A/C system recharged, tires placed

Congrats 928SSS-! You bought a great car that is as cheap as they will ever get. We will look back in a few years and be amazed that you could buy a GranSport for $20k. I think this is one of the most underrated and undervalued cars out there. It's basically a Ferrari 2+2 coupe in my eyes. I am glad I got to experience and enjoy this car and hope you do as well. @sfmonster23 , The only thing I have done to the car is upgrade the original factory speakers with Alpine speakers all round because a couple of the original speakers were buzzing due to deterioration of the foam surround on the speaker cone which is common.
@sfmonster23 Thanks for your question. I noticed that as well. That was before I owned the car but I assume that they must have had some sort of leak and finally resolved it. The AC works great and I have not had to do anything to it in the year time frame that I have owned the car. One thing I forgot to ad is that it had a brand new alternator installed just before I got the car as well so that is a good thing. The car has performed great for me the entire time I have had the car and I have not had to do anything to it. I have put around 2k trouble free miles on it in the year I have owned it. That says a lot about how much I enjoyed this car as I have around 40 cars so I do not put many miles on one particular car.
@Seller - The service history noted in the listing says the A/C was recharged in March, May and June 2021. What was going on with the A/C, and does it currently function properly, blow cold, etc.?

@catdog2. Thanks for your interest and questions. The current exhaust does not change sound in sport mode. Be sure to watch my YouTube video overview to hear current exhaust inside and outside of car. The exhaust was changed before I got the car. I didn’t realize the stock exhaust was valved. I just went to YouTube and listened to examples of stock exhaust. Now I know why people change them. It’s way too quiet closed and way too loud open. I think the current exhaust sound and volume is perfect under all conditions. I prefer to drive the car in Sport mode most all of the time unless just steady state highway cruising. I am guessing just the rear muffler is changed out and the rest is stock but I will get the car on a lift and take more pictures and upload asap. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
