Now up for auction is this 2005 Porsche 997 Carrera S Coupe finished in Black over a black full leather interior.  Representing the launch model year for the 997 generation, this Carrera S commanded an original MSRP of almost $100k and features desirable factory options including Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), the Sport Chrono Package Plus, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and Adaptive Sports Seats.  Showing approximately 38k miles on the odometer and equipped with a sought-after 6-speed manual transmission, this Carrera S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Oregon.

This Carrera S comes finished in Black contrasted by yellow-painted calipers included with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB).  The factory 19" Carrera S wheels come fitted with Goodyear tires dated from 2019.  The car is said to have spent its life in the Pacific Northwest and the seller describes the finish to have been kept in excellent condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this 997 features a black full leather upholstery with heated Adaptive Sport Seats and a Sport Chrono stopwatch dial mounted on the center dashboard. Other features include the Bose High-End Sound Package, automatically dimming mirrors, and a navigation module for the PCM system.

This Carrera S is powered by a 3.8L flat-six engine rated at 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission providing a 0-60 time of approximately 4.5 seconds.  The Sport Chrono Package Plus allows the driver to optimize performance characteristics while the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) provide excellent fade-resistant stopping power. All available maintenance history is shown on the CARFAX report including replacement of the front crankshaft oil seal in 2006 and repair to the rear spoiler in 2008.

This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, and a clean title.  With nearly $20k in original factory options including rare ceramic brakes, this generously equipped and sparingly enjoyed 6-speed Carrera S awaits its next owner.

Seller, is this the GT3 steering wheel upgrade or standard?

I have basically this exact car in cab with regular brakes. It is so so awesome (especially with the top down).

These 2005 997.1s are great because the IMS is serviceable. So whatever side of the debate you are one, this one gives you the chance to upgrade the IMS (It sounds like this one has already been updated? but I don't see the sticker) and still have the updated 997 looks (read: headlights). This example looks to be in really great shape also. Good luck to all and congrats to the new owner.

@991gt3 The car has PPF on the front bumper and the mirrors. It also has the factory stone guards. There are a few minor rock chips on the hood.

One other question: does this car have Sport Exhaust? I don’t see it listed on the build sheet but I’m not sure it was standard on the launch edition cars or with the sport chrono +.

  • gpmotors (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@smdand The build date is 6/04. The car is in very nice condition, no flaws on the exterior or interior. The paint is all original, there are no indications that the car had any sort of body work done (I will provide paint meter readings). There are no service items that need to be performed and there is no excess oil consumption. Bid with confidence!

  • smdand (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Please provide the build date on this car. Are there any known cosmetic issues inside or out? Any body repairs not listed in CarFax or the write up? Any service issues that need attention? These cars have a reputation fir consuming oil. How often do you need to add a quart? Great looking car—- just need some more details to bid with confidence.

  • gpmotors (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@zldk54 The car doesn't have a short shifter. @JDPcAr33 There was a LN engineering IMS bearing installed June of 2016 according to the Porsche Beaverton service advisor.

  • gpmotors (seller) 2 years, 1 monthago

@Falcon01 The brakes are in good shape, I'd say the front pads have 60% left and the rears 70%. The rotors themselves are in good condition as well.

  • JDPcAr33 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Thank you for the information that you have attached regarding the IMS Update. It's still pretty vague. Can you specifically define what they did for the "IMS Update" as referenced in your listing. Do you have the build date on the motor? And finally, can you give the date of the service memo that was provided from Sunset Imports?

  • zldk54 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Does the replacement of the IMS has warranty labor/part also what brand was it replaced to?

Does it have the short throw factory shifter? I believe the Launch edition came as standard equipment.

  • Falcon01 (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

I'm curious as to the condition of the brakes. No mention of them ever being replaced. Probably close to the end of their life if they're original - and Carbon Ceramics on these are like $10k.

If that IMS was done you’re gonna need to verify dates on the motor date build… 2005 1/2 was the year they went to a non-serviceable bearing… I’m just saying someone will ask.

@beelarr I will be attaching a document that goes over some of the major maintenance history that was done in recent years. The car has been serviced at Porsche Beaverton since new according to the Porsche service manager. Most recent service was an oil change that was done June of 2021. @bbkat The IMS update was done June of 2016 at 29,910 miles.

  • bbkat (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Very nice! And great opening bid.

Have to ask about the IMS. Hopefully without starting a debate about whether it's relevant or not. Just asking if you know whether it's been replaced or not. Thx

  • beelarr (registered bidder) 2 years, 1 monthago

Great looking car. Do you have any service records or can you give us a breakdown of what has recently been serviced? Thanks
