Up for auction is this 2005 Porsche 997 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Black over a Sand Beige interior with leather seats. Marking the inaugural model year for the 997 generation, this 6-speed Carrera Cabriolet comes optioned with the Sport Chrono Package Plus, Bose High-End Sound Package, Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, and other desirable features amounting to an original sticker price of over $88k. It had remained under the care of its second owner from 2007 up until 2020 when it was acquired by the seller. A detailed history of maintenance is said to accompany the sale including a major 60k-mile service carried out recently with new brake pads and rotors. Now showing just over 63k miles on the odometer, this 997 is being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
This 997 is finished in nonmetallic Black with a matching black cabriolet top. Some road-going chips are noted on the front end as well as light swirl marks in the paint commensurate with the car's age and mileage. The front fog light lenses have also begun to fade, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This 997 rides on factory 19” Carrera III wheels with optional colored Porsche center crests and Continental Extreme Contact tires that are said to have been mounted four years ago and retain approximately 50% tread.
Inside, you will find a Sand Beige interior with heated leather seats, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel in leather, and the Bose High-End Sound Package with a remote 6-disc CD changer. The Power Seat Package is also equipped along with the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package and a Sport Chrono stopwatch on the center dashboard. Some scratches are reported on the center console as well as wear marks on the ashtray cover and handbrake lever. A Bluetooth adapter has been added to the factory PCM system and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
This first-generation 997 Carrera is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine paired with a desirable 6-speed manual gearbox. As much as 325 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque are delivered to the rear wheels, providing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5 seconds. A collection of maintenance records is said to accompany the sale and the seller reports that a major 60k-mile service has been recently completed including new brake pads, rotors, and refinishing of the calipers in red.
This sale will include a set of two keys, the original owner's manuals and leather pouch, a collection of records, and a clean title. A nicely presented example of the inaugural 997 model, this 6-speed Carrera Cabriolet is not to be overlooked.

@RussellWitt It would have been better to show the temp gauge when starting the car to show that it was in fact a cold start.

@Tardugno @Tardugno, Hello. No leaks or wetness - please check out the undercarriage pics that were added late. I know the 2nd owner (since 2007) who I bought car from did not have any paint work done. It looks original everywhere including the noise.
@RussellWitt Any leaks/ wetness underneath or in and around the engine? Original paint? Any repaint or spray anywhere?

@Delmenhorst @Delmenhorst, I can get videos of start and top operation. No IMS or Rear main seal work has been done to my knowledge. No oil analysis has been done.
Questions: Are there videos available for a cold start and the top being raised and lowered?
What is the status of the rear main seal, and the intermediate shaft bearing, if resolved how and when?
During the major 60k mile service was an oil analysis test done, were discoveries made during that servive you addressed what were they?

Some of the questions I have will have been answered when the car sold to the present seller in 2020, do I have to contact PC to get those comments?
@Delmenhorst Hello,I saw your post about the pictures, but I assumed that Pcar would address that. The pictures are pretty high res. on my end, so I am not sure how to help you there. Maybe Pcar will chime in on that. Also, I'm not sure I can comment on the bidding, but usually these auctions don't get rolling until closer to the last day. My short term ownership should have nothing to do with the quality of the car for sale. Heck, if I had a dollar for every Porsche I bought and sold over the years I'd have enough money to buy another Porsche! LOL
What am I missing here, I’m missing a reply to my previous question, and are the low bids a result of the seller parting with it shortly after acquiring it? I’ll be doing the same thing shortly since I purchased a nice Boxter on this site a few months ago and will be selling it since the car is too small for me, I’m terribly uncomfortable. @NineThirty No damage to the top. I can take a closer picture of that area. That is the wear area on the these 911 tops , as that were it folds up. Has a little different texture, but not damaged or torn.
I bought it with great intentions of driving it a lot.....but I have two porsche race cars, a Cayman Inerseries and a newly acquired '85 930 turbo. The turbo is just demanding all my spare time (and money) and the 911 is just sitting.
Someone tell me how to see any details in the photos it seems all are low resolution. Thanks
