We are pleased to offer this 2005 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S Coupe finished in Seal Grey Metallic.  Among the very last models produced for the 996 generation, this 2005 Carrera 4S came generously equipped at an original sticker price of over $96k with a Graphite Grey full leather interior, Bose High-End Sound Package, and the extremely rare Aerokit option.  The IMS bearing is said to have been previously replaced and other items addressed in recent years include repair of the coolant system, new brakes, a new clutch, and flywheel.  Currently showing just under 36k miles on the odometer, this 6-speed Carrera 4S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

This 996 comes finished in Seal Grey Metallic and sports the wide bodywork of the 911 Turbo along with a distinctive rear reflector band unique to the 4S model.  Also equipped is the rare factory Aerokit (XAH) which adds flared side skirts along with a front spoiler and rear wing.  Xenon headlamps are included with the Technic Package along with colored Porsche crest center caps.  Some minor rock chips are noted on the hood and front bumper, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This C4S rides on a set of 19” Sport Techno wheels dressed in Sumitomo HTR ZIII tires.

Inside, this 996 features a premium Graphite Grey full leather interior with an Alcantara headliner and the optional Technic Package which adds heated front seats and the Bose High-End Sound Package.  Standard equipment includes power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, Porsche CDR23 radio, and an electric sliding sunroof.  Some wear is depicted on the driver’s doorsill and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

This 4S is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine that sends up to 315 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Compared to the standard Carrera 4, the 4S offers a lower, more firmly tuned suspension as well as the larger red-painted aluminum monobloc fixed brake calipers of Turbo model.  Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and an Automatic Braking Differential (ABD) were also equipped as standard.  Service records show new brake pads and rotors to have been purchased in 2019 along with a new flywheel, clutch kit, and pilot bearing.  An invoice from May of 2020 also shows the coolant system to have been repaired with a new breather tube and expansion tank.  Corresponding records are provided in the gallery and the seller states that the IMS bearing had been replaced at some point under prior ownership.

This sale will include original owner's manuals, service records, and a clean title. Sporting a rarely-seen factory Aerokit and desirable 6-speed manual transmission, this low-mileage 2005 Carrera 4S presents an opportunity that is not to be missed.

@OakMan No, unfortunately we do not, we were under the impression that this was the oem front lip.

  • AMGMD (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@signalMTB We could absolutely replace the tires before shipping out the vehicle as well as an oil change, everything you see on the carfax listed in the ad is on the current one, there is not anything new on there. Tires have at least another 30-35% thread which is why we have no replaced them plus each person has their own tire preference. Thanks.

@signalMTB my eyes are not that great. You just have to add that to the cost of new ownership. Hopefully the last oil change was not done at a Kwik Kar lube shop. Not the place a real Porsche enthusiast would necessarily have that service done.

Data taken from Classic.com show the last million dollars spent on 996 C4Ss (all in 2021) average out to about 41.5k. That’s not including juice to the house. My final bid will take that into consideration minus the work I would do on this vehicle.

At some point the front spoiler has been changed. Do you the original areokit front spoiler?

  • signalMTB (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@mercyhealth is correct on the tire date code (looks to be 28th week of 2013) ... Good eyes!
CarFax shows tires being replaced in April 2014 at 9400 miles, and undercarriage pics show them nearing the wear indicators. Seller, as a dealer, have any alliances with nearby shops that could replace tires at a dealer discount prior to shipping out if it sells? Similar question for an oil service, I'm not seeing a recent one (maybe you know??)? Just trying to get a real sense of any / all deferred maintenance to bake that into my bids here.

@pulpo I did ask once and it is a legitimate question unlike why are the wheels spinning backwards, Thank you for giving me permission to ask one question

  • AMGMD (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Mercyhealth The tailpipe just needed a slight adjustment, might of been moved a bit during parking or something, it “snapped” right in place with a slight push, looks straight, there is nothing wrong with any of the engine mounts, car is very smooth. Thanks.

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@pulpo “These auctions are as-is”. HARDLY

It is very difficult to buy a car from 1500 miles away without seeing, hearing , and driving them. This is what makes platforms like Pcarmarket so incredibly valuable

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@AMGMD thank you for the undercarriage pictures. To me these show a nice dry under surface with no leaks especially to the bottom of the bell housing where one can find oil from bad IMs or rms issues. So my concerns are relieved as far as the IMS issue. And I totally agree with you that the clutch change would have to be done with IMS mitigation. Also the bushings and control arms look very good (no visible cracks in the rubber) with intact mufflers and cats. All all rubber boots looks very good. Again thank you.

My final concern would be the position of the tail pipes. Picture 5 along with walk around video are different than picture 71. Has there been any work done to make that happen or is it because the car’s weight has been lifted off the engine?

  • pulpo (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

I think what irks SignalMTB, myself and other serious users of these sites is the looky-loos commenting to demonstrate their vast car knowledge and never making a serious bid. I get that they are a part of the community and can help buyers, but they are annoying. These auctions are as-is. You can ask once if they have documentation, then move on. The price will reflect the ad, you don't need to tell the seller that. It comes off as trying to influence others not to bid so you can get a better price, and it's not a good look.

So, lets see. This car is easily worth 45k if the IMS has been done. And a couple grand less if it has not been done. Are any of the names here questioning the work being done actually going to bid anywhere close to those numbers when the time comes? Or are you just here to try to flex your Porsche knowledge, make some lowball bids and then disappear? Please, prove me wrong!!

  • NineThirty (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@signalMTB Not out for blood or to be like the other sites annoying peanut gallery but the ad states the bearing was done so there should be a way to back up that comment. It is a nice car and to many will be worth a lot more with proof of the upgrade. Some feel detailed maintenance records are very important when purchasing a Porsche others could care less but lack of records will affect the final price

@signalMTB please don’t include me in that “blood thirsty clan”. I run two production year 1999 996s with 80k and 55k on their clocks. Both cared for properly (oil analysis and scoped) and both with their original dual row bearings. The way I see it is that I being vaccinated and boostered have a greater chance of catching Covid than these cars will have IMS failures.
IMS mitigation is mandatory for me with any 2001 and younger 911s. Point being it is or is not been done. Bid accordingly.

  • signalMTB (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Man the IMS clan is out for blood … worse than the. baT crew! If you’re seriously interested, knowing if the IMS is done shouldn’t hold you back. It’s a low
Mileage manual last year 996 C4S. Done. Worse case, have the IMS done under your ownership.

Now, undercarriage pics… any signs of rust or prior frame damage … yeah, those are deal breakers.

  • AMGMD (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Pictures of undercarriage have been uploaded, should appear shortly, we are investigating the ims replacement documentation, i cant imagine someone servicing the clutch and the flywheel and not do the ims at that time. We will get to the bottom of this. Thank you everyone.

  • Saibaji (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    @Mercyhealth 100% agree

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@AMGMD you are running into a bit of headwind related to IMS documentation. Whether one believes in IMS mitigation or not it’s really important to keep all mechanical documentation of these cars. Also pictures 4 and 5 show asymmetry of the tail pipes. Either motor mounts or tail pipe clamps may be the cause. Certainly all these issues are repairable but at a significant cost. Nobody wants to spend top dollar on a 911 only to face thousands of dollars in sorting the car properly.

Believe me I’ve been there done that too many times. You have plenty of time to get the car on a lift and provide better photo documentation. I’m not trying to troll you. Currently have the high bid. And plan to go higher so help me help you. The factory Aerokit is so killer!

  • Saibaji (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

….Also lack of pictures of the undercarriage

  • hoptimized (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

The lack of IMS documentation is what’s holding me back.

  • AMGMD (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@NineThirty hey, we are looking for additional service records, as of right now we dont have any other receipts aside from the ones added to this listing, we are 99% sure it was done, just a matter of finding the proof. We will keep you posted. Thanks.

  • NineThirty (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@AMGMD Do you have a receipt for the IMS bearing or any actual proof that it was changed? Thanks

  • AMGMD (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@jtouzet will provide pics of undercarriage, we have not inspected for ims bearing brand since we are pretty positive the ims kit was installed, not sure on its brand.

  • AMGMD (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Mercyhealth yes, will provide cold start and walk around video tomorrow, the piece next to the dash is a cellphone magnet, could be easily taken off. Will also send pics of exhaust tips. Thank you.

  • AMGMD (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@pulpo all the tires are installed correctly, that is a mirror image. Thanks

  • AMGMD (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@JACS911 you are absolutely right, sorry for the confusion, Ill request for it to be corrected. Thanks for pointing it out

  • pulpo (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

It makes the car look RHD.

  • pulpo (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Picture #1 is a mirror image isn't it. The wheels are spinning the wrong direction.

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    @AMGMD seller
Was the video supposed to show the wheel rim rash or the 2013 tire dates?
What is the after market piece next to the console?
Will you be providing a cold start video?
Can we see close up pictures of both passenger and driver exhaust tips?

  • jtouzet (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Gorgeous. Will you be providing photos of the undercarriage? Have you inspected the vehicle for evidence of the ims bearing "brand" sticker that accompanies their bearing?

  • JACS911 2 years, 5 monthsago

Hi - Color looks great but the exterior colour is Slate Metallic (Paint Code 23F); not Seal Grey Metallic (Paint Code (6B4)

  • pulpo (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

WOW! Gorgeous spec. If I hadn't bought a C4S last month I would be all over this one. This will make somebody very, very happy.

    BTW @Pcarmarket those are 18" not 19"

  • Mercyhealth 2 years, 5 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $10,000

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Factory Aerokit in a well sorted 996 C4S definitely an uncommon spec. Not sure why one would need new brake pads and clutch at less than 40k on the clock but a positive nonetheless. You have my attention.
