The car has been driven regularly under the ownership of a pilot and engineer and is supported by an extensive maintenance history including an engine rebuild in 2016 and a major service in 2023. It also features an upgraded sport exhaust, aftermarket LED taillights, and a ducktail-style rear spoiler. Showing approximately 130k miles on the odometer, this Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia.

This 997 is finished in Carmon Red Metallic and features aftermarket LED taillights, smoked LED side marker lights, a ducktail-style rear spoiler, optional bi-xenon headlamps, and grey-painted 19” SportDesign wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. New Michelin Pilot Sport tires were mounted in 2023 within the last 10k miles. Other equipment includes front fog lights, an electric sunroof, and aftermarket double-tipped exhaust outlets. The seller notes clear paint protection film is applied over the front end and minimal cosmetic imperfections are present. The seller adds that the ducktail spoiler was installed after the original decklid was damaged in a minor accident. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a full CARFAX report.

Inside, this 997 features a Black standard leather interior with optional heated front seats. Standard equipment includes power windows and mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a three-spoke leather steering wheel. A set of custom red and black coco floor mats have been added along with a Rennline magnetic phone mount and an aftermarket Pioneer head unit. The seller reports all gauges and accessories are fully functional.

A naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 325 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller indicates an engine rebuild was completed by Pat Williams Racing in 2016 including an updated IMS bearing. Other noteworthy maintenance carried out since then includes replacement of the alternator, coolant expansion tank, rear shocks, tie rods, crankshaft sensor, starter, and engine mounts. The most recent service in 2023 included new spark plugs, a brake fluid flush, a new transmission mount, a new clutch, a new rear main seal, front brake pads and rotors, and a new battery,

This sale will include owner’s manuals, service records, and a clean title.

I have an '05 997 C2 manual coupe in my personal fleet with 70k miles (in boring Seal Grey). There is no discernible difference in how this one drives or performs. Many of you have asked (and received) the maintenance log so you know this one has been well cared for!

@Armo yes, that's why the engine was rebuilt -- it failed, the owner realized immediately and shut it down, there was no damage to the case, but the engine had to be torn down and rebuilt (new main bearings and rod bearings, new piston rings, new intermediate shaft, new gaskets, etc).

  • Armo (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Did the original IMS bearing show any signs of failure?

@Boathouse3 no. I've metered it and the quarters have also been repainted under prior ownership. The color and finish match are good throughout. Can't accurately meter the nose due to the PPF...

@Richbob the shop that did the engine rebuild did not note any bore scoring issues while the engine was apart. Feel free to contact us (and include your email address) if you'd like me to send you the PDF of the rebuild invoice.

  • Richbob (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Quick question: would the rebuilds have addressed any bore-score issues?

  • Richbob (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Absolutely stunning - may be the best looking 997.1! With the engine rebuild, 6-speed, and that color, even with the high mileage, this should go high - GLWA!

@Arffbubba the full book of service records is far too much to scan, but they are completely summarized in an Excel spreadsheet -- if you'll use the "contact seller" button above (and be sure to include your email address in your message to me), I'll email the attachment (I can't upload or attach a .xls here).

Greetings, love the color on this. Will receipts be posted for mechanical wk/rebuilds? Have I somehow missed these in listing? Thanks

@motorcarstudio Thanks and sorry that I missed the point in the write up. Great looking car. Love that color!!

  • motorcarstudio (seller) 2 monthsago

@rwbuck sure, that's why this car has a ducktail (this is mentioned in the writeup). In 2022 another driver hit the car from behind at low speed resulting in minor damage to the bumper cover and a dent to the engine lid. There was no impact to the car's driveability and the owner continued to drive it daily until the replacement spoiler arrived and was painted -- he opted for the custom ducktail instead of the original-style lid.

  • rwbuck (registered bidder) 2 monthsago

Do you have any additional information on the minor damage referenced in the CarFax? Thanks!

  • motorcarstudio (seller) 2 monthsago

Good evening, all -- this 997 C2 manual coupe is owned by a good friend of ours and we've known the car for several years. It has a very complete service history with all records neatly organized in a binder, and summarized in a spreadsheet (which is available upon request by clicking the "contact seller" button above). The engine was rebuilt in 2016 at 58,000 miles due to IMS bearing failure. There are a few minor flaws in the PPF but overall the car presents better than expected for the mileage. Serviced up, driven regularly, and ready for the next owner to enjoy -- recent tires, front brakes, clutch, RMS, battery, starter, etc. Happy bidding!
