Now up for auction is this 2005 Porsche 997 Carrera S Coupe finished in Basalt Black Metallic over a black full leather interior.  Representing the launch model year for the 997 generation, this Carrera S was ordered at an original cost of over $100k with desirable factory options including Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), 19” Carrera Classic wheels, Sport Chrono Package Plus, the Bose High-End Sound Package, Adaptive Sports Seats, and stainless-steel door entry guards with model logos.  Purchased by the current owner in 2019, this 997 has been carefully maintained with approximately 3k miles driven since and all recommended services completed by an authorized Porsche dealer.  Now showing approximately 37,500 miles on the odometer, this Carrera S is being offered for auction by its owner out of Tennessee.

This Carrera S is finished in Basalt Black Metallic and retains factory-applied clear stone guards on the rear fenders. The car is said to have been regularly detailed and stored beneath a cover in a climate-controlled warehouse under the current ownership.  Some minor cosmetic imperfections have been noted including small road-going chips on the front hood as well as a few minor nicks on the wheels.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  Yellow PCCB calipers are shown through the factory optioned 19” Carrera Classic wheels which are currently dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires.  The front tires are dated from 2014 and retain approximately 75% tread, and the rear tires were recently replaced within the last 300 miles.

Inside, this 997 features a premium black full leather interior with Adaptive Sport Seats, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, Exclusive metal door sills with model insignias, and a Sport Shifter.  The driver is also supplied with heated front seats, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and a remote 6-disc CD changer.  Common signs of wear are noted on the climate control knobs and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly.

This 997 Carrera S was debuted with a new 3.8L flat-six engine rated at 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4.5 seconds.  The Sport Chrono Package Plus allows the driver to optimize performance characteristics and PASM suspension settings while the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) provide excellent fade-resistant stopping power.  The suspension has also been slightly lowered under previous ownership with shorter springs.  The seller reports all maintenance to be up to date with a recent service completed by a Porsche dealer including oil and filter changes as well as a complete brake fluid flush.

This sale will include a Porsche car cover and a clean title.  Generously equipped from the factory and well maintained with reasonably low mileage, this 6-speed Carrera S makes a perfect choice for any discerning driver in search of a Porsche 997.

@energyof2 I do love this car and have really enjoyed driving it when I get the chance. We have four boys who are all involved in sports so the opportunities are few and far between. I feel lucky to have found this one the way it was spec'd out with so few miles. This was my first Porsche but not my last. When the kids are older and I'm done running shuttle service I will have another one. Thanks for the comment!

@kdspurlin oh, and the DME report is in the pictures. I think it is one of the last slides. Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • ccole44 (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@kdspurlin just had this car serviced at Harper Porsche here in Knoxville. I don’t know the % but clutch is still in the green with no service recommended. Tires are 75% remaining up front, 100% in the rear (new rear tires at service). Brakes are PCCB so there is basically no wear, 95%+ remaining. This car is ready to go for a long service life.

  • energyof2 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Very nice indeed. I have the same...05..CS....6MT, with all the same options except PCCB. 39k miles and absolutely love it. You should do well. I hear myself saying this is a long term keeper and am starting to believe it, having sold P cars too early in the past. I did buy with the upgraded IMS. The 3.8 powers this 997 just right and those adaptive seats are awesome. I made 2 "adjustments: Fister treatment on the stock mufflers, and a complete Inozetek White vinyl wrap with dark grey accents to protect the Seal Grey stock paint.
    Good luck to you!

Perfect spec. What is the wear on the clutch, tires, brakes and rotors? Is there a DME report? Thanks.

Hello, this is my car of the last couple years that I have decided to part with (5 cars with only 2 drivers, need to thin the heard). This is a beautiful basalt black car that really has to be seen in person to appreciate. I hope the new owner will enjoy driving it and staring at it as much as I have. I will go ahead and answer what seems to be the 997 icebreaker…the IMS bearing has NOT been replaced. Why? When I bought the car I had planned to make that change immediately because of all the forum/auction comment section banter. I was told by my local Porsche Dealer (Harper Porsche) that although they would love to take my money it was not a necessary repair/replacement and they had only ever seen one failure and it was in an abused 996. Let me know if you have any questions.
