This 2005 Porsche 997 Carrera S Coupe is factory-equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and features an GT3-style exterior conversion along with an upgraded GT3 steering wheel, shift knob, and lightweight carbon fiber bucket seats. The car has also been modified for performance with a GT3 intake plenum and throttle body, an EVOMS air intake, AWE headers, a Sharkwerks lightweight clutch kit, and more. Treated to a previous engine rebuild and IMS bearing upgrade, this 997 is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Nebraska showing just over 62k miles on the odometer.

This Coupe is said to have been fitted with an OEM 997.2 GT3 body parts in 2018 including front and rear bumpers, a decklid, and a rear wing. Areas of the care are said to have been refinished to match at this time and the exterior is currently preserved by Getechniq Crystal Serum Ultra ceramic coating. Yellow-painted brake calipers are seen behind aftermarket 18” BC Forged wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires from 2022. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black leather interior has been fitted with an Autopower roll bar and GT3-style lightweight bucket seats along with Speed Yellow safety belts. Other modifications include a rear seat delete, a PCM-delete storage cubby, and an Alcantara-wrapped GT3 steering wheel, shift knob, and parking brake lever.

The naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine was originally rated at 355 HP and sends power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission featuring a Sharkwerks lightweight clutch and flywheel kit. An upgraded GT3 intake plenum and 83mm throttle body have also been installed along with AWE exhaust headers, a Fabspeed center muffler bypass, and EVOMS cold air intake. The engine is said to have been rebuilt in 2019 to prevent bore scoring and was fitted with a self-lubricating IMS bearing at this time.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know:  I am a Porsche enthusiast.  I have a passion for beautiful lines, unique shapes, interesting colors and textures, and amazing fit and finish. Ever since I drove my first 911 ( full track focused 997 C2S) in the spring of 2017. I got hooked on the sounds, smells, and feels of these water-cooled cars. As much as I wanted to get an air-cooled 911 the cost was just not in the cards. I found the most basic 997 for weight and set out to make my version of the ultimate Carrera S. Built to be a beautiful yet simple 911 for spirited driving and PCA track days. I tackled all the maintenance, addressed the possible problems, and set this car up for pure worry-free fun. I am so in love with this car it's crazy.  Why are you selling it? I have a verbal first right of refusal on an air-cooled 993 with lots of RUF bits. I want to be ready to purchase when the owner contacts me. If this Amazing C2S doesn't sell I will just enjoy the heck out of it. The suspension, the steering, the sound, and the feeling of driving this car are pure therapy. Get in and go for a burn and escape daily life and for that 30-45 minutes at a time, your connection with this C2S will make you feel alive and heighten all your senses. The exhaust note is better than any song you could get through the radio thus the radio delete. The best part is no matter when or where you go completely worry-free. Stay on top of the future service intervals and this 911 will last for years. Good luck and happy bidding.”

@DPinNC I could NEVER part ways with my 964! Been my dream car as long as I can remember!

  • DPinNC (registered bidder) 1 yearago

@Travist this is me coming back to Porsche after I sold my last one, a 964 RS America tribute in fact, and have been regretting it for over a decade!

  • Travist (registered bidder) 1 yearago

You did the same to me! I had to remind my self i have a 964 that will get less attention and that i needed to stop at some point! Haha! Beautiful car, as you are aware. Enjoy it!

  • DPinNC (registered bidder) 1 yearago

@Travist really good auction battle...you pushed me over my personal "reserve" for this 997 but there were so many extras on it that it was hard to pass up!

@SPECTACULAR look forward to talking to you more about your incredible 997 and wrapping up the sale of it. Honored to be the next caretaker of it!

@arscottp seats were purchased at Euro Houston. I was with my buddy when he purchased them an some other goodie for his 911. They were expensive. If I was home I would pull the seats but Im out of town for business. Nothing cheap on this car and no short cuts. Hope this helps.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

    @ndotmoss No Luck Sorry

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@sportscarguy3 it still has cats. We have to have them in Nebraska also. No factory seat. I sold them long ago. Seat belts no hard at all. Plenty of DIY references on seat belts.

Do you have the factory seats?
How difficult would it be to swap out the yellow seatbelts? (Not a fan)
I understand there’s some Fab Speed exhaust parts, a muffler, delete, I believe
    What about Factory cats?
I live in Northern California, Sonoma County, and any car coming in from out of state will need inspection and Smog emissions testing and passing. Do you believe there’s any way this Porsche. would pass California smog testing?
My first water cooled Porsche was a 2005 Carrera S which I enjoyed very much and sold and purchased a 2010 Porsche. GT 3
    It was an unbelievable, Porsche.
    I appreciate the information
    Good luck all

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

    @SPECTACULAR any luck?

  • arscottp (registered bidder) 1 yearago

Seller wasn't sure if these seats are OEM or not. After some research I believe they are not OEM. Probably Maxwell replicas.
The seat rail brackets and lower harness loop trim are different than OEM. I encourage others to do research as OEM seats go for ~10k.
@seller, are there any manufacturer stickers or part numbers on the seat?

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss Not blaming you. I know you were just trying to help. I appreciate that.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss Thanks for sharing. I will try again tomorrow. Just to be straight with everyone, this car has never been tracked. I bought a clean basic 997 and I built it to do track days. That’s why I had all the safety and maintenance done along with the mods to get her ready. Then a beautiful 993 showed up. I will sacrifice this beautiful 997 for a chance to own an air cooled 911. The good news is I will know in a couple days what the next chapter holds for me. I will let you know tomorrow if the link works. ThQ

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

@SPECTACULAR please don’t blame me. I said supposedly.

But if you look at this thread on rennlist you will see that foxwell is supposed to be able to do it.

    https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/1192566-foxwell-520-strange-dme-report.html

And this one, albeit in the 996 area, in post 9 and 10, say the same.

    https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/1189574-obd-diagnostic-tool-which-can-do-dme-overrev-engine-hour-report.html

As for a DME being required for a porsche sale - it’s a pretty standard request for manuals and especially for track used manuals in an online auction environment where obtaining a PPI isn’t always easy in the time frame of the auction.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss Well I took your word and bought a foxwell pro as this is the only Scanner I could get quickly. A friend and I tried to get that info without success. His ICarsoft won’t either. Porsche Omaha can’t get me into service until next Wed. My other shop is the same. I apologize I didn’t know I needed this report to sell this car. Had I known this was important I would have been better prepared.

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss Yeah. I am confused about how these services report Liens paid off, relocations within the US. I get there is a title issued in TX for instance but when you move to another state and they issue a title ownership didn’t change location did but it’s reported as such. Confusing.

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

@SPECTACULAR thx. just wanted to clarify the rebuild date since the listing says 2019. Appreciate it.

I wasn’t asking about the 2022 lien you mentioned that previously. I was asking about the 5/18/2019 “dealer inventory” presumably in TX and 7/25/2019 “purchase reported” in NE. Would have been the middle of your ownership.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss .1/17 I am the 5th owner. A Lean was released on the car in 12/22. I received a new title in Jan maybe that’s what it is showing. Not sure about that.

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

What year was the engine rebuild?

What is the sale noted in the carfax in 2019 in the middle of owner 5?

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@siliev1991 An amazing shop in Houston Tx. Euro of Houston.

  • siliev1991 (registered bidder) 1 yearago

    Who installed the roll bar?

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

@SPECTACULAR iCarsoft can access the DME but not run that specific report. Foxwell or durametric can supposedly.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss I will call both shops that have serviced the car to see If either of them ran a report. I don’t currently don’t have one in my paperwork. Can an iCarsoft POR II get that info???

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

Given how many questions I’ve asked I can’t believe I missed this one: do you have a DME rev report you can post?

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss Photos 94,97,99 are behind passenger front tire at lift point facing rear.
Photos 95,96,98 are behind driver front tire at lift point facing rear. Hope that helps.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss just took hopefully better pictures they should be uploaded soon.

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

@SPECTACULAR understand. I’m trying to make sense of the image. It’s the only one of that part of the under carriage and I don’t think there is one of the side. And there looks to be a bent in the floor pan on the wheel side of what looks like the jack point. If I wasn’t in FL i would come see it myself but unfortunately I can’t.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss I can assure you there is no damage anywhere on this 911. I looked for a basic well maintained no accident 911 to start with. This was it. The PPI passed with flying colors and I bought it. This car has been exceptionally cared for on my watch. For example in pics 18,19 and other suspension pics I make sure the heat shields, mufflers, brackets are clean aluminum. I clean the coilovers when I pull the wheels to clean them. I hope you get the picture…I’m obsessed with presentation. Just look at the paint. Corrected in my garage by myself…Next plans are to get the whole underside dry ice cleaned. I like really clean detailed cars, it’s my thing. I know it’s not for everybody and I respect that.
I absolutely love this car. I have thoroughly enjoyed our journey together. The only reason I am selling her is for the opportunity to own a RUF inspired 993. I have first right of refusal on it. So if this (amazing to me) 911 sells I will be an air cooled owner. If it doesn’t I will continue to take this car back to showroom new appearance and enjoy getting it dirty and cleaning it haha. A Porsche Enthusiast!!!

@JC688 No. window sticker came with it sorry. It should be uploaded today. FYI basic rebuild of short block for worry free laps at the track. All potential issues with motor were addressed IMS, Pistons rings, etc. assembly to factory spec. Yes. 1 key.

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

Can you explain what image 79 is? I think I’m seeing tub damage but I’m having trouble getting my bearings

  • JC688 (registered bidder) 1 yearago

Can you post the window sticker, receipt for the engine rebuild and the ims work? I like to know more about the rebuild. Does it come with one key?

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

    @ndotmoss No I don’t. Sorry.

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

Do you have a picture of the IMS solution bar code sticker? Was it registered with LN?

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss No worries. I appreciate you doing you doing your due diligence. I am the same way.

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

@SPECTACULAR thanks! Looks like the Recaro buckets then if I’m reading the sharkwerks article correctly.

Sorry if I came off accusatory - not my intention. Thanks for the new video.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss The cars was checked for bore scoring during it last service 5/20. No scoring found. I just started the car again a few min ago and just uploaded.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss The carbon buckets were purchased from a friend of mine who crashed his 997 track car. Not sure if OEM or not but they exactly the same seats in this link.
    https://www.sharkwerks.com/tuning-guides/997-gt3-2007-2008

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

@SPECTACULAR ok. I’m surprised only 1 bank would be showing smoke after sitting. I understand that Left side exhaust oil smoke plus right side engine ticking is tell tale bore scoring symptoms.

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

    @SPECTACULAR got ya. Understand

FYI - LWB = Light Weight Buckets. Aka the full carbon seats. Are they’re OEM or aftermarket?

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss . It was recommended I video an actual cold start. That was literally the first time the car started this year. I will post another startup video soon.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@ndotmoss It is an Alcantara insert. The seats do not have any stains. You are seeing actual wear.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

    @JC688 Here are the details.
    1. Decklid Spoiler https://precision911.com/product/rear-spoiler-gt3-rs-08/

2.I am the 5th owner. A Lean was released on the car and I received a new title in Jan maybe that’s what it is showing. Not sure about that.

    3. Yes. IMS solution https://lnengineering.com/products/the-definitive-guide-and-faq-for-porsche-ims-bearings/ims-solution.html?limit=12&mode=list

    4. It was recommended I video an actual cold start. That was literally the first time the car started this year. The ticking went away shortly afterwards. I will post another startup video soon. The car idles very smoothly.

    5. The front and rear bumpers rear boot and spoiler were color matched.

    6. Current Suspension https://www.vividracing.com/street-performance-coilover-porsche-997-carrera-pasm-0511-p-59985.html

    7. Yes all stereo components are in the car, I only removed the radio and install the factory delete kit.

    8. Yes. The A/C was serviced 5/20
    9. LWB??
    10. No rear seats. Thus the cage…
    11. I haven’t noticed any abnormal consumption between oil changes. I faithfully check before starting….Plus my shop would inform me if noticed.

    12. No front mounted radiator.
    13. Yes I have all records from previous owners. I believe they are in the pictures.
ThQ for the inquiry I hope my answers help.

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

Also what’s the strange white spot on the passenger seat shown in image 56?

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

@SPECTACULAR thank you for the reply. What is the cause of the single bank greyish/blue smoke visible in the start up video?

  • JC688 (registered bidder) 1 yearago

997 GT3 are narrow body just like the C2S, so bumpers fit. Nice looking car, Porsche enthusiast as well. I’ve got a few questions:
    1. Is the engine lid a Porsche oem part? The intake locations on the lid is different than a factory GT3 lid.
    2. On the carfax, are you owner 5 that moved from TX to NE? It shows a new owner 6 starting Jan of 2023.
    3. Can you post receipt showing details of the engine rebuild and IMS type?
    4. Can you comment on the engine ticking sound, most apparently on the right side. Is it there before/after the rebuild?
    5. How much of the car was repainted when the GT3 body parts were added?
    6. The car has a lowered stance, what is the suspension on the car?
    7. Are the speakers still on the car?
    8. AC work?
    9. Are the LWB oem or replicas?
    10. Do you still have the rear seats?
    11. Does the engine consume oil?
    12. Can’t really tell, is there a center radiator?
    13. Do you have service records from previous owners?
    Thank you.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

@siliev1991 Apparently no difference. As displayed in the pics fitment is perfect. These are Porsche parts so that’s probably why fitment is so well.

  • SPECTACULAR (seller) 1 yearago

Yes it was. No prior bore scoring. It was just recommended to me to start fresh with short block parts and address all possible issues along the way to completion. May 2020 service included a bore scope check and none found.

  • siliev1991 (registered bidder) 1 yearago

How is the fitment of the GT3 bumpers? I thought they were wider than a regular S.

  • ndotmoss (registered bidder) 1 yearago

Was the AOS replaced with the rebuild? Did the engine have bore scoring before the rebuild?
