Commonly regarded among the greatest water-cooled Porsches of all time, the original GT3 drew its namesake from the FIA racing class it was designed to compete in. This final-year 2005 example was sold new at The Collection in Coral Gables, Florida, ordered in Guards Red over a black leather interior featuring exclusive carbon fiber and aluminum trim, painted hardback Sport Seat, and Custom Tailoring.  Having joined the current owner’s collection earlier in 2021, this outstanding 996 GT3 has since undergone some service and is now being offered for auction out of its home state of Florida showing just under 25k miles on the odometer.

This GT3 is reported to be one of only 19 final-year examples to have been ordered in Guards Red for the North American market.  It sports contrasting silver GT3 graphics and factory 18” GT3 wheels dressed in Sumitomo GTR Z5 tires mounted in September of 2021.  Compared to the standard Carrera, the GT3 sports a more aggressive and aerodynamic nose as well as flared side skirts and a fixed rear wing.  The seller states the hood was refinished under prior ownership and a paint chip is present on the left front fender.  Some other minor imperfections are also noted on the wheels and front end, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, you will find a black leather interior with a center console and Sport Seat backrests painted to match the exterior.  Other factory exclusive options include metal door sill model insignias, aluminum instrument dials, Porsche crest embossed headrests, and aluminum and carbon fiber inlays for the shifter and brake handle.  The original Becker CDR-23 stereo remains in place and a set of upgraded Evolution Motorsports aluminum pedals have been installed.  A complete list of factory equipment is provided below:

  • 39        Black Leather w/Black Belts
  • 573      Automatic Climate Control
  • CPZ      Thicker Steering Wheel
  • G1       Guards Red Top
  • X70      Metal Door Sill Model Insignia
  • X71      Aluminum Instrument Dials
  • XME     Rear Ctr Cons Painted Extr Clr
  • XSA      Sport Seats Painted To Match
  • XSC      Porsche Crest in Headrest
  • Y05      Brake/Shifter Carbon/Aluminum
  • Z0997  Custom Tailoring

The race-derived 3.6L flat-six Mezger engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission that sends as much as 380 HP and 284 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4 seconds. Upgraded Fabspeed mufflers have been installed for improved sound and performance.  Service records are said to be available dating back to the original purchase and items addressed since the current owner’s acquisition within the last 1k miles include replacement of a shift cable, passenger Airbag, and replacement of the windshield due to a crack sustained while driving.  The brake pads and rotors are also said to have been replaced in September of 2021.

This sale will include a clean title, service records, owner's manuals, a set of keys, and a Porsche car cover.

@pennycuff — the BaT listing from last year (where seller acquired this car) indicates H&R springs have been installed.

@MichaelSecrest1 back then I needed this 996 to complete my small collection of GT3s, now doing some changes on the lineup, getting back the same bmw 1M i sold a few months ago and adding a 992 TS lightweight pkg on order so need to get rid of 2 cars, unfortunately dont have the space or budget to keep them all so the 996 and 991 will have to go

  • MichaelSecrest1 (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

Edu09, I looked at the BaT listing mentioned by v87x, where you bought this car last year. You were so happy to complete your GT3 collection. Are you thinning your herd or just going on to something else? Again, beautiful car!

  • Edu09 (seller) 2 yearsago

@v87x yeah that is my car, replaced the shift cable, passenger air bag, windshield, did ceramic coating, other than that it is the same car

  • v87x (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

I recognize this car from a BaT auction, last year . . .

  • Edu09 (seller) 2 yearsago

@dgamble911 i have an appointment at Porsche Jacksonville on Monday 10am for a DME report so will post a complete report on Monday afternoon

  • dgamble911 (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

    Hi,
Very nice car. Have you done a DME? Any over revs?

  • Edu09 (seller) 2 yearsago

@pennycuff i will take plenty of undercarriage pics by tomorrow, will bring the car to my home where i have lifts in my garage, as per the suspension i have to check all the maintenance records to see if anything was done, will let you know over the weekend, no worries keep asking me whatever you need to know

  • pennycuff (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

@Edu09 Would you happen to have any pictures of the underside of the car? If so, would you mind adding them to the gallery? Thank you very much!!! Also, since it was not mentioned in the description of the car, is it reasonable to assume that no suspension work has been done to the car? Thank you for your time and effort to answer the myriad questions coming at you for this car.
    Toby

  • Edu09 (seller) 2 yearsago

@MichaelSecrest1 will also upload this weekend a walk around video and a go pro video driving it around

  • Edu09 (seller) 2 yearsago

@MichaelSecrest1 thank you! i have 6 records from the last owner starting from 2009 up to 2013, i am uploading them now to the post, that oil change he did previous to sell it to me is not in the paperwork I got from him, hopefully this will help you, please check the 6 records in the photo gallery in a few minutes

  • MichaelSecrest1 (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

Beautiful GT3! I notice that on the Carfax that the second owner had no service on the car from 2009 until 2018 with an alignment and battery check; and then an oil change just before its sale in 2021. Do you have any of the service records for this time period, if, in fact, there was any service? Thank you in advance.

  • pennycuff (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

@Edu09 I certainly understand. I hated selling my Cup and I can't imagine ever selling my 73 S racecar or 79 930. I look forward to watching the progress on your car. You can be assured that I'll show up in the bidding!

  • Edu09 (seller) 2 yearsago

@pennycuff thank you Sir! i love this car unfortunately have to sell 2 of my 4 GT3s to give room for 2 other cars I bought, it was a tough decision between this one and the 997.2, will keep the 997.2 and the 992, selling this one and the 991.2

  • pennycuff (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

@Edu09 - what a GREAT example of the 996 GT3. This one is on my watch list. Ever since I sold my 996 Cup, I have been really looking hard for a street version of my racecar. Yours ticks all the boxes for me. Watching this one closely and will be bidding! GLWS

  • Edu09 (seller) 2 yearsago

@Radobob I know I will regret it but need room, just ordered a 992 TS and getting back my 1M i sold 3 months ago, have to sell this one and the 991.2

  • Radobob 2 yearsago

    NO don't sell!

  • Edu09 (seller) 2 yearsago

just noticed the current bid is 996.2 lol

  • Edu09 (seller) 2 yearsago

@NHPorscheguy thanks for your comment! that invoice of Porsche Jacksonville covered the windshield replacement + passenger airbag replacement, there was an airbag light on and they found that the passenger airbag needed to be replaced, it is mentioned on the same invoice page below the windshield replacement cost

  • NHPorscheguy (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

Hi, very nice looking GT3. Can you confirm the service provided for the invoice on image 66. Not clear from the receipt. Thanks.

  • Edu09 (seller) 2 yearsago

Welcome to my auction! this 996.2 GT3 is part of my GT3 collection of all 4 generations (996.2-997.2-99.2-992), unfortunately have to sell this one and the 991.2 to give room for 2 additional cars i am buying, for those who own a 996 know how fun is it to drive this platform, the Mezger engine sound and performance is unique, this GT3 generation is a blast to drive, raw and demanding but a lot of fun for spirited driving, I had it ceramic coated recently and was inspected by Porsche Jacksonville when I replaced the windshield due to a crack on my way home from Miami, the car is in tip top condition in and out, please feel free to ask any questions and good luck to everybody interested in this GT3
