The second generation of Porsche’s popular mid-engine sports car, the 987 Boxster debuted in 2005 with updated styling, increased power, and innovative technology. This launch-year example comes finished in GT Silver Metallic over a Sea Blue interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission, PCM 2.1, a Bose Surround Sound System, and a 3-spoke multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel. Fortified with an IMS bearing update kit and accompanied by extensive service documentation, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida with approximately 66k miles on the odometer.

This 987 comes finished in the classic Porsche shade of GT Silver Metallic with a blue convertible soft top. It rides on factory 17” Boxster II wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires from 2020. Details include headlight washers, front fog lights, side air intakes, a retractable rear spoiler, and a central exhaust outlet. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The driver is situated within a Sea Blue interior featuring power-adjustable leather seats, power windows, analog instrumentation, cruise control, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and dash-mounted cupholders. Optional features include a 3-spoke multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bose Surround Sound System, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) 2.1.

A naturally aspirated 2.7-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 240 HP and 199 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. Standard performance features include Porsche Stability Management (PSM), traction control, 4-wheel vented disc brakes, an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), and an Active Brake Differential (ABD). The IMS bearing was addressed with an update kit in April 2018, and a host of service documentation is shown in the gallery. The CARFAX report shows a total of 26 service history entries.

This sale will include a clean title and service documentation.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for taking a look at our 2005 Porsche Boxster! It's a beautiful example with strong service records.”

    @JimClark Good Morning, thank you for your question!

    This particular 987 does not have the LM engineering stamp, but the RO states it was an upgraded kit so I'm under the impression that they would not have replaced it with the OEM bearing.

    The top itself is in excellent condition with no rips, tears, or spots of wear!

  • JimClark (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

    @vbautosports Hi, any idea of which IMS was installed. Usually, if it is a LN Engineering part, there's a sticker affixed somewhere in the vehicle with the part serial number. How's the overall condition of the top as far as fading, tears, and worn areas?

    I see that the IMS upgrade was quoted and slated for future work but I don't see the repair ticket that shows the work was performed. What am I overlooking?

    @Tripin6 Good Morning,
    The meter shows the variance on the right quarter panel, but to the human eye and with a close inspection it does not present with any mismatch to the color of the vehicle.

  • Tripin6 (registered bidder) 5 months, 4 weeksago

    I looked through all the service receipts you have pictured in the gallery and couldn’t find anything that shows that the IMS bearing was replaced as stated in the description. Do you have proof that that upgrade was performed? Thanks

  • Tripin6 (registered bidder) 5 months, 4 weeksago

    Hello, The paint thickness readings have large variances. What’s the explanation for that?
    Thanks
