Among the most iconic and celebrated Porsche models of all time, the Carrera GT (Type 980) first debuted as a concept car at the 2000 Paris Motor Show featuring a carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) monocoque chassis built around a V10 engine borrowed from a Le Mans LMP2000 race car prototype. With its naturally aspirated engine, race-derived technology, and 6-speed manual transmission, the Carrera GT is regarded among the last true analog supercars. It went into production at Porsche’s Leipzig facility in 2003 and concluded in 2006 after 1,270 examples had been produced in total. This U.S.-market 2005 Porsche Carrera GT is finished in GT Silver Metallic over Dark Gray leather upholstery and was purchased new by its first owner in Montreal after being officially imported to Canada by the manufacturer in March 2006. It was acquired by the current owner in 2017 and was the subject of a major service in December 2023 including new spark plugs, drive belts, a thermostat, air filters, recall work, and an oil change. Accompanied by a matching luggage set and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this Carrera GT is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada with 2,191 miles showing on the odometer.

The Carrera GT features lightweight full carbon fiber bodywork laid over an advanced carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) monocoque chassis constructed by ATR Group of Italy. It incorporates a two-piece removable roof panel, large side air intakes, recessed door handles, an electronically actuated rear spoiler, and a carbon-fiber engine cover with NACA air ducts and dual silver mesh grilles. Other features include an aerodynamic underbody paneling, dual exhaust pipes, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, xenon headlights, and yellow-painted aluminum monobloc brake calipers mounted behind 19”/20” forged magnesium center-lock wheels. This example is finished in the model’s signature color of GT Silver Metallic (M7Z) and wears a layer of clear paint protection film over the full exterior. The seller notes the Michelin Pilot Sport tires were replaced in preparation for sale and a headlight recall was completed in December 2023. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cockpit presents Dark Grey leather upholstery complemented by carbon fiber, magnesium, and aluminum trim. Equipment includes racing-style XT Bucket Seats with carbon-Kevlar shells and Porsche-crested headrests, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, a 917-style beechwood wood shift knob, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, a Porsche Online Pro CD stereo, a 10,000-rpm tachometer, and a 235-mph speedometer. The car's serial number is also emblazoned ahead of the shifter. The seller indicates the tire pressuring monitoring system (TPMS) light is present on the dashboard due to new tires being installed and a road test not being possible at the time. Some scratches are visible on the paint protection film covering the lower passenger door carbon fiber trim. The seller adds that the car has a U.S. compliance label and an analog MPH speedometer. PDI service record shows daylight reprogramming to meet Canadian Transport Agency requirements.

Adapted from a secret project commissioned by the Footwork Formula One racing team in 1992, the Carrera GT features a high-revving 5.7-liter M80/01 V10 engine with Nikasil-coated cylinders, forged titanium connecting rods, forged pistons, dry-sump lubrication, and dual overhead camshafts with variable intake timing. Up to 605 HP and 435 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission with a special twin-plate Porsche Ceramic Composite Clutch (PCCC). The suspension includes unequal-length control arms with horizontally mounted pushrod-actuated shock absorbers and anti-roll bars. Stopping power is derived from Porsche’s Carbon fiber-reinforced Silicon Carbide (C/SiC) ceramic composite braking system with 15” SGL Carbon discs. Porsche claims an official 0-62 MPH acceleration time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 205 MPH. A service completed by Porsche Lauzon in December 2023 included the replacement of a thermostat, spark plugs, drive belts, air filters, and an oil change.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a luggage set, bucket seat extensions, a toolkit, a car cover, service records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: "Great opportunity to acquire a flawless extremely low miles Carrera GT. This particular Porsche was originally manufactured for the US market. It was moved by Porsche Cars North America to accommodate a Canadian buyer in 2006 at the end of the model's selling period. Being an American Market Example it will not require any modifications to bring back into the US. All required servicing has just been performed in preparation for the sale."

    @mlajoie I was completely sure of that as the condition is STELLAR!! THANK YOU AGAIN

  • mlajoie (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @nosubstitute4porsche Wow quite the chance!
    As for the black spots rest assured these are just splashes that occurred while driving the car into the white room. Not damages just dirty.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @mljoie(seller) I apologize I missed that in the pictures I suppose I was distracted by the black spots behind the right rear wheel on the fifth video. I was lucky enough to be at the factory to see these being built. They were looking into the carbon checking for cracks in the carbon with the coolest camera setup that I have ever seen. After lunch we were taken on some laps by Marc Lieb(porsche race car driver) and others.. TALK ABOUT FEELING MY LUNCH! I CANT WAIT!!

  • nosubstitute4porsche (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @chaos365 your comment was super helpful. I was of the same understanding.

  • mlajoie (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @nosubstitute4porsche The specific clutch measurement is 29.23 mm. It is noted on the major maintenance checklist in the pictures. Thank you

  • mlajoie (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @Ammo
    I am told insurance companies in the US can provide coverage. That said bidders can call their insurance companies ahead of closing to make sure this is the case. Thank you

  • mlajoie (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @porscheguy32
    We do not discuss reserve on a live auction. However we will say there is a high probability of this Carrera GT selling. I would suggest bidding if you don’t want it to get away.

  • Ammo (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

    I would call your insurance company. Most are not covering road use in the US. they will cover non registered cars for storage only.

  • PorscheGuy32 (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

    Was final bid on bat close to reserve?

  • mlajoie (seller) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @chaos395
    I stand corrected. The Porsche dealer has escalated the matter and confirmed Porsche does not recommend driving the car. They expect to have the parts this summer. Thank you

  • flatplanecrank (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @chaoes395 is correct. Every CGT is currently under a "Do Not Drive" status. No reports of insurance issues in the US, but some UK owners have been notified that incidents wont be covered until by their insurer until the recalled parts are replaced (est Q3 2024).

  • chaos395 (registered bidder) 3 months, 1 weekago

    @mlajoie You are completely incorrect about this car not being affected by a "Do Not Drive" campaign. I own a CGT and last spring received a call from my dealer advising about the lower control arm issue and told not to drive the car. Subsequently, I have received emails, phone calls, and actual letters from Porsche Cars North America advising me to not drive my car. Lastly, I was at the Le Mans race this past June and spent time with Frank Stephan Wallser, the head of the Porsche GT division, who further advised me not to drive the car. ALL CGT's, world wide, are affected by this campaign. The car you are selling is no exception! Porsche's plan is to engineer and produce replacement suspension components that they will provide and install on all CGT's at Porsche's expense. I've been advised that these parts will begin becoming available sometime mid 2024 and into early 2025. Hope this helps.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (registered bidder) 3 months, 2 weeksago

    seller thank you.please read the "JALOPNIK ARTICLE" if you haven't already .To elaborate further , "some insurance companies have notified CGT owners that insurance coverage could be dropped if something happens to the car while driving because porsche has told owners not to drive it" I have patience so if I win I will follow whoever takes the lead, that is until I pass them : >}

  • mlajoie (seller) 3 months, 2 weeksago

    @nosubstitute4porsche
    This car is not affected by any “do not drive” campaign.

  • nosubstitute4porsche (registered bidder) 3 months, 2 weeksago

    @seller, thank you I only ask because I am interested in buying this car. I was told that all CGT's are under a "do not drive" from porsche until these get replaced and Porsche id changing them as the parts become available. I am not sure if this is the case but that is my understanding from several people who drive their cars regularly. Clutch when new is 100%.That is easily determined if a specific measurement is given, measurement numbers are as accurate as a Monday is Long.Again thank you seller.

    @nosubstitute4porsche @lkn4adl
    1) The pictures posted is all the available service history. We have no records for the 3rd owner (2011 - 2017).
    2) To our knowledge it hasn't. The Porsche dealer who just performed the major assured us it wasn't required at this stage for this car.
    3) As of December 2023, 70% clutch life remaining. As per dealer, this is very close to what it measures new.
    4) To our knowledge, not replaced. The car just had a full inspection performed with no issues reported.
    5) Brand new tires were just installed in December 2023.
    6) To our knowledge, the shocks are original.
    7) The car is 100% original. Never had any paint work.
    8) The PPF was installed by the 2nd owner in 2010.
    9) Spherical joints are original to our knowledge. Again, the car was just inspected and deemed perfect by Porsche dealer. Major maintenance checklist posted in the pictures.
    Thank you

    @lkn4adl my bad,.. hit send prior to typing the questions regarding service history
    1) Are the pictures posted representative of all the service history the car has had since new?
    2) Has the car had any engine out services?
    3) Current Clutch Measurement
    4) Have CAMS been inspected or replaced
    5) Date code on tires
    6) Have shocks been replaced or are these the original ones
    7) Has the car had any paint work

    @seller thank you for bringing this here and offering it up for sale. Have the spherical joints been changed on this particular car? thank you in advance..

  • gman111111 (registered bidder) 3 months, 2 weeksago

    @NYNE97.2 I agree with you 100%. Another pet peeve of mine is bets that either rhyme with the model number e.g. ($1,992) for example.

  • Carstuff1969 (registered bidder) 3 months, 2 weeksago

    Why do people make small bids on a car knowing there's no way on earth it will be a successful bid. Every car on here gets them. What's the point?

  • NYNE97.2 3 months, 2 weeksago

    I’m sure Porsche will sort out the ‘stop use’ order. Beautiful car.
