Now available for auction is this 2006 Bentley Arnage R Red Label finished in Black Sapphire over a Magnolia leather interior.  Manufactured by Bentley Motors in Crewe, England from 1998 to 2009, the Arnage represented the marque’s flagship full-size luxury car and shared its platform with the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph.  It was the first entirely new design for Bentley since 1980.  Offered as a grand touring variant, this 2006 R-model carried an original sticker price of over $226k and features a twin-turbocharged V8 engine as well as an optional wood and leather steering wheel, veneered rear-seat picnic tables, and embroidered headrests.  It has remained under the care of the same owner from new and has enjoyed a lifetime of routine service.  A sophisticated and stately luxury car, this Arnage R shows just over 64k miles on the odometer and is now being offered for auction out of the original owner's estate by its seller out of New York.

This Bentley is finished in Black Sapphire with chrome brightwork and a chrome front matrix grille.  The seller notes a crack in the rear bumper, a dent on the rear driver-side door, some rust on the sunroof, and curb rash on the right rear wheel.  The front enameled flying “B” emblem is said to need replacement and some condensation appears in a few of the exterior lenses following a car wash. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  This Arnage R rides on 18” chrome alloy wheels that come dressed in Cooper RS3-G1 tires showing date codes from 2019 in the front and 2013 in the rear.

Occupants are accommodated within a luscious Magnolia and interior upholstered with premium graded leather, blue carpeting, and hand-stitched accents.  Noteworthy details include vertically fluted seat inserts, Magnolia leather headliner, a blue leather dashboard, blue lambswool floormats, and smooth chrome buttons and switches.  An optional wood and leather steering wheel is equipped along with veneered picnic tables for the rear seats, embroidered headrest logos, and winged “B” inlays for the waistrails and picnic tables.  Driver amenities also include multi-zone automatic climate control, a premium audio system with a 6-disc autochanger, power front seats with four-position memory, individually power-adjustable rear seats, park distance control, and a concealed DVD-based satellite navigation system.  CARFAX shows the A/C system to have been serviced in 2015 at 57,455 miles.  The seller reports that one of the rear seat recliners is nonfunctional, the rear driver side window is inoperable, and that the Alpine remote control for the navigation system is missing.

This Red Label is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 6.75L V8 engine that sends up to 400 HP and 616 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed Adaptive Automatic Transmission with Sport Mode.  Other mechanical features include electrically controlled adaptive suspension, micro-alloy ventilated disc brakes, and an Electronic Stability Control Program (ESP) with Traction Control (ASR).  CARFAX shows maintenance history including routine annual service performed by the Bespoke Motor Group in New York from 2006-2011.  The seller adds that a camshaft, pedal switch, and 7 valve lifters were replaced in 2011 at 36k miles.  Rear suspension work is also said to have been carried out in 2012 by European Foreign Classics.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals, window sticker, a set of three keys, and a clean title.  The seller notes that the remote key fobs are currently nonfunctional and may be in need of reprogramming. An unbeatable value for any discerning driver in search of a full-size high-end luxury vehicle, this Arnage R is not to be overlooked.

@merediad Hello. The seller is on a flight currently. We don't have a way of confirming which regulators were replaced.

Please refer to this section in the write up regarding past service items

The seller adds that a camshaft, pedal switch, and 7 valve lifters were replaced in 2011 at 36k miles. Rear suspension work is also said to have been carried out in 2012 by European Foreign Classics.

@BobV Do you have service records on the car? Specifically these were known to have issues with window regulators (which per carfax, some have been replaced). It would be good to know which regulators were fixed. They also had issues with cylinder head gaskets which is a pricey repair. Would be good to know if those were done.

Attention all bidders. The Estate handling the sale of this Bentley indicated to us that this car must sell today. As a result they have also asked us to announce that they have lifted the reserve. Best of luck to all.

@run42km Reminds me of the Grey Poupon tv commercial.

Seriously, though, the fold-down tables are probably useful if you're doing any work in the back while being driven. This car is a startling combination of luxury (lambswool padded floormats!) and beastly power.

  • run42km (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Beautiful. No ride in the countryside would ever be correct without those Veneered Picnic Tables embedded into the rear of the front seats. A must have $2100 option for the Dom Perignon Champagne and Beluga Caviar that surely would be so much enjoyable in the back seat of this Royal ride!

Yes the issue with the drivers side rear door is evident in the main presentation photos above as well as what you see in #33. I wasn't sure there was a dent until I washed the car.

The gravel is just where they took the car for the photos

  • LordVenn (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

    Hello BobV,
    Nice presentation you’ve made here.
    A couple observations- questions, if you know sir;
#33, reflections on drivers side rear door resembles a crease/ indentation
#42, Wet spot on gravel under car, is it condensation from AC, a transmission leak or possibly there when you parked it for photos?
    Watching w interest.
Asking my service mechanic about his experiences and capabilities to maintain.
Best of Luck w the auction.

Thank you everyone for your interest in this car. This was the last and greatest of all the cars that my late uncle had over the years, going back to a Corvette he used to let me steer sitting on his lap before I was old enough to reach the pedals. Today I certainly can reach the pedals on this muscle-car fit for royalty. The estate has clear title in his name in NY, together with NY Surrogate's Court Letters Testamentary with raised seal and original death certificate which should be sufficient to transfer title for any state. For states that require it I can provide a tracing of the vin number plate.
