Up for auction is this 2006 BMW E46 M3 Convertible finished in Mystic Blue Metallic over a Light Grey Nappa leather interior. Representing the third generation of BMW’s high-performance 3-Series variant, the E46 M3 is revered for its well-balanced chassis and high-revving S54 inline 6-cylinder engine. This example features a second-generation SMG automated manual gearbox and was built during the last month of E46 production in May of 2006.  Acquired by the seller in 2013, this M3 highlights a history of dealership service and is now being offered for auction out of New York with approximately 43k miles showing on the odometer.

This E46 M3 is finished in Mystic Blue Metallic (A07) with a power-operated black soft top, xenon headlights, integrated fog lights, and LED taillights. The seller reports only minor signs of road-going wear throughout the exterior, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. The M3 sports a few major differences compared with a standard 3-Series Coupe, most notably its wider fenders, side air vents, revised front bumper, mirrors, rear valence, and signature M-Power quad-tip exhaust. Another distinctive feature are the 19” Style 67 forged wheels which are manufactured by Fuchs and currently dressed in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires showing date codes from 2016.

The interior is upholstered in Light Grey Nappa leather and features deeply bolstered 14-way powered M-Sport seats with matching door panels and carpeting. Shadow Brushed Aluminum trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. The seller notes some wear on the driver’s seat and center armrest and confirms all features and instrumentation to be functioning properly.

Power comes from the venerable 3.2L S54 inline-six, which generates up to 333 HP and 269 lb.-ft of torque. The S54 utilizes motorsport-derived technology including individual throttle bodies, quasi-dry sump lubrication, a light alloy twin-cam head, and Double VANOS variable valve timing. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 6-speed SMG II automated manual transmission and a speed-sensing M Variable multi-clutch differential. This second-generation SMG gearbox used an electro-hydraulically actuated clutch and offered gear shifting via either the gear lever or the paddles mounted on the steering wheel. The M3 was offered with a variety of parts from BMW Motorsport including stiffer springs and dampers, thicker anti-roll bars, heavy-duty shock mounting points, and steel ball joints instead of rubber. The CARFAX report shows a history of maintenance including dealership service at Princeton BMW of New Jersey and Freeport BMW of New York. The seller reports the oil to have been changed twice a year under their ownership as well as a brake service completed in 2019.
