Available for auction is this 2006 Mercedes-Benz R230 SL500 finished in Fire Opal Red over Beige leather. Representing the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class flagship grand touring car, the R230 chassis was the first SL to feature a retractable folding hardtop. This 2006 example was recently acquired from its original owner of over 15 years and features a 5.0L V8 engine, Active Body Control (ABC) suspension, xenon headlights, and more. Now with just over 51k miles showing on the odometer, this SL500 is being offered for auction by its second owner out of New York.
This SL comes finished in Fire Opal Red with a matching retractable hardtop. The R230 model underwent a facelift in 2006 including a more pronounced front fascia with larger air inlets as well as new taillights and fog lamps with chrome bezels. Equipment includes Bi-Xenon headlamps, fog lights, dual exhaust outlets, side fender vents, and staggered-width 18” five-spoke alloy wheels dressed in a set of Continental tires. The seller notes a small spot of surface rust at the rear and describes the finish to be in good overall condition otherwise. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing minor damage to the driver's side rear-end in 2017.
The driver and passenger are accommodated within a Beige leather interior accented by wood veneers on the steering wheel, center console, and door panels. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, COMAND infotainment with navigation, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated power-adjustable seats. All features and accessories are said to be working properly.
Power comes from an M113 5.0L V8 engine rated at 302 HP and 339 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 7G-Tronic shiftable seven-speed automatic transmission. Active Body Control (ABC) suspension comes standard along with anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, and Sensotronic electrohydraulic brake control. The CARFAX report shows routine maintenance to have been carried out by Mercedes-Benz of Buffalo for most of the car's life. The most recent service completed in 2021 by Black Forest Motorsport included an oil and filter change, fluid check, safety inspection, and A/C system service.

No there is no dents in the car anywhere body is in really good shape
Seller, is there damage on the passenger side rear quarter? In pictures (10, 11, 12, 13) It appears like there is damage above the wheel well.

I owned a SL500 in silver / black but sold it several years ago. But the colors on this car really POP and drew me into bidding. Such beautiful cars, they are.
Minor problems and worries about the potential for major problems keep these cars affordable. But with the convertible top, the excellent fit and the interior leather and trim and the excellent ride with these cars, they make one feel rich.
