Less than 1% IMS failures on this year. Some non-zero number.

One further thought, the pics in the gallery for the oil sample analysis from 6,000 miles, 8,500 and 10,500 miles show no abnormal metal in the oil.
The current engine condition that those sample tests provide is undeniable.

    thank You. A great explanation.

  • Chrispcar (seller) 4 days, 2 hoursago

@racer218 In order to replace the better IMS bearing that is in this vehicle you have to completely disassemble the engine. That of course would be a massive effort for something that has a 1% failure rate in this year model. The IMS bearing failure in this year model is overblown concern. It would be great if this message would go through the community as so much time is lost with the unnecessary worry.

  • Racer218 (registered bidder) 4 days, 2 hoursago

Sorry to be late to this auction. The IMS bearing has not been replaced. Is that correct?

@NorskiePete Great question, no the car does not have any PPF. I do have a video showing the front is nearly rock chip free. I am not a huge fan of the look of ppf film on a dark paint like this. Looks a bit plastic to me. So I am just very careful to keep a distance.

  • Chrispcar (seller) 4 days, 14 hoursago

@rcoms58 they stopped putting them under the hood before this year. A quick google search or a look at other cars of similar years should ease your mind on that topic.
The paint meter pics are clearly shown and the other under hood sticker is in place.
The car is nearly perfect. Both myself and Gran Prix motors would not have owned the car otherwise.

  • rcoms58 (registered bidder) 4 days, 16 hoursago

Beautiful 997! Just curious, though, why doesn't it have the options sticker under the hood? I take it to mean that the hood was replaced at some point.

  • NorskiePete (registered bidder) 4 days, 18 hoursago

    Any PPF on the car?

  • zuff (registered bidder) 4 days, 22 hoursago

@Pcarmarket, that's not a full leather interior. Beautiful 997, regardless.

    The cvboots are not torn.
If the car needed anything I would fix it. I am a very particular person that has to keep my cars etc in nearly perfect condition. This is the way:)

  • GT4Driver (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

Hard to tell from photo 137, but is the boot torn? Not the end of world if so. All can be fixed.

This looks to be a great example of a 997. Great color, options, manual with low miles. Love it!

  • Chrispcar (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@Boozer28 I am not sure the cost. If I had even the slightest concern then I would do it personally. With the attached oil analysis it is clear there is no zero need to do it.

NineNine6or7: it’s my understanding a bore scope costs around $1,500. That’s a big pre sale expense no?

@NineNine6or7 I have not done a borescope. I have done oil analysis on all three oil changes that I have done. I have submitted that pic to PCARMarket so they can post it. That shows no abnormal metal in the oil which answers the question of both any bore scoring or IMS bearing issues almost better than any other method of diagnostics IMO. If someone would like me to take it somewhere to have a borescope done I would be happy to do that.

  • Chrispcar (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

I can reinstall the stock exhaust manifolds for you.

  • Chrispcar (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@Supakev The stock cats and mufflers are on the vehicle, only the headers have been changed which does not affect emissions.

  • NineNine6or7 (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

Have you or can you obtain a sump-side borescope?

  • Supakev (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@Chrispcar Excellent, thank you sir! Also, just to be sure: In my state of Virginia, vehicles must have catalytic converters to pass inspection. Have you removed or modified the stock cats from this vehicle?

  • Chrispcar (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@Supakev The tires are dated 28th week of 2020
I will get the engine vin for you later today.
It does fall in the later range in terms of the better IMS bearing but I will get that soon.

    Hello PCARMARKET!
I was a factory trained Porsche Mechanic at Beverly Hills and also owned an independent shop in San Diego 20 plus years ago.
I have the stock manifolds, plenum, throttle body and willing to put that all back on for a buyer no charge.
I believe these parts are all CA smog legal.
They are tasteful upgrades that did make a decent improvement as a package.
It also has the Bluetooth kit that works seamlessly with the stock stereo. Another very easy plug and play thing I can remove if someone wants it to be all stock.

More to follow as it progresses and I look forward to answering any questions.
I am willing to take it anywhere in Austin for a Pre purchase inspection!

  • Supakev (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

Would you please provide the engine serial number for the vehicle? Also, what are the manufacturing date on the tires?
