The Atlas Grey Metallic paint is said to be in very nice condition throughout.  Only a few minor imperfections have been noted including a small ding on the right rear fender and a scuff on the center rear bumper.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX.  Red brake calipers can be seen behind the factory 19” Carrera S wheels which come with 2 new rear tires.  The front tires are also said to be in great shape.

Inside, the black standard leather interior is said to have been kept in mostly excellent condition except for some typical signs of wear on the climate control buttons and driver’s floormat.  All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly and the following options are listed on the original window sticker:

  • 342      Heated Front Seats

  • P15      Power Seat Package
  • XPA      3-Spoke Steering Wheel-Interior Leather
  • XSC      Porsche Crest in Headrest

This Carrera S is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.8 L flat-six engine that sends up to 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a desirable 6-speed manual transmission.  The car is said to be mechanically stock and all routine service is reported to be up to date.  Certified Pre-Owned status is said to have been previously issued and service records are said to be included which date back to 2009.  All routine service is said to have been addressed through a Porsche dealer including the replacement of the water and coolant pump at 29k miles following a slight leak reported by a previous owner.

This sale will include the flat tire kit, the original window sticker, a Porsche sunshade, and a clean title. If you have been in search of a 997 Coupe, this beautiful 6-speed Carrera S may just be the one.

@kaybee PDR says since the steel is double walled he would not get a good result coming in from the wheel well, but he should be able to remove most or all if he comes in through the door jamb. If he comes in through the jamb there will be a small body plug in the jamb when he is finished. Cost would be about $60. I will leave that decision to the new owner. If the new owner wants it done, I will be happy to arrange it.

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@M3tro81 No compression test has been done nor borescope. The engine does not exhibit any bad habits. The owner is a cardiologist and in all seriousness he did use a stethoscope to listen to the engine. This engine submodel received one of Porsche's running production upgrade IMS bearings.

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@drivenmanmotors PDR will try to get by this morning before auction ends.

  • M3tro81 (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@drivenmanmotors has the car been borescoped or compression check done under most recent ownership?

  • ddnmkun 3 years, 2 monthsago

@drivenmanmotors thanks that’s exactly what I was looking for. You are right looks like it has the updated engine.

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@kaybee Due to the ice storm the PDR man cancelled

  • kaybee (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

were you able to get the dent out?

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@ddnmkun Since this is a later 2006 model I believe the sticker you want to see is the one in the maintenance book. I've submitted the image to PCM. I think you're looking for this line.
    M9701-686 G9701-10

Also below the VIN on the sticker is
    991 120
    M9701-686 G9701-10
    LMX7 AN
    C02 XPA XSC 342 437
    438 446 537 680 991

  • ddnmkun 3 years, 2 monthsago

@drivenmanmotors oh it’s right under the front hood in the middle, can’t post a link example here, but if you google ‘997 under hood sticker’ you will see what I meant.

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@ddnmkun I do not see that sticker. Do I need to remove any of the interior trunk panels?

  • ddnmkun 3 years, 2 monthsago

@drivenmanmotors there is a white sticker on the front trunk that shows the engine model code and number. Can you take a picture of that and show us please.

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@wadds1971 Yes - it does have the original engine and from the engine decklid sticker I believe this is the m97

I'm not sure what is entailed in the next major service.

This engine does not exhibit any bad habits. The car is only for sale because its long-term owner is moving into a townhome with no enclosed parking.

  • wadds1971 (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@drivenmanmotors (the seller): Can you confirm that this car has its original engine, and that the engine is an M97 version, and not the earlier M96 with the smaller IMS bearing installed? If memory serves me, the transition year for these was around '05-'06, and I'd like to know for sure. Also, at what mileage would the next major service be indicated for this car, and what would that entail? Finally, has there been any sign of bore-scoring in the engine, e.g. extra clicking sounds, or smoke from the tailpipes on cold start? Thanks. Very pretty car indeed!

@LDG PDR man coming. Says he thinks he can remove the dent. Will update Monday

  • ddnmkun 3 years, 2 monthsago

Hello, can you take a picture of the engine code sticker on the hood please?

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@LDG the scuff is only really evident when the light hits it at certain angles, but it is centrally located about 1/2 way between the Carrera S script and the top of the license plate

  • LDG 3 years, 2 monthsago

Also can you identify with a circle where the scuff is? Not sure I am finding it. Thanks!

  • LDG 3 years, 2 monthsago

Great looking car. Have you tried to see if a shop can do a paintless ding removal on that panel? Is it too close to the edge?

  • Rarsenault (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

    @drivenmanmotors thanks.

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@drivenmanmotors according to the seller he ran over a nail on the highway and ruined one of the Continentals on the rear. At that time and place he did not have the option of an identical Continental and went with Michelins

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@kisik It does have a nice pair of Conti's on the front and nearly new Michelins on the rear. If you don't tell the 911 she'll never know. :-)

Seriously - I do have message in to the owner asking why. Receipts are included for both pair. They were purchased about 6 months and 1,900 miles apart.

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

    @kking It has not

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@Russbaribault The amp is part of the Bose Porsche option 680 as seen on the build sheet. The picture was taken specifically to show the amp. It is usually closed up in a compartment in the nose and not in sight.

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 3 years, 2 monthsago

@Rarsenault Weather too lousy here now to take her out, but I can get some in the showroom

  • Rarsenault (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

Can you post some underside and engine photos? Any videos of the car as well. Walk around and start up would be great. Thank you.

  • Russbaribault (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

Can you advise what’s going in the front trunk with that amp?

  • kking (registered bidder) 3 years, 2 monthsago

Do you know if the IMS bearing has been done ?

  • Mcomito 3 years, 2 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $20,000

  • kisik 3 years, 2 monthsago

I just noticed that front and rear tires are mismatched. Was I incorrect, I hoe?
