Now up for auction is this 2006 Porsche 997 Carrera S Cabriolet finished in Basalt Black Metallic over a Sand Beige full leather interior.  This Carrera S came factory equipped with a desirable 6-speed manual transmission, a Sport Shifter, the Bose High-End Sound Package, supple leather seats, and a three-spoke leather steering wheel.  It was originally sold in California and remained on the West Coast up until 2015.  Highlighting a considerable service history on CARFAX, this Carrera S Cabriolet is now being offered for auction out of Florida with approximately 53k miles showing on the odometer.

This Carrera S is finished in Basalt Black Metallic with a matching black cabriolet top.  The seller notes that the exterior has been preserved with clear paint protection film covering the nose section and mirror housings, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  Aftermarket ECS Tuning wheel spacers complement the factory 19” Carrera S wheels with optional colored Porsche center crests.  These wheels come dressed in a set of General G-MAX RS tires dated from 2018.

Inside, you will find a premium Sand Beige full Leather interior with optional supple leather seats, a Sport Shifter, and a three-spoke leather steering wheel.  At an original MSRP of over $102k, this Cabriolet offers heated front seats, the Power Seat Package, Bose High-End Sound Package, and a remote 6-disc CD changer.  Some minor signs of wear are noted on the soft-touch materials and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-six engine capable of producing 355 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission which allows acceleration from 0-60 MPH in as little as 4.7 seconds.  In addition to boasting a 30 HP increase over the standard Carrera, the Carrera S features larger brakes derived from the Turbo model along with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard.  The CARFAX report shows annual service to have been carried out by The Auto Gallery of Woodland Hills, CA under the original ownership including a water pump replacement in 2009. A 40k-mile service was completed by The German Car Shoppe of Littleton, CO in 2013, and the most recent documented service was carried out by Porsche of Southampton in 2019 at 47,991 miles.

This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, a cabin wind deflector, and a clean title.  If you are in search of a tastefully equipped and well-maintained Porsche 997, this 6-speed Cabriolet is certainly worth consideration.

@DWhelan so the answer is you don’t know. That’s fine, you just can judge a book by its cover. I sold lubricants to garages car dealers repair shops all over the world, you wouldn’t believe half of thee we stuff I have seen. Anyway GLWTS. It seems that this car is going to go up for more than I’m willing to pay, anyway probably for a bit more I can buy the convertible in deal tank with FSI 4.0 liter engine, Jakes Raby built. Will be drinking a few beers seeing how this one ends.

@luis.seneriz any answer as to when the oil was last changed would be purely speculative, as you said, lots of people work on these cars themselves. The condition of the car speaks for itself, it was clearly well taken care of, and therefore we can assume maintenance has not been neglected.

@DWhelan can you just answer the question? When was the last time thf oil was changed on this car? Since you are a real active engage seller I guess that’s going to determine how much I’m willing to pay for your car.

So when was the last time time and oil change was done on hind car? Yes some people on this level 996/997 do a lot of work on their own cars. Just let me know, I’m retired now but I used to formulate motor oils and I used to work with Porsche in Germany to get A40 engine oil approvals all over the world.

@luis.seneriz to clarify, the last documented service on Carfax was in 2019, this does not mean that the last time the car was serviced was in 2019.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@DWhelan I’m I reading this correctly. Last service was in 2019. If that is true then we know why so many of these cars get bore scoring. The 3.8 are more likely to get it because of the crank to piston rod length. Any history of IMs being done?. For everyone here, with these M96/M97
Engines the best insurance policy is
6 months, 5,000 miles oil changes whatever happens first.
