Up for auction is this 2006 Porsche 987 Cayman S finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Stone Grey interior. Factory optioned with a 6-speed manual transmission and leather Sport Seats, this Cayman S has been further enhanced with an upgraded IPD intake plenum, SOUL performance exhaust, lowering springs, a full custom sound system, Avant Garde wheels, an FVD Brombacher tune, and more. Acquired by the current owner in 2014, this 987 has undergone considerable service within the last 5k miles and is now being offered for auction out of Pennsylvania showing approximately 65k miles on the odometer.
This Cayman S is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with custom painted lettering on the rear hatch to match the wheels and brake calipers. The car has been lowered on H&R Sport springs and rides on a set of 19” Avant Garde Ruger Mesh wheels in a custom powdercoated finish. Measuring 11” wide in the rear and 9.5” wide in front, these upgraded wheels come dressed in Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 tires mounted within the last 3k miles. The exterior is described to be in very good condition overall with mild signs of wear present on the hood and front bumper, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX.
Inside, the Stone Grey interior features factory leather Sport Seats, an upgraded Numeric Racing adjustable short shifter, and a full custom sound system including a Kenwood head unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 400-watt amplifier, and new JL speakers. A new headliner was professionally installed earlier in 2021 and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
This first-generation Cayman S is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six engine which has been upgraded with an EVOMS V-flow air intake, IPD Competition plenum, 83mm throttle body, a custom FVD Brombacher tune, and a SOUL Competition Performance Package exhaust with catted O2 spacers and long-tube headers. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission. The serpentine belt was replaced at 43k miles and service items addressed within the last 5k miles include installation of new Porsche calipers and brake pads, a brake fluid flush, and all new coil packs and spark plugs. A log of maintenance and upgrades carried out during the current ownership is provided in the gallery along with images of the undercarriage.
This sale will include a set of two keys and owner's manuals. The seller is currently awaiting a duplicate title which is expected to arrive in the next 2-3 weeks. @TB Good catch, @TB. I didn’t realize that was showing. The thin black wire is for the microphone which is connected to the rear of the head unit. It runs from the rear of the unit, up the pillar and across the headliner to the microphone. Hope that helps.

The winner of the auction is welcome to any of the parts I kept, with 2 caveats:
1. There is a very good chance that I kept all of the original parts. Offhand, I am not sure if literally every part was kept, so I would have to do a quick inventory to be precise. Please note that I'm not going to do that unless someone is serious about winning the auction (or has won the auction) AND wants the original parts. Just FYI, what I am sure of is that everything I did keep has been stored in a climate-controlled garage.
2. The OEM wheels are not included and won't be part of the deal. I plan to sell those separately at a later time.

@dvolkman66 You can’t change the IMS bearing.. 05.5-08 cayman, 911 and boxster is a non serviceable bearing… full motor tear down only
@AutoPerfection You can’t change out an IMS bearing in an 05.5-08 cayman, 911 or boxster…. They are fixed… you’d have to do a full motor tear down to change it

I did not have it corner balanced after lowering. The IMS has not been replaced during my ownership. IMS was on my “someday” list since it hadn’t shown any signs of issues to date.
@kephare Thanks @kephare! I was planning to swap out the hood badge for a black/silver one to match those on the wheels. That would give this car a nice “monochrome” vibe due to the consistent silver / grey / black coloring throughout. Just food for thought…

@rustynail58 The car has never been tracked while it belonged to me. Prior to my owning it, it was completely stock, so the likelihood of it ever being tracked is low in my opinion.

There is no record of flood damage prior to my ownership and the car has not been exposed to flooding while I’ve owned it. As long as I’ve owned the car, I have stored it in a climate-controlled garage during the winter months. So it’s never been exposed to road salt while in my possession. I
can see why from the photos you might think there are signs of corrosion, but as far as I can tell from my first-hand inspection, there are no signs of rust or salt damage anywhere on the car.
One thought I have that might explain what you are asking about is that I have taken the vehicle to a touchless car wash that sprays the undercarriage with pressurized water.
@PorscheGeek Thanks. The factory headliner adhesive failed and the material began sagging. It’s a common problem with this gen (check it out on YouTube). The replacement was done by a local professional auto interior business using commercial-grade headliner adhesive.

Can you explain why the under carriage supports appear to show water damage and show rust? Has this cayman been in a flood situation or is the suffrage support rust caused by road salt?

Thank you for checking out my auction! This 2006 Porsche Cayman S has been my "labor of love" for the past 7+ years, where I have put a lot of time and research into what I believe are tasteful and functional upgrades.
As a result, the car is a blast to drive - the difference is really like night and day from its original form. The Intake upgrades, coupled with the full Soul Performance exhaust makes a distinctive note that warms the heart of any Porsche / flat 6 enthusiast.
