The unique Carmon Red Metallic finish on this 987 is said to be in great shape.  There have been no noteworthy imperfections reported other than some touch-ups on the lower silver trim (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  Exterior features include an optional rear window wiper, Bi-Xenon headlights and red brake calipers situated behind factory 5-spoke wheels.

This Cayman is appointed with a Sand Beige interior featuring Adaptive Sport Seats.  Other options listed on the $75,155 original window sticker include automatic climate control, heated front seats, self-dimming mirrors and rain sensor, Porsche communication module (PCM 2.1), the Bose Surround Sound System and 6-disc remote CD changer.  The cabin is reported to be in very good condition with all functions and accessories working properly.

The sale of this 987 will include a set of 2 keys, owner’s books, service records and the original window sticker.  This beautifully presented 2006 example makes the perfect choice for any enthusiast in search of a 6-speed Cayman S.

Congratulations, Mitch. I owned a 2006 Cayman S and sold it for a 2002 911 Turbo X50. Let me just say, I truly miss the driving experience of the Cayman. Beautiful color combo with great rims. You’ll love it!

@Caymanorcarrera Please note: You can find the remaining time for the auction at the bottom of the listing page at all times. Hope this helps!

I see it now......ends in 2 days. Problem is , once you open the listing, you can't see it.

The other problem is we can't edit our comments (re-proof read them) after they are posted. Oh well,........spoiled by BaT (-:

Looks like a really nice little Croc, and a Seller that's being quite reasonable with his representation of it, give that he's apparently never really been the owner. Thank goodness he's selling it himself, and he didn't turn it over to a P dealer. OTOH, I suspect the market value is going to surprise some,.......ad I have mixed emotions. They're fantastic little cars and, although there are a lot of them out there, I think folks are appreciating more and more the strengths of old 6 cyl 987s.

We'll see. And how does one figure out when this reserve auction ends?

  • pvisco (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@wadds1971 Hi Dennis, I looked at the maintenance records which are posted and there is no indication that my father changed the tire rims. As far as I know the tires have always been 18' rather then 19' as listed in the car sticker. As for the adaptive sport seats they seem to work properly. Unfortunately I am not going to be at my fathers house until after the auction is over so I won't be able to take a video for you. As I have mentioned before, my father was a car enthusiast. He has owned several Porsche's , Mercedes, etc. He always took impeccable care of all of his cars.

    @pvisco Thank you.

  • pvisco (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@Mitch No, the ims bearing has not been replaced. The clutch is original to the car. I am going to have the maintenance records posted.

I'm going with some questions online, rather than PM's to the Seller, to hopefully get some quick input from experienced Porsche folks. Some issues:

    (1) The wheels on this car are 18" without colored crests on center caps. Should we assume the 19" Carrera wheels, with colored caps, that are noted on the original build sheet, are NOT with this car anymore?
    (2) Seems like a fair amount of staining/discoloration on the leather of the steering wheel, handbrake, and shift knob. Is this permanent, or would it respond well to careful cleaning and conditioning?
    (3) Do all functions of the Adaptive Sport Seats work properly, including the squab bolster adjustment system? Would these seats be more comfortable for a taller, larger driver than the regular sport seats, due to the side bolster adjustment? Or, would the standard seat be the best choice overall for a larger driver? I've never had a chance to try these seats before.
    (4) I really like the Sand Beige interior, but I've heard the top of the dash can throw reflections onto the windshield on bright days. Have others experienced any issues with this?
    (5) Seems an impossible request, as the Seller is not near the car apparently, but a cold start video, taken from the rear, would be nice to see, with an eye toward any initial smoking from either tailpipe. Any chance of that? Did the recent service report any issues like that at all?
    (6) Are the actual service records available since new, and can they be posted online over the next couple of days. CarFax is encouraging, but there were quite a few mentions of an "engine/drivetrain module" inspection over the years. What was this all about?

Thanks for comments from the Seller, as well as anyone who has experience in these areas.

Another question, if I may. Has the IMS bearing been replaced? This requires engine disassembly in a 2006 Cayman. I know the failure rate is low, but I have to ask. Also, is the clutch original to the car? Thanks. Mitch

  • Mitch (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

  • pvisco (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@Mitch Unfortunately I live 3 hours from the car. I just brought the car to Southampton Porsche for an annual maintenance and NYS inspection. All went well. I am leaving tomorrow am and will not be back until I have to give the car to the successful bidder. If you bid and win this car you will not be disappointed. It is in excellent condition and well cared for.
