Up for auction is this 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage finished in Goodwood Green over a two-tone green and beige leather interior.  In addition to its rare and unique color combination, this Vantage features a highly desirable 6-speed manual transmission connecting the driver to a naturally aspirated V8 engine.  Originally sold from Lake Forest Sportscars of Illinois, this V8 Vantage eventually made its way to California in 2013 where it is now being offered for auction with approximately 45k miles showing on the odometer.

This Aston Martin comes finished in Goodwood Green, a dark nonmetallic shade named for the estate of Goodwood House where the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed is held.  The window surrounds, fender vents, and exhaust finishers are chrome trimmed while the headlights, taillights, side markers, and reflector lenses have received a removable dark tint.  Other details include signature swan-wing doors, silver brake calipers with black lettering, and a twin-vented front bonnet.  Some minor signs of roadgoing wear are noted on the front end, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This Vantage rides on factory 19” seven-spoke wheels dressed in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires mounted within the last 2k miles.

The cabin is upholstered in two-tone green and beige leather with green carpets, a beige Alcantara headliner, and dark anthracite trim.  The sport bucket seats are power-adjustable and offer three-position memory settings.  Other features include power windows and door locks, air conditioning with automatic temperature control, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped shift knob.  An aftermarket radar detector and Bluetooth receiver have been equipped and the seller describes the cabin to be in very good condition with minimal signs of wear.

Assembled by hand at the AM facility in Cologne, Germany, the naturally aspirated 4.3L DOHC 32-valve V8 delivers up to 380 HP and 308 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.  Standard performance features include Dynamic Stability Control, four-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension, and a stainless-steel exhaust system with active bypass valves. Transmission and brake fluid services are said to have been completed and there are no outstanding maintenance items reported at this time.  CARFAX shows a California emissions inspection to have been completed in June of 2021.

This sale will include a clean title.  Sporting an outstanding color combination and rare 6-speed manual gearbox, this V8 Vantage is just waiting to be driven and enjoyed by a new owner.

Pretty pictures but all the reflections are a bit distracting. Are those paint chips in the grill and lower front fascia? Or just dirt and reflection from the road?

  • jduckworth (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jduckworth The new title has arrived and is in hand.

Cane to just look at a handsome car in rare spec, but the auction overall looks like it’s running just as tight. (No pun. But… good luck, Sir. And to all.)

@ClockWerks no issues with the title. The last owner couldn’t find the title so he requested a new one. My title is due today, according to DMV. I was delayed due to the black plates being considered personalized, last owner is out of country. Car is currently registered to me with 2022 tags. Feel free to message me directly and I’ll send you a copy of the registration, I have it with me.

@Tightt I still wasn’t able to get any paint readings on the fender or deck lid. Here are the other readings
    Driver door = 151
    Pass door = 158
    Below quarter window
    Driver = 136
    Pass = 135

    I’ll also submit for posting.

  • Tightt (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jduckworth Bumpers are tough because they're plastic...and generally not taken into consideration when asked if a car has paint work...so no worries there. ??
I can always overnight you my meter if you need it. ??

  • jduckworth (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jduckworth It looks like I need a non-ferrous paint meter. I’m trying to track one down.
    Thanks,

    Jon

  • jduckworth (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Tightt Looking again, my guy tried hatch, fender, bumper but not the doors. I’ll ask him to do it on the doors. I look forward to your message.
    Thanks,
    Jon

  • Tightt (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@jduckworth It's odd that the meter wouldn't provide a thickness on a flat surface such as a door. In any event, I'll message you...

  • jduckworth (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Tightt Thanks for your patience. My paint thickness reader would not give me any measurements in the areas you requested. I’m not sure if it is the area of the car or the quality of my reader. Feel free to message me and I’ll send you the photos.
There is no evidence of resprays on the car.
    Thanks,

    Jon

@Tightt Unfortunately, I won't be back to my garage until after dark so it will have to be tomorrow. I'll get additional paint readings with photos and eagle eyed inspection of the bumpers. I'll report the findings here and submit the photos for postings. I'm not sure if PCar uploads photos on the weekend but I'll certainly submit. Thanks.

  • jduckworth (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@SlloMoShun Hi, thanks for your detailed research. I assumed the bluetooth was aftermarket due to the exposed mic on the headliner but there is was seems to be a factory bluetooth symbol in front of the shifter. I took a photo will submit to PCar later this afternoon.

I'm glad you called the mechanic for more details, that was the intent of disclosing the service history. We never discussed the pedal feel or height of engagement. However, I do trust his judgement, he knows Astons. As we all know, the clutch is a wear item. If I weren't selling, I'd continue enjoying the car and replace when it failed.
    Jon

  • Tightt (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Do you have paint meter readings for other areas of the car such as the doors and quarter panels? Are there signs of paint work on the bumpers/fenders?

A couple of things. First, there appears to be some misconceptions and miscommunication regarding the “aftermarket Bluetooth receiver.” Reading between the lines, it looks like the Seller believes the Vantage didn’t originally come with Bluetooth and is assuming that since there is some sort of Bluetooth in the car, if must be aftermarket. That would be incorrect. The stock stereo has Bluetooth but is is PHONE ONLY. So you can pair your cell with the stereo and have hands free calling, etc. However the stock stereo does NOT support Bluetooth audio streaming, which is why having an aftermarket receiver might be an important consideration. The photos show no sign of an aftermarket receiver, but at one time there were some aftermarket adaptors that added audio streaming to the stock stereo and which fit out-of-sight in the dash. The kits were marketed for Volvos of that era but fit the Vantage too. The Seller will have to verify whether the stereo supports audio streaming. If it doesn’t, the stereo is stock and the claim that there is an aftermarket Bluetooth receiver should be withdrawn.

As far as I know, the aftermarket adaptors are no longer being made. There’s a YouTube video on installing one if you want to know more.

Second, I spoke to the mechanic at Penninsula. He generally had a high opinion of the car and of the V-8 Vantage in general. However, he was less than positive about the clutch condition. He suspects the clutch is original and also suspects it is near the end of its service life. His specific reasoning is that the clutch feels too heavy and when it reaches that state it puts too great a strain on the slave cylinder and it will fail in a relatively short period of time.

The transmission is Graziano (Ferrari), so unlike some Aston repairs there is no cheap, Ford-related clutch assembly available. The Graziano is a rock solid transmission and other than clutch replacements should not need any repairs.

He might be wrong about the clutch life, of course, but this guy really knows Astons so I’d bid with the knowledge that if I win I’ll be paying for a new clutch pretty soon.

@guessnot Thanks for viewing and your questions. I do not have full service records. The previous owner started servicing the car at Peninsula European in 2016 which is also where I got the car serviced. When I asked Peninsula for previous records he suggested I have potential buyers contact him directly. When I took the car to him in June 2021, I asked him to perform any and all services necessary which resulted in the transaxle service, brake flush, tires, and door struts. I do have that receipt which I will upload tomorrow. I do know that he did not replace the during his service tenure, 2016 to present. I asked him if I should replace the clutch and he said the clutch feels normal with no slipping or chatter, why waste the money until it fails. Made sense to me. He last drove the car about 2 weeks ago (I knew this question was coming), and again, everything feels normal. Peninsula European is the go to shop for many Aston owners. If you take a look at recent Aston auctions on the other site, you will see references to the same shop. Thanks.

  • guessnot (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Does the car include full service records? Is the clutch original?

  • jduckworth (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Handsofstone Thanks for your clarification. The radio is original so I believe a Bluetooth adapter was installed. The interior video shows the mic in the upper left hand corner of the headliner. There is also a Bluetooth light that illuminates when the ignition is turned on. The owner at Peninsula European was paired when I serviced the car but I’ve never tried, I use AirPods. I have the remote control for the radar detector but again never tried. I’ll submit additional photos this evening of details of both items.

  • Handsofstone (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Maybe I am reading the listing wrong and the Bluetooth receiver is for the Radar Detector?

"An aftermarket radar detector and Bluetooth receiver have been equipped....."

  • jduckworth (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Handsofstone Sorry, no umbrella. I’m not sure what you mean by original radio? Happy to answer when clarified.

Apologies for the misunderstanding. I spoke to my guy the took the car out for photos, he said the hood was not all the way up and there was a gust of wind. I’m happy to take a video of the hood in various positions in my garage if you like. Please let me know

@wheelandgood Thanks for commenting. There are no issues with any of the struts. I replaced the door door struts in May 2021.
The windshield is not heated. But the car does have heated seats, 2 settings.

  • wheelandgood (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Does the car have a heated front windscreen? In the video it looks like the hood drops down by itself. Is a new strut needed?
