Available for auction is this 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster replica by Intermeccanica finished in Black over a matching leather interior. One of the foremost builders of Speedster tributes, Intermeccanica was founded in Italy in 1959 and designed their first 356 replicas in 1976. This example was built in 2007 and features a 2,322cc air-cooled engine mated to a Porsche 901 5-speed manual gearbox as well as full leather heated seats, power accessories, and a modern Pioneer stereo. Having spent life between three private car collections, this high-end Speedster replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York showing under 6k miles on the odometer.
Finished in Black, the hand-laid composite bodywork is paired with a tubular steel perimeter chassis designed and fabricated in-house by Intermeccanica. Equipment includes a matching soft top and boot cover, gold badging, chrome bumpers and trim, dual mirrors, a dual center-exit exhaust, and staggered width 15” steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. These wheels come dressed in a set of 185/65 and 205/60 Dunlop SP Sport A2 tires from 2007. A small paint chip is noted on the driver-side fender and is measured at approximately 1/8th of an inch, additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin features a pair of heated roadster seats upholstered in black leather with matching door panels and charcoal square weave carpeting. Additional features include a modern Pioneer radio with Bluetooth, power windows and door locks, a set of black and grey Coco floor mats, VDO instrumentation, a three-speed heater blower, and a wood-rimmed Derrington flat steering wheel with a crested horn button. The seller notes minimal signs of wear throughout and confirms all gauges and accessories work properly.
Power comes from a 2,332cc air-cooled engine built by CB Performance which features 44mm IDF Webber Carburetors, an oil cooler, and a full ceramic coated exhaust with heat exchangers. As much as 170 HP and 172 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels by way of a Porsche 901 5-speed manual gearbox. Standard routine maintenance is said to have been kept up to date throughout the years.
