We are pleased to offer this 2007 Mercedes-Benz R230 SL55 AMG finished in Black over a black leather interior. Powered by a supercharged 5.4L V8 engine, this SL55 also came optioned with the Performance Package (P30) which includes an Alcantara trimmed steering wheel, a limited-slip differential, an additional oil cooler, revised front bumper, AMG Brembo brakes, AMG Active Suspension, and modular 19″ wheels. Sold new by Berberian European Motors of California at an original cost of over $154k, this SL55 AMG has been thoroughly serviced under the care of its current owner since 2017 and is now being offered for auction out of Connecticut with approximately 72k miles showing on the odometer.
This R230 was ordered in nonmetallic Black (040) with a matching retractable hardtop. The SL55 features the AMG Styling Package as standard, and the optional P30 Performance Package includes the more aggressive front fascia of the SL65 model. The exterior has been recently treated to professional wet-sanding and paint correction, and clear protective film has been applied over the hood and front bumper. As noted on the CARFAX report in 2018, the front bumper was damaged and subsequently replaced and painted, additional images are provided in the gallery along with the full CARFAX report. The P30 Performance Package includes 19” AMG staggered-width two-piece double-spoke alloy wheels. The tires were reportedly mounted within the last year and retain approximately 85% tread.
The cabin is upholstered in Black Nappa leather with burl walnut wood trim and Designo Anthracite Alcantara headliner. The P30 Performance Package also adds an Alcantara-trimmed sport steering wheel. Additional equipment includes Distronic cruise control, Parktronic parking assist, Voice Control, Active Ventilated Seats, Bi-Xenon headlamps, corner-illuminating foglamps, an electronic trunk closer, the Harman/Kardon Logic 7 surround-sound system, Comand infotainment system, and Keyless-Go entry. AMG-specific instrumentation consists of a 200 MPH speedometer, a 6,500-RPM redline tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The seller notes a small tear in the upholstery towards the bottom of the driver side door as well as some scratches on the door sills.
This SL55 AMG carries a supercharged 5.4L M113 V8 engine producing up to 510 HP and 531 lb-ft of torque. The P30 package raises the electronically governed top speed to 186 MPH and includes an additional oil cooler, "Nurburgring" specification AMG Active Suspension, the AMG Compound Braking System, and an AMG locking differential. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed AMG SpeedShift automatic transmission that allows for both automatic and manual gear changes with the paddle shifters mounted on the steering column. A larger intercooler has been installed along with an upgraded Johnson high-output intercooler pump, and the original intercooler is said to accompany the sale. Service carried out in the Fall of 2020 included the installation of a new radiator, a supercharger oil change, new tires, and a rebuild of the front brake calipers with Racing Brakes high-temperature seals and new dust boots. In 2021, the spark plugs were replaced along with the ECU, shift paddles, transmission fluid and filter, rear differential fluid, an oil change, new front brake pads and rotors, and an ABC system flush. The battery was recently replaced, and the seller reports the SBC brake system to be under warranty until 2032. The car also recently passed a Connecticut state emissions test.
This sale will include a collection of service records and a clean title. A powerful and luxurious grand touring roadster, this well-maintained SL55 AMG awaits its next owner.

I have all the service records including the Insurance claim for the bumper cover. A piece of wood hit it on the highway and cracked the bottom middle of the cover, it was only the bumper cover that was damaged. I'll upload a picture of the damage.

@SL55AMG Whichever way you look at it, it is still a very low number/rare car. It's less than 3 cars per each US state. These cars are already heading upward in value and I think that will continue. The new R232 announced today looks a bit glitzy for my liking, but maybe I will get used to its looks over time. These last SL55s are classics and by the time the 2007-08 models were made, all the bugs and glitches of the earlier ones had been worked out. My car has not had any problems in the 10 years that I have owned it (my 2003 SL55 was another story altogether)...

@SL55AMG I have a 2008 P30 and when I bought it was told the ‘about 40 in the US’ line by the dealer, but wasn’t sure if it was for all 2006-2008 or just 2008. A few years later I started tracking P30s coming up for sale on line and when I exceeded 40, I decided to get more proactive. Once I cracked MBZ’s VIN-numbering logic, I went through a very comprehensive ‘reverse number lookup’ to identify all SL55s world-wide, the US models and then the P30 subset. MY2006 cars started around serial # 105,000 and the 2008s finished around #142,000, so a lot of cars to search through. Although the last 6 digits of the VIN/FIN number are consecutive, the various ‘flavors’ of R230s are intermixed and even model years can be intermixed, so there is no clear-cut ‘changeover’ from one MY to the next. The numbers I quoted are accurate, as I have all the VIN numbers to back them up. Few years ago, the AMG Private Lounge quoted 2006-2008 US SL55 sales as 860, 583 and 464 respectively. My count says 798, 969 and 460. There can be some fluidity between the years depending on whether you count model years, calendar years or production dates. Fun fact- only the last 7 of the MY2008 cars were actually produced in 2008. All the rest were made in calendar 2007 as MY2008s. I have a thread for SL55 P30s on 6speedonline.com. @VRV000 Are you sure? An MB Executive told me the 34 number when I had said a higher number.
To clarify, in the US the P30 option was available on the R230 SL55 in MY ‘06, ‘07 and ‘08. In 2006 it was present on 167 cars, 137 in 2007 and 62 cars in 2008. 'One of 366' is still a pretty rare distinction. In addition, 28 Canadian market 2007 SL55s had P30 and 11 MY 2008s. Some of those cars may have also permeated into the US over the years.

This SL55 AMG is one of 34 made with the P30 Performance Package described in the listing, a truly rare car! This car has been over maintained and needs nothing, but a new owner. While not perfect, what car is, it's in outstanding condition. All major maintenance items have been done, ABC, Transmission, Rear End, Radiator replaced{ didn't need it, it was the O rings in the hoses}, Brake Fluid flush, front Rotors and Pads.
