The second generation of Porsche’s roadgoing GT3 homologation car, the 997 version debuted with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), advanced “zero lift” aerodynamics, and a new 3.6-liter Mezger engine producing over 400 HP. One of less than a thousand units reportedly sold in North America, this Porsche 997.1 GT3 comes finished in GT Silver Metallic over a Black leather interior and features the Sport Chrono Package Plus, Sound Package Plus, Adaptive Sport seats, painted interior trim, and more. Meticulously maintained and stored in a climate-controlled garage, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York showing approximately 20k miles on the odometer.

This GT3 comes finished in GT Silver Metallic, one of Porsche’s longest-running paint codes. A set of aftermarket staggered-width 19” HRE P40S wheels are dressed in newer Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The seller adds that this car has never been subjected to track use, this example has achieved numerous concours awards throughout New York, and Xpel paint protection film has been applied to the front end including the front bumper, hood, and mirrors. The ride height has been adjusted with H&R lowering springs and minor scuff marks on the underside of the front spoiler. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The interior is trimmed in black leather and Alcantara. The switch panel, gear level trim, and instrumentation surround are optionally painted in GT Silver Metallic. Other optional equipment includes Adaptive Sport Seats along with black floor mats, the PCM Package in leather, PCM 2.1, Sport Chrono Package, Sound Package Plus, Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, self-dimming mirrors, and rain sensors.

The 997 GT3 generates as much as 415 HP and 300 lb.-ft of torque from a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Mezger engine. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4 seconds to a top speed of 190 MPH. Standard performance features include a locking rear differential, traction control, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), and vented disc brakes paired with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear clippers. The seller adds that an engine-out service included the installation of tig-welded Shark Werks coolant lines and notes that the prior coolant system did not leak and the fan belt squeaks. Additionally, the seller reports notable service items since February of 2020 including a wheel alignment and replacements of the coil packs and plugs, water pump, power steering lines, clutch bearing, fan belt and two pullies, windshield fluid pump, ignition clutch switch, and all filters and fluids flushed including oil, coolant transmission, and power steering fluids. The most recent oil and filter change was carried out with Chrome Molly oil in January of 2023.

This sale will include a clean title, a window sticker, and two keys.

    Seems like a good deal.
IMO, the lack of factory wheels made this one more affordable.

@RichJ1970 The on/off button controls the TC, Traction Control. The DME report was done when I took possession of the and since then I can recall not shifting past 6500.
The work order receipts prior to when I took possession (19 pages) reported the replacement of tires and brakes from normal wear, HRE wheels, fluid changes and a rear main seal under factory warranty.
Please let me know if you need anything else.

  • RichJ1970 1 year, 2 monthsago

One other little thing -- what does that on/off button in the cubby in front of the shifter do? Thanks!

  • RichJ1970 1 year, 2 monthsago

Great look looking car. Just digging through the posted records this morning. Do you have more records than what is posted? If you have more, it would be great to see them posted, or at least summarized here in the comments. I noticed that the over-rev DME report is dated February 2020 (the date in the lower right corner ). Was that test run after you took possession of the car? Thank you.

  • GT3forme (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

The paint on this car is original and with good depth and luster. The Expel vinyl installed on the entire front offers longevity.

  • GT3forme (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

@Bruno911 I agree. Spot on. Thank you for your comment.

  • Bruno911 1 year, 2 monthsago

GT Silver is such a spectacular color and quite rare on GT3s of this generation. Silver is often dismissed as a “generic” color along with black and white, but when you see this particular shade in person, under different lighting conditions, only then can you understand what a complex and awesome color it is.

@TubeGuy The over condition of the car, DME and service records leads me to believe it has not been tracked, but true I really don't know. The HRE P0S are priced at $6,000 for the set and are gorgeous. Maybe you can move a few things around in you garage and fit this GT3 beauty next to the one you currently own, LOL.
    Thank you for your comments.

  • TubeGuy (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

@GT3forme Yes...I did drive my GT Silver 911 in California rain last week, and it didn't melt much to my surprise. I had just washed it and was pissed. After it dried you couldn't even tell.

Not sure how you can say it's never been tracked. You bought it in 2020? Nothing leads me to believe it was tracked. DME is perfect, and sometimes you see cars that have Carfax reports of a lot of tire or brake services, none of which are shown here.

If I were looking for another GT3 this really looks good. If somebody wants to be nitpicky about no stock wheels they come up for sale quite often.

    Thank you.

Nice blue flame exhaust tips. I have them on my White .2GT3. I think they are my favorite part. Except for the sound…

@TubeGuy Thank you for your comments. Throughout the years I try my best to keep my Porsche cars well serviced.
The color GT Silver is also my favorite color on a GT3. And, true even in the rain, (my cars are not driven in the rain nor in the winter) the car looks great as you can see a few sprinkles came down while doing a photo shoot on this car.
    Thank you.

  • TubeGuy (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

Great looking car and without a doubt you are a conscientious owner. I have a white .2 and had a GT silver GT3. GT silver works on this car so well. You must see it in person.

It's my favorite silver so I bought a 991.1 GTS in GT Silver. What's crazy about that color is it always looks great even if it was rained on.

Nice car. This is the way to buy one if you are not inclined to need to work on it.

    @Rich_in_VA Hello Rich,
The existing springs were replaced with H&R springs. The was lowered not by the springs, rather by adjustable spring perches on struts.
I've uploaded (2) work orders regarding lowering the by 1", work performed: 08/11/2010

6/5/2020: Wheel Alignment by TKX showing front and rear ride heights.
    I hope this helps.
    Thank you

    19X12 HRE ET60 M P40S $1,450. Each. (2) $2,900

  • Rich_in_VA 1 year, 2 monthsago

H&R doesn’t seem to sell lowering springs for the 997 GT3, but they do sell a monotube coilover that replaces the OEM shocks and springs. Do you know which H&R product is installed?

  • GT3forme (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

To your point the wheels have been changed.
    Thank you.

  • Tangerine997 (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

@GT3forme thanks and yes I'm well versed in what those mods do, my point was that since the car has them and not the original wheels it's not bone stock or unmolested as mentioned.

  • GT3forme (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

Tangerine997, Thank you for your comments.
Tig welded coolant lines are superior to Porsche's application using an adhesive.
The H&R springs allow suspension adjustments to lower the car offering superior handling.
I do not have the original GT3 wheels.
    Molested, no, Improved upon, yes.
    Thank you.

  • Tangerine997 (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

@GT3forme Wayne, great looking spec with the HRE's and some nice low key mods like the springs and Shark Werks lines but given those facts you really can't say it's unmolested.
I'm guessing you don't have the original GT3 wheels?
A DME report would be nice prior to the end of the auction.
    Thanks.
