Now up for auction is this 2007 Porsche 997 GT3 finished in Carrara White.  Among the last of the GT3s to have been equipped with the coveted Mezger flat-six engine, this 2007 example was configured at an original sticker price of over $138k with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Sound Package Plus, Chrono Package Plus, and a Black Special Leather interior featuring Exclusive painted trim, instrument dials in Guards Red, and seatbelts in Speed Yellow.  It was purchased by the second and current owner from a dealer in 2011 at just over 1k miles and came upgraded with Techart headlight covers, a custom performance tune, a sequential manual shifter, carbon bucket seats, a roll bar, a full Cargraphic exhaust system, and much more.  Now with approximately 22k miles showing on the odometer, this GT3 is being offered for auction by its owner out of Colorado.

This GT3 came finished in Carrara White and has been customized with a gloss-black painted rear wing, carbon fiber mirror housings, a white-painted rear model logo, silver front emblem, Techart headlight covers, and a GT3 Cup front spoiler lip.  Cargraphic front bumper screens have also been installed along with a carbon fiber front air vent.  Paint protection film covers the front hood, front fenders, and rear quarter panels.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  The original 19” GT3 wheels have all been custom powder coated in gloss black and dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires in 2018 at 21,500 miles.

Inside, you will find a Black Special Leather interior with a host of Exclusive options including instrument dials in Guards Red, seatbelts in Racing Yellow, and a rear center console painted in the exterior color.  The switch panel also came finished in the exterior color along with the instrument panel, belt outlets, PCM surround, and dashboard trim strip.  Other notable factory features include Chrono Package Plus, Sound Package Plus, PCM 2.1 with telephone module, a storage compartment lid with embossed model logo, floor mats with colored trim, and self-dimming mirrors with an integrated rain sensor.  The cabin has also been outfitted with a white-painted roll bar, painted shifter surround, upgraded aluminum pedal covers, custom laser-engraved five-point harnesses, GT2 folding back carbon-fiber bucket seats with Alcantara inserts, a fire extinguisher with chrome mounting bracket, and a digital gear display mounted in the instrument cluster.  All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly, although an error light is present due to the aftermarket exhaust system.

This first-generation 997 GT3 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six Mezger engine that sends up to 415 HP and 300 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.  Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) were optioned from the factory and this GT3 has also been upgraded with a full Cargraphic GT3 Kit 6 exhaust system and  Cartronic sequential shifter as well as an adjustable toe steer kit, adjustable rear link kit, and a custom flashed performance ECU.  These upgrades were installed along with the cosmetic modifications by Stuttgart Performance of California at a cost of nearly $40k, and corresponding invoices are provided in the photo gallery.  Service records are also provided from Autometrics Inc. showing a major engine-out service to have been performed in 2017 at just over 20k miles including replacement of the engine crankcase, pinned coolant pipes, new bearings, gaskets, rod bolts, and ignition components.

This sale will include a set of two master keys, one spare valet key, service records, and a clean title. With no expense spared on high-end upgrades and proper maintenance, this outstanding GT3 is just waiting to be enjoyed by a new owner.

@TMR3 Great question, I have no answer as I have never tested that.

  • TMR3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Not sure you can answer this. What happens if the shifter is pushed and the clutch is not engaged

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TMR3 Yes, I have kept the original rotors on the entire time on since I've owned it. Minimal track time. OEM pads replaced 1x, & the car comes with the Original set, which have approx. 1/3 life left.

  • TMR3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Were the CC rotors on the car for the track days? Have pads been replaced during ownership

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Well Gentlemen, we have 3 approx. hours left before we see who will be the lucky new owner of this incredible 997.1 GT3.
Based on all the research I've done, I am confident the reserve will be met !
It is more than fair & I'm good with it.

My only hope, is that the new owner plan on coming to Durango in person to take possession, & have a most exhilarating journey driving home in one of the finest
    sports cars ever built !

The way I've always been so fortunate to experience buying Porsche, I want for you !

    Good Luck to all !

    Kurt

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@10figs Thank you for pointing that out. The car did not come to me with the White spoiler, so YES the spoiler is what is in the current photos Furthermore, I do not have that White spoiler.
    Never even saw it!

  • 10figs (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Hi, can we assume the black front spoiler is on the vehicle from the most recent pics (not the white one from the video)? Thanks

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@pearcecs Car came with a complete Cargraphics exhaust system, including Cats. At some point, a Red light appeared on my dash, scared the heck out of me. I got off the highway & happened to be near Strong Porsche, in Salt Lake City. Called them & spoke with the head Porsche mechanic. He asked me if the light was solid or blinking, it was solid. He told me not to be concerned, had the light been blinking, different story. I drove over to the dealership, he connected the ECU to take a diagnostic test. It registered an error code on the left bank Cat, he said my ECU did not like the it, that they see it all the time when stock exhaust systems are replaced with aftermarket ones on GT3's. Nothing to be worried about, so I knew my motor was just fine, which of course was my only concern! Regarding "downpipes", NO. Regarding passing a Colorado emission test. I have never had a single issue re-registering it in 11 years. From my understanding, the only emission requirements in Colorado, are Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglass, & Jefferson Counties.

  • robjohnson52 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@PCARMARKET Thanks for showing me how to do this. Really appreciate it.

  • pearcecs (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Can you explain a bit more about the error you're recieving from the exhaust? Have downpipes been replaced? Will this pass CO emissions?

  • PCARMARKET 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TheFrizWiz “Bidders may reach out to the seller directly using the “contact seller” button. There you can privately share contact information to set up the test drive, etc). Thank you

  • robjohnson52 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TheFrizWiz yep, looks like I will bid against the others and see what happens. I will call them Monday morning to discuss. Really appreciate your responses.

  • robjohnson52 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TheFrizWiz I would let them list my 6 if we can work through this.

  • robjohnson52 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TheFrizWiz thank you, I do understand the commission structure and want to play by the rules. It would just be nice to talk and/or see the car in person.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@robjohnson52 I am going to see if I can locate the contract, & what the rules for exchanging info. This is my first time selling a Porsche with them.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@robjohnson52 - Great question, I really don't know the answer. I don't want to rock the boat, and make the boys running the show think a potential buyer, & myself would go around them. They have been great, & without their help & website, I would not have been able to reach so many people. They deserve & will get the 5% above final sale price, if my reserve is met, how ever it goes down. I don't think I can reach them over the weekend.

  • robjohnson52 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TheFrizWiz how would I go about obtaining your address and phone number on this site? Haven't been able to figure that out.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@robjohnson52 Why don't you consider flying into Durango? That's the way I've always bought. I like to see what I buying, especially drive it. I would be more than happy to pick you up at the airport, (convenient, direct flight here & back) & have you pilot it. Is does fly, just not off the ground...Almost! LOL !

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@robjohnson52 - While I'm sure yours is an absolute blast to drive, nothing compares to the overall performance of the GT3 experience. Get yourself a GT3, even if it ends up not being mine. You will never, ever regret it !

  • robjohnson52 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TheFrizWiz It's my 3rd one. This with a 2.7 l carerra motor, side shifter, set up for street/track use. Did a lot of PCA stuff in the 70s/80s. Perfect shape like yours. Will probably sell it if I am successful finding a GT3. Live in Prescott AZ, about 7 hrs from Durango.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@robjohnson52 You are Welcome, thanks for your interest. Wish you all could visit the car in person, that is pretty much what I've always done! Time & ability is the factor. That 914-6 of your's beat on everything back in the day, with a great driver.

  • robjohnson52 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TheFrizWiz Thanks for the clarification, appreciate the response. Beautiful car. Hot rodded 914-6 owner and looking for a 997 GT3.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@robjohnson52 - This car has not been driven much after the work done by Autometrics. Have many past records, hasn't needed new maintenance. Note : All the extensive, co$tly work that this car has received. Also note this : I't is a 2007, makes it 14 year's old, has 22,600 TOTAL MILES . That would indicate a total annual miles driven of 1614, over the life of the car. Oil has changed no less than 7x's, and many times annually. Last full service oil/filter change was fall of 2019. One again, I have not driven a whole lot the past 4 year's. The car's been my baby since I bought it in 2011. I invite you to come check it out in person...for yourself ! The car did not come with any instructions regarding setting the suspension, however I did have a street/track setting applied year's ago. Finally since you're probably wondering why I am selling it, if it wasn't for the fact my wife & I are going to build a home in Mexico, nobody would have seen this car, because I would have never offered it !

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Rennmacher Drilled into the instrument cluster.

  • Rennmacher (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Regarding the Gear Indicator Light in the Gauges is that drilled into the Gauges or how is it fixed in place?

  • robjohnson52 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

I see invoices for work and some maintenance records. Does the car come with complete current documentation and are there any instructions that are available for making adjustments to the aftermarket components installed on the car such as suspension type upgrades. Thanks

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@gblue In order from the *top on the gear indicator light. Reverse, 0Neutral, 1,2,3,4,5,6. Pulling shifter *back, upshifts, *pushing forward downshifts.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@gblue No you cannot go into neutral from any gear. Say you're in 3rd, you then must downshift to second (forward on the shifter), same into first, then into neutral.
Once again Stuttgart RSS installed the gear indicator light up on the dash (as shown) when installing the entire system. I really like that feature a lot.
Also, if you guys go onto Utube & search "GT3 Sequential Shifter", you will find at least 1 good video for a better feel. All I can say it, it is an absolute blast to play with. Also, the chance of a mis-shift or over-rev are pretty much eliminated.

  • gblue (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Also can you go from any gear directly to neutral?

  • gblue (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    Great shifts…where is neutral?

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TubeGuy - The crankcase was damaged upon removing the air pressure relief valve, to be exact upon torqueing (loosening) that bolt. It broke off small piece on the inside bottom where it screws in to the casing. It was a mistake by the mechanic who based on past experience I thought could properly do a simple oil change ! I was devastated to say the least !

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TubeGuy - Had a great idea to show a video of how to operate the "sequential shifter". That video should be coming on-line soon.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Hoss33 Photos of complete front & back rear wheels are being uploaded now. You can evaluate the pics for yourself, but from my perspective & knowledge, you won't find a cleaner example out there, all things being equal. YES all electronics work properly. YES, the Cargraphic's exhaust system did include Cats.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Hoss33 Most certainly & thank you for starting us out with your opening bid. I will get those pictures later this morning. As for the cats, sounds like you're in a state with stringent emissions regulations, thus this would be relevant. Answer is, I don't actually know. I will have the answer verified shortly.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TMR3 12-15 hr.s, which was done between 2011 & 2015, all DE's with the PCA. I welcomed instruction from those with much more experience than I had, so it was never about trying to be Patrick Long, (LOL) or seeing what kind of elapsed time I could do. I decided, my car is still so clean, that I also really enjoy driving off track, that was it. Has not seen one track day for 6 year's. Make no mistake about it though, this is a race car, & this one does belong on the track way more than I was willing to give it.

  • TMR3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

How much track time has the car seen?

  • Hoss33 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

When convenient can you grab a few more photos of the panels behind and front and rear wheels. Much peppering or chipping from rocks etc? Also assuming all electronics (PCM, windows, radio, etc.)are in good working order? Are there cats in the headers or catless?

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Sorry guys, as a result of a continuing rainstorm, we won't be doing a video ride-a-long, *Sequential Shifting sequence until tomorrow.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@TubeGuy - Great idea TG regarding a video of the sequential shifter in action. As soon as it stops raining (my Porsches never go out in the rain), I am going to do just that. I will post that video as soon as possible. Thanks for the thought.

Regarding the replacement crankcase. You're correct, I spared no expense on getting it back to where it was before the incident. The original crankcase damage was the result of the oil pressure relief valve bolt being inadvertently removed during an oil change. The result was a brand new OEM crankcase from Porsche. Most comforting is, all the work was done by Autometric's, Gordon Friedman. I shipped the car across the country, & let him do his thing, with 100% confidence on my end ! In the end, my car was put back into even better condition than before ! In essence, this is a new motor.

  • Hoss33 2 years, 8 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $90,000

  • TubeGuy (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

It might be a good idea to do a video of driving a sequential shifter so you don't scare off the uninitiated. It's a lot of fun, but different.

Also maybe explain the big service with crankcase. Did it start off small then get bigger as they dug in? The good news is from appearance you spared no expense on making sure it was done right.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@_patrick - Only *original parts to accompany the car are the First set of brake pads which have about 1/3 life left. The new owner will also have the option of requesting they receive the Original crankcase, with delivery of the car.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@_patrick ~ Great question _patrick, (1) I anticipated. The answer is no ! I think it is safe to assume, most prospective buyers would prefer to have the regular 6 speed 'H' shift pattern. I recently did some research on changing it back over, & that can be done by the right person. Approximate cost would be $3500-$4500. For me, I totally enjoyed the Sequential shift, whereby you still have to clutch in on every upshift & downshift. You still heel & toe if wanting to. It's a blast, fast, somewhat like a cup car.

  • _patrick (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Any of the original parts included? Specifically, the original parts for the shifter?

  • CBRacerX (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Replacement Engine Case. Wow. Porosity I assume. Nice assortment of interior updates.

  • TheFrizWiz (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Let's roll it out on the Red carpet guys ! KL
