We are pleased to offer this 2007 Porsche 997.1 GT3 Cup race car finished in orange. Based on the GT3, the 997 GT3 Cup is a purpose-built factory race car featuring lightweight construction, improved aerodynamics, full safety equipment, and a host of high-performance upgrades. This GT3 is a 2007 World Challenge Factory specification Porsche Motorsports race car, which was first raced in the 2009 season by the Brass Monkey Racing team and Kelly Moss Motorsports. The car is said to have placed first in its inaugural race at Sebring. It was acquired by the seller approximately eight years ago and was subsequently used for HPDE events before being entered into Porsche Club of America events for the next three years. It was run at Circuit of the Americas and last at Eagle Canyon raceway where it finished first overall. It features a 3.8L flat-six Mezger, anti-lock motorsport Bosch brakes, JRZ coilovers, a full FIA roll-cage, a fire suppression system, a MoTec digital datalogger, a Recaro Halo seat, and more. It is now being offered for sale by its seller out of Texas, showing a reported 27 hours on the rebuilt engine and 21 hours on the rebuilt gearbox.
All factory Cup cars come finished in solid white and feature lightweight carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) body panels. This example has been finished in orange and is said to retain its original tub. Paint protection film has been applied to the front end, and a new Racing Optics 4-layer tear-off pack has been installed on the front windshield. New front and rear Lexan windscreens were installed in 2020. While the body is noted to be free of dents, the finish shows some imperfections. The seller has provided additional images which can be found in the gallery. Details include lightweight Lexan windows, aero mirrors, a large rear spoiler, a center-fill hood, and 18” BBS 3-piece ultra-light center-lock wheels with Hankook Ventus F200 racing tires. The seller notes that two of the tires are new and the other six are slightly used, and that a new inner BBS wheel and rebuild kit will accompany the car.
Inside, you will find a lightweight racing cockpit devoid of any unnecessary amenities. This example is outfitted with a Recaro Halo racing seat, a MOMO steering wheel, a central control panel, a full FIA roll cage, a window net, a fire suppression system, and a MoTec digital dash data logger with a remote GPS antenna. The seller confirms that all gauges, electronics, and accessories remain functional.
Power comes from a 3.8L flat-six cylinder Mezger engine which has been fitted with lightweight stainless steel motorsport-grade M&M exhaust and headers. In 2010 World Challenge race series Cup car specifications were updated, and under the care of the previous owner the original 3.6L engine was updated to the more powerful 3.8L in accordance with the new rules. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed sequential manual gearbox with a Sachs triple ceramic clutch. Bosch Motorsport anti-lock brakes were retrofitted by Porsche, as the car did not come factory equipped as such and World Challenge rules permitted their use. Stopping power is provided by Brembo calipers, GT3 rotors, Pagid race pads, and Castrol SRF brake fluid. The GT3 RSR-derived suspension features JRZ coilovers which are said to have been recently rebuilt. The engine was rebuilt by EvoSpec Performance of Phoenix, Arizona, while the transmission was rebuilt by Bill Rader Motorsports of Las Vegas, Nevada. Other features include an adjustable brake bias control unit, an FIA-certified FuelSafe 27-gallon fuel cell, and four FPLP fuel pumps. The seller notes that the car completed its last race without issue, and was serviced prior to that by DriverSource of Houston, Texas.
This GT3 is accompanied by a car cover and a bill of sale.
