This 2007 Porsche 997 Turbo was initially delivered to Jackie Cooper Imports of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was ordered in Arctic Silver Metallic over a black full leather interior, optioned with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Sport Chrono Package, a multifunction steering wheel, BOSE sound system, Porsche Active Stability Management (PASM), and heated seats. It was acquired by the seller in January of 2017 from the owner of Boost Logic out of Austin, Texas. It had been fitted with numerous upgrades including a Cobb Accessport V3 tuner with a Stage 2 custom tune by Boost Logic, a Fabspeed carbon fiber cold air intake, a Sachs clutch, Rennline engine mounts, 19” Forgestar wheels, Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, Eibach sway bars, an adjustable Numeric Racing shifter, MODE monoball upper shock mounts, and a custom Guards Red roll cage. It also sports a Techart-style front lip spoiler, an updated Euro-spec rear bumper, updated LED taillights, a 997.2 GT3 RS carbon fiber decklid, a 2010 GT3 Cup decklid spoiler, Moshammer side skirts, custom Bimarco Cobra III seats, an OMP Super Quadro flat-bottomed steering wheel, and more. Having spent the last several years with its owner stationed in Germany, this Turbo is now being offered for auction out of North Carolina showing just under 65k miles on the odometer.

The exterior is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic (92T) and features a Better Bodies USA Techart-style front lip, Joe Toth dive planes, a GT3RS decklid and carbon wing blade, a 2010 GT3 Cup spoiler with matching uprights and custom endplates, an OEM European-spec 997.2 rear bumper, OEM 997.2 LED tail lights, satin black Moshammer side skirts and intake vents, a red Falline Motorsports tow strap, custom OEM matte black Porsche headlights, color-matched OEM headlight washer nozzles, smoked DEPO side markers, and Soul Performance GT2-Style brushed exhaust tips. The gloss black 19” Forgestar F54 wheels are mounted with studs, spacers, and Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires from 2019. The CARFAX report shows an incident that occurred in 2017 resulting from damage to the right fender while in transit to Germany, and the entire front end was subsequently repainted. The seller also notes a scuff on the front bumper, a small scrape on the passenger door, touched-up chips on the passenger side quarter panel, minor scuffs on both door edges, and a small crack in the paint on the upper right corner of the license plate cutout on the rear bumper. The seller reports this 997 Turbo was driven twice on the Nürburgring; detailed images are provided in the gallery along with the complete CARFAX report.

The interior features two Bimarco Cobra III seats upholstered in black cloth with custom embroidered Porsche emblems in the headrests, painted seatbacks, and OEM Guards Red safety belts. The seller also added a custom Guards Red powder coated roll cage, an OEM Porsche GT2 Guards Red Alcantara storage compartment cover, a Guards Red Alcantara shift knob, a Guards Red/Black Alcantara parking brake handle, custom Heiler Technodesign Guards Red instrument faces, and Guards Red GT3 RS-style door pulls. Other details include an H&R Performance fire extinguisher and Rennline floor mount, an Alcantara-wrapped OMP Super Quadro flat-bottomed steering wheel with a Guards Red 12 o’clock marking and relocated turn signals, high beam, and horn buttons, a black Alcantara headliner, a Numeric Racing adjustable ball-bearing shifter, deleted rear seats, a hardwired K40 radar detector, and a Dension Gateway 5005BT Bluetooth module connected to the factory PCM unit. The seller reports scuffs on both door sill guards, a minor scrape on the headliner, cut carpeting from the installation of the roll cage, some paint missing from the roll cage, and a small tear on the back of the driver’s seat. The seller also mentions the wiring to the steering wheel will need to be resoldered, an error is present on the PCM due to the Dension Bluetooth unit, there is no reading from two of the TPMS sensors, and a bulb-out warning was triggered from the installation of LED taillights. The original seats, parking brake, and gauge faces are said to accompany the sale.

The 997 Turbo is equipped with a 3.6L twin-turbocharged flat-six rated at 480 HP and 460 lb.-ft of torque stock. All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission with an upgraded Sachs Stage 2.5 clutch, a GT2-style BBi slave cylinder, and Cantrell Motorsports urethane mounts. The engine has been modified with a Cobb Accessport V3 tuner with a Stage 2 custom tune by Boost Logic, a Fabspeed carbon fiber cold air intake, Rennline tuneable motor mounts, and catless straight pipes with resonators. The suspension includes a set of Bilstein PSS10 adjustable coilovers, 25mm Eibach sway bars, and MODE monoball upper shock mounts. The seller reports that an intermittent check engine light is present, the PASM no longer functions due to the installation of the Bilstein coilovers, and the aftermarket engine compartment fan installed with the GT3 RS decklid functions correctly but will trigger an error code during hot weather. Maintenance performed during current ownership includes an oil service, a new battery, a flush of the brake system, new inner tie rods, and replacement of the clutch fluid, passenger side turbo to exhaust gasket, new exhaust studs and nuts, and new accessory belts all within the last two years.

This sale will include some factory parts, detailed service records, owner's manuals, and a clean title.

@luis.seneriz this makes sense to me. Like I said each state is different. Some states don't even tax private party transfers. I have the original Texas title with a US Customs export stamp on it and all accompanying documentation so a paper trail should be a non issue.

If the car was previously registered in Texas and you are going to title and register in Texas as long as you prove that it was talking out the country and now you are buying it it’ll be ok. Harris county tax is 6.25 percent, since it’s a private individual you are going to need deed of sale from the owner, you’ll have to have the car inspected and insured prior to.

@Dom33 this is correct. If it helps anyone out, I can title it in my home state and have a new title issued prior to transfer. Thats not an issue.

  • pdouglas (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@Cryde thank you for clarifying. The export thing makes sense and I’ve not had experience with that or bringing a car back into the states. Appreciate it.

@pdouglas i never paid taxes on it. As an export it was exempt from taxes during the sale. However, having owned it for 5 plus years most states have rules in place regarding paying sales tax and length of ownership. Fact remains a buyer may or may not have to pay taxes regardless of whether I did or not. Thats up to the buyer to research in his or her home state. Every state is different

I want to bid but the title thing is confusing to me and possibly others who are holding back too. Did you ever pay taxes on the purchase and registration for the car? I’m afraid when Texas or another state that uses NMVTIS, this may present an issue for me. Can you quickly explain the “maintaining the Texas title” part?.

@skilledm0nkey if I remember correctly the code was P0456 which I assumed was a faulty gas cap. The seal can leak at times and trigger a CEL on startup. Its an easy and cheap fix just one I neglected due to the minor nature of the issue.

  • Cryde (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@jfstamour i always maintained the TX title from the previous owner which is signed over to me on the back with a lien release attached. When I registered it in Germany a US armed forces title and registration was issued. I have this in hand with lien release documentation in hand as backup. I will sign both over to the buyer but I'm not sure which the state will require (likely both to show paper trail). Its my understanding that the military title is the one the buyer will need as the TX title is essentially a dead title. But I have both in hand free and clear just in case.

Cool car, what is the current title situation? (Back to being titled in the US?)

  • Cryde (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@matpatte To my knowledge, cams have not been pinned nor have the coolant lines. There are no signs of leakage from the coolant system. While an engine out service with coolant line pinning would be beneficial, I never got around to it and figured I'd cross that bridge when it came considering the high cost of the job.

The Cobb unit currently has a custom stage 2 tune for 93 octane as well as the factory (stage 0) tune. OTS (off the shelf) tunes can be added but you would likely throw a CEL due to the removal of the cats.

Oil consumption is roughly half a liter every 1000 miles. With my limited usage, I top it up maybe once a year, twice at most.

  • matpatte (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

I may have missed it, few questions.

    Have the camshafts been pinned?

Have the coolant lines been pinned or welded?

    Any oil consumption?

How many tunes are on the Cobb and for what octanes?

Welcome to the last day of the auction! I'm 100% confident in the car selling today, the question is, who will be the lucky new owner?

As we approach the end, I will be available to answer any questions i can. Unfortunately I won't be able to engage between 1230 and 1430 EST, but I should be able to pop in during the last 10 minutes or so. If you have any questions, now is the best time to ask.

@Esprit4me excellent question. The stock seats (front and rear), stock steering wheel and airbag, stock parking brake, stock sway bars, stock exhaust, and perhaps some other odds and ends are included in the sale. Stock suspension, wheels, wing, decklid, and interior bits besides whats listed above were all parted out.

Now here's the thing about the additional parts: they were all shipped with my household goods and are currently on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. They are estimated to arrive in Charlottesville, VA (where I am ultimately settling) in the next few weeks, but I won't have access to them until I move there and get settled in a house.

I will write the buyer a promissory note, notarized, and we will arrange pickup/delivery at a later date (buyers expense). Unfortunately this is how it has to be due to my circumstances of retiring from the military and relocating from Germany. I hope that makes sense. If you have any more questions, please let me know.

  • Esprit4me (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Other than the stock items mentioned that are included in the sale, do you still have the original steering wheel, rims, suspension components , etc & if so, will they be included in the sale? Thank you.

Thanks to everyone that has saved the listing! I'm excited to see what happens as the auction closes out.

A couple updates: I have an appointment to have the car detailed for the new buyer whoever that may be next week.

Regarding the steering wheel controls, I ordered a new hub and button plate to address the issues with the need for resoldering of the connections. It was a good idea in theory, but the coil cord is just too problematic to make it with the hassle. The hub im buying has internal connections for the horn so it can still be removed and reconnected without the need for a cord attached. This will just be for the horn, so I am deleting the flash to pass and turn signals, but I think this is best considering the fragility of the wiring for the high beams and turn signals.

  • Cryde (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@Hollywood400 Thanks for the comment. I'll copy and paste a reply i made to someone else on another platform to address the overrev report:

"I have confidence in this vehicle. Not to open a can of worms or invite anyone for debate, but I've never put too much faith in the accuracy of overrevs, especially in a tuned car. This report was pulled about a week before driving the car to Hamburg for shipping. When I drive the car, its for enjoyment on backroads and I drive it in a spirited manner.

In the 997 Turbo, Range 4 which is indicated about 1 hour before this report was pulled is between 7400 and 7900 RPMs. Thats not possible without missing a shift, which I have never done in this car. I generally shift around 6000 RPMs during spirited driving. Normal driving I shift around 3500 to 4000. Very rarely, I will wind out the gears to 6800 or so. I think I can count on one hand the amount of times in 5 years I've hit the rev limiter.

Ive even tested my theory that overrevs are not accurately captured on a tuned car by driving for a couple hours, never exceeding 6K RPMs and then immediately running an overrev report. It registered range 3 one hour before.

So, take the report for what it is. Like you said, the 997 Turbo is a solid car and even if these figures were accurate which I don't believe they are, there is nothing to worry about. Either way, I assure you, there weren't any overrevs in the last 2 hours as indicated."

Regarding track usage, I took it to the Nürburgring twice. More or less just to say I've done it. After all, you can't live in Germany with a car like this and not drive the infamous Green Hell. I have a video on my YouTube (Rat3d M) from years ago with my son in the passenger seat. This is the first time I drove out there. You can see from my driving style that the car wasn't abused. In fact, I drive it harder on the streets than I did on the track.

I built the car to handle the track, but its not the type of driving I enjoyed. Most of my driving was on the Autobahn cruising long distances with the occasional couple miles at 125mph (i have nearly topped it out a few times of course) and on back roads hugging the turns. The car was hardly a track beast in my 5 and a half years of ownership and to my knowledge it wasn't tracked by the 2 previous owners either.

I hope this addresses your concerns. If you have anymore questions, I'm here to answer them.

  • Hollywood400 1 year, 7 monthsago

Judging from the mods/clues in description I’m going to go out on a limb and say this was a track beast… With that being said…

Would you mind providing any more context on the ignition report? Rev limiter moved up? I see it hit range 4 an hour before the report was pulled and the car seems to have spent a purposeful amount of time in ranges 1-2-3.

    On an unrelated note.

Despite the near money shift I must applaud whoever was driving on hour 921. By my math the car spent less than 0.2 seconds above 9000 rpm, quick left foot saved the motor!

  • Cryde (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@luis.seneriz boost peaks around 21.5psi in sport mode. Nonsport mode it peaks around 18.3 or so. I never had the car dynod but I think 575 to 600bhp is a good conservative estimate. Before I updated the Accessport software there was a feature on the Cobb unit which allowed you to so a few pulls on the streets and it would measure hp. I did it a couple times and it measured around 615. I don't know how accurate this number is, but it gives you a rough idea.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Any idea was the max boost with the tune and what hp is it making? Thanks

  • Cryde (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@DATGTS its been a few years since that video was made, but if memory serves me, it was an M5 with a tune.

  • DATGTS (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

What car is in the video climbing up your rear!!!! The camera car?

  • Cryde (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Welcome to the auction! I'm the proud owner of this 2007 911 Turbo and I've owned it for over 5 years. I'm truly sad to see it go, but am pleased to know its in good hands and will be going to a good owner.

I'm free to answer any and all questions throughout the process. This is truly a one of a kind car and I know the new owner will be just as happy with ownership as I was.

Experiences were made in this car which can never be replaced and could never be bought. I'm going to miss it.
