Marking the second generation of Porsche’s GT3 homologation special, the RS version of the 997 GT3 was produced in limited numbers featuring wider bodywork, more aggressive aerodynamics, additional weight savings, and a more powerful flat-six Mezger engine.  This 2007 example is one of only 413 reported to have been sold in the United States and was acquired by the current owner about two years ago. It comes finished in Black with decorative orange graphics as well as optional black leather seats, the Chrono Package, a crested center console, aluminum footrest, and thickened leather steering wheel.  Accompanied by supporting service records as well as an authentication letter from Porsche, this rare GT3 RS is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey showing approximately 10k miles on the odometer.

This 997 is finished in Black with decorative orange RS graphics and matching painted accents on the mirror housings, wing caps, and wheels.  Clear paint protection film has been applied over the front bumper, hood, mirrors, and forward areas of the doors as well as the bottom portions of the rear quarter panels. The factory 19” GT3 wheels come dressed in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires dated from 2014.  Some road-going wear is noted on the underside of the front bumper and the seller states the car was repaired by Automobile Associates in Canton CT, following an accident that occurred under original ownership. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black leather Sport Seats feature Alcantara inserts and matching upholstery on the shifter and brake handle.  Factory options include a thickened leather steering wheel, aluminum footrest, and center console storage compartment lid with an embossed model logo.  A black-painted roll bar has been fitted in the rear and some wear is noted on the driver’s seat as well as a small chip on the steering wheel airbag trim.

The naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six Mezger engine features dry-sump lubrication, titanium connecting rods, a two-stage resonant induction system, and VarioCam variable valve timing.  As much as 415 HP and 299 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission with an auxiliary oil cooler and locking rear differential.  Other performance features include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), a multi-link LSA rear suspension, vented and cross-drilled brake rotors, variable-ratio power-assisted steering, and traction control with ABD, ASR, and MSR. This example has been fitted with a Sharkwerks central muffler bypass for increased sound and power output.  The car had reportedly seen some track use by the original owner and was maintained accordingly with routine oil and brake fluid changes.  Maintenance completed under the current ownership includes service by Porsche Monmouth in 2021 at approximately 6k miles.

This sale will include a clean title, service records, and a letter of authenticity.

@Jason930 I’d like to see the documents if possible do you have a link by chance?

  • rlsportez (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Hi all - was able to get a copy of the PPI from Ray Catena. Uploaded photo. The fault codes were a result of bad battery which was replaced and fault codes cleared. The clear bra bubbles are very small and hardly noticeable so I never bothered to do anything about it. Same with bell housing leak - drips a drip or two a day when cold - when heats up, no leak at all. Never changed the tires, belts, fuel pump or throw out bearing but all relatively inexpensive and planned to do this summer if car doesn’t sell. Hope this helps!

@Kchase731 yes that what got my interest as I was looking for a driver and a car to take on track time to time. The job was extremely well done and there was clearly no expense spared.

  • Kchase731 (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@Jason930 yeah I get that. Quick google search on the vin outlines the track incident and the repair. But a few things don’t make that much sense. 1. Track day insurance is cheap, and this is a gt3rs so why an owner wouldn’t have that idk. 2. The repair cost is costly. Could just be Porche parts, and kinda “minor” but the search outlines quite a bit of damage. So to me what’s missing here is some context. Like photos, or ppi or something verifying the quality of the repair.

All that said there are not a lot of these and I’m watching with interest as I don’t like garage queens, I like to drive my cars and this is one you could drive

  • Jason930 1 year, 10 monthsago

@Kchase731 from my understanding it was an on track accident with front and rear damage. I don't want to dive it into it too much as this is not my auction, but I will be also watching this closely as I wish I would have bought it in 2019.

  • Kchase731 (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@Jason930 $70k in repairs seems very significant. Especially if it’s not on carfax and was paid out of pocket. Can you maybe provide anymore details about what happended and the repair?

I get that this car has a history and may get a discounted rate for that history, but I’m trying to understand what exactly happened

  • rlsportez (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@WReiter Just added image to photo gallery. DME was done by Ray Catena Porsche in Edison NJ when I purchased the vehicle.

    DME?

  • Jason930 1 year, 10 monthsago

I had nearly bought this car when it was at gaswerks. I believe I still have all documentation on what was replaced and can send it to anyone seriously interested I believe it was over 70k in repair cost. It was very well done

  • Tangerine997 (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

  • Tangerine997 (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@Bruno911 thanks for the information about the crash.
Not sure why you responded to me and not the seller. Are you associated with him since you have knowledge of the car and helping out while he's out of town.

  • Tangerine997 (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

    @rlsportez ok thanks.
I did send you a pm this morning.
    Did you see it?

  • rlsportez (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@tonitone90 I don’t have paint readings but you’re welcome to have them done if you’re serious - as well as any other inspection. I am happy to help arrange. I have nothing to hide here - the car is a ton of fun and if doesn’t sell will continue to put on the miles!

  • rlsportez (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@tonitone90 unfortunately don’t know but honestly, I personally didn’t care much because it looks, runs and drives great and it was a discount vs. other no damage history examples. Will be a more affordable way to drive a legend.

  • URS6 1 year, 10 monthsago

  • tonitone90 (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Also is there documentation of the work done? Engine and gearbox tests to confirm mechanicals in good working order plus paint readings on the none affected portions of the body?

  • tonitone90 (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

If the incidents occurred on track were they slow speed (hence resulting in no chassis damage)?

Like heavy into the braking zone? In a turn and spun into the wall?

  • Bruno911 1 year, 10 monthsago

more info from when the car was for sale at Gaswerks in NJ.
This vehicle did sustain damage in the front end on the track. The front bumper, hood, radiators, oil coolers, front tub and front fenders were replaced to original factory specifications. The chassis is 100% intact. The rear also had light damage, and the bumper cover and muffler were replaced. The work was done to an extremely high standard by renowned restoration specialist Automobile Associates owned by Jim Newton.

  • rlsportez (seller) 1 year, 10 monthsago

@Tangerine997 I am out of town the next two days but can post additional photos and the DME when I return.

  • Bruno911 1 year, 10 monthsago

@Tangerine997 according to the original owner:
"Some insight on the crash, both front fenders were changed, as well as front bumper, hood, and front tub. The repairs are beyond incredible. I can post some photos from the underside of the car. Without knowing about the accident, it is impossible to tell!"
Also in another forum he disclosed the car sustained some damage to the rear. The accident occurred on track and was not reported, which is why it does not appear on Carfax.

  • Tangerine997 (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Can you provide more detail as to the work that was done after the accident?
It says clean carfax and there is nothing mentioned about an accident.
How is that possible. Are there pictures of the under carriage and the wear under the front bumper.
Yes - a DME report is a must, especially since it's been tracked.
    Thanks.

    @renncarguy thanks! Will do

  • renncarguy (registered bidder) 1 year, 10 monthsago

Gorgeous car and nice presentation. In efforts to be your friend here, get a DME up now so that you don't have people asking you in the last 5 min. The car probably won't sell without it.
