Up for auction is this 2007 Porsche 987 Cayman finished in Meteor Grey Metallic over a Sand Beige interior. Featuring an agile mid-engine platform coupled with an engaging 5-speed manual transmission, this Cayman also comes factory optioned with the Preferred Package, 18” Boxster S wheels, and heated front seats. Acquired from its original owner in 2008, this Cayman has been recently serviced by an authorized Porsche dealer and is now being offered for auction by its second owner out of Tennessee with just over 24k miles showing on the odometer.
This 987 is finished in Meteor Grey Metallic and rides on a set of optional 18” Boxster S wheels dressed in new Michelin tires. Wheel caps with colored Porsche crests are also included as part of the Preferred Package (PPA). There has been no reported track use and the car is said to have been garage-kept throughout the current ownership while never driven during the winter. The seller notes a small scuff mark on the right rear bumperette as depicted in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, you will find a Sand Beige standard leather interior with heated seats, self-dimming mirrors, and Sound Package Plus included with the Preferred Package. The seller notes that new tire pressure monitoring sensors (TPMS) have been installed and that the front drainage line has been recently cleaned. All gauges and accessories are reported to be fully functional including the original Porsche CDR24 radio.
This first-generation Cayman is equipped with a mid-mounted 2.7L flat-six engine featuring integrated dry-sump lubrication, VarioCam Plus variable valve timing, a two-stage resonant induction system, and an output of up to 245 HP and 201 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transmission, allowing for a 0-60 time of approximately 5.5 seconds and a top speed north of 160 MPH. Standard performance features include Porsche Stability Management (PSM), Active Brake Differential (ABD), and 4-piston brake calipers paired with vented rotors front and rear. This 2007 example was just recently serviced at Porsche of Nashville including an oil change and new cabin and engine air filters.
This sale will include the original window sticker and a clean title. Sparingly driven under the care of its long-term owner, this low-mileage 5-speed Cayman is just waiting for a new driver to get behind the wheel and enjoy.

@tomerific I sent the pictures of the front skirt yesterday to the "team" at pcarmarket, but they still do not appear to be on the page. I have contacted them again this morning, sorry for the delay.
@Arne knew better than to word the statement about the model years 2000-2005. The statement is applicable to the Boxster and 911. You are correct, that the first model year for the Cayman was 2006.
@Arne I hope you can find what your looking for, thanks for the comments.
This car is exactly what I'm looking for, except...
I can't live with Sand Beige interior. If it was Stone Gray or black I'd already be bidding.
Nice car, someone (who is OK with Sand Beige) will be very happy.
Cayman wasn't released until 2006, so really, no Cayman is at serious IMS risk...
@Bilinski4447 As you probably know , the 2000-2005 Cayman models were at the greatest risk. Late in 2005 they went to a larger more robust gear which was used until 2009.To quote,"the chances of IMS failure in Caymans produced after late 2005 are very slim". So no IMS bearing work has been performed.
@FrankZ78 No that carafax does not show service at the Huntsville porsche dealership which included oil/filter change and flushing and refilling brake lines (maintainance, not repair). and only alludes to service prior to my buying it. And that is just off the top of my head.
@tomerific I have sent those pictures to car to be added to the site
Is the carfax correct that there has been no maintenance on this car except 1 oil change at 22k with exception of your most recent maintenance noted?
Has the IMS bearing work been done on this car or is it new enough to not have the issue? I think 2007 was the transition year for the IMS bearing issues.
@tomerific I have both keys. I will take pictures of front skirt this morning.
And can you indicate if you have both keys?
Thank you for posting the video. Can you please add a couple of additional pictures of the front skirt?
A new video has been added to the listing page.
@PCguy very sorry. I just got back from my shop and am scratching my head as to how to get this video on the site. I air dropped it to my computer then did a drag and drop. I tried the comment area first then the area of the photos. No luck. As you can see, I am not a "PCguy". I will call them in the morning for instructions. But it is 1200 midnight here and this guy is going to wrestle with the rack monster!
@flyerDoc7 Hey! You have accidently posted the text of the link for the video. Could you please post the video? Thank you.

/Users/robertmarkbell/Downloads/IMG_5158.MOV I realized the heater fan was running part way through and shut it off.
Date of last service 27Aug2021
My office sustained tornado damage this week and I just got home from same (the Porsche was at home in the garage). I will try to do the cold start-extended version tonight.
Synopsis of latest service at Porsche of Nashville:
Replaced 4 tires and 4 TPMS sensors
Replaced cabin air filter and cleaned the vent tubes
PMPI Multipoint inspection
All fluids checked and topped
Oil and filter change
No interval maintenance due now
Total price $3,335.07
Bid in the amount of $13,500
@tomerific I will do a longer video tomorrow. I have the metal box with all the documentation that came with the car new and I have the owner's manual. I have owned the car 13.5 years and it has never been smoked in during my ownership. There was no smell or indication that the first owner ever allowed smoking either. I am admittedly negligent with keeping paperwork, but I do think I have the last Porsche service when I got new tires and new TPMS. They also did full service with oil and filter change and cabin air filter change about 2 months ago.
@FrankZ78 Brand new
Can you please post a longer video of a cold start? The one that is posted ends after 9 seconds; which is a shame. It would be great to hear how the engine adjusts after a cold start.
Also, can indicate if you have any service records and if you had a PPI completed as part of the most recent service? Can you post any records that you may have?
Lastly, can you indicate if anyone has smoked in the car? And do you have any original documentation besides the window sticker?
How old are the tires?
@rustynail58 AC works well. I live in TN where it is hot and humid. I remember when I was at Shepherd AFB. The coolest day I was there was 108 and the warmest was 114.That was a long time ago, but it gives me a feel for Texas hot. Seriously, I know of no problems with the AC.
One more question.... Does the ac blow good and cold?
I live in Texas and gotta have great ac!
Thanks again for yojr time!
Thanks for the response.
I recently sold a car that I had for 43 years.... I know how hard it is to pass them on to a new owner!
@rustynail58 No leaks whatsoever. No missed shifts to my recollection. Never over reved. I am 72 years old and have driven sports cars since I was in college. I take care of a fine piece of equipment like this. I live in a rural area with great roads. I don't drive the car like an old lady, but I never beat it. Thanks for asking.
Bid in the amount of $12,000
Great looking Cayman!
Notice any seepage,or leaks?
Looks like you've really taken great care of her.
Has she been driven very hard, over revs, missed gears?
Thanks for your time
@rlmr3m0t3adm1n Thank you!
beautiful baby...hope she finds a wonderful home.
Welcome to my auction. I have owned this wonderful car for over 13 years. I have a strong attachment to her still. It was difficult for me to decide to sell my porsche as it was a lifelong dream come true. I have owned numerous sports cars, but they all pale when compared to this one. The handling is nothing short of spectacular and the transmission shifts like an oiled billiard ball. I hope to sell her to someone who will appreciate her many extraordinary qualities. I will monitor for questions at least twice a day. Good luck!
