This 2008 Porsche 987 Cayman comes finished in Black over Sand Beige upholstery and pairs a 6-speed manual transmission to its flat-six engine. It was generously optioned with heated front seats, automatic climate control, the Bose High-End Sound Package, the Preferred Package Plus, Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, and more. Showing approximately 47k miles on the odometer, this meticulously maintained Cayman is now being offered for auction by its seller out of South Carolina.

This 987 comes finished in Black and features distinctive side air intakes, integrated front fog lights, a central exhaust outlet, an automatically deploying rear spoiler, and factory 17” Cayman wheels with optional colored Porsche center crests. It rides on Pirelli P Zero tires from 2014 and 2017. The Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package was also opted for. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The driver is situated within a Sand Beige standard leather interior featuring adjustable leather-trimmed seats along with a matching three-spoke steering wheel, shifter, and brake handle. Optional equipment includes heated front seats, automatic climate control, self-dimming mirrors with rain sensors, the Preferred Package Plus, and the Bose High-End Sound Package. WeatherTech floor mats have been fitted and the seller states all gauges and accessories are working properly. The air pressure warning light reads that two tires are 4 lbs. low.

The naturally aspirated 2.7-liter flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and produces up to 245 HP and 201 lb.-ft of torque.  Stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes paired with ventilated discs at each corner. The seller adds that notable service items include replacements of the water pump, thermostat, belt pulley, and tensioner control, along with a fluid flush. The CARFAX report shows 3 service history entries.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, and a toolkit.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this car for over 5 years, and it is stored in a garage. All maintenance is up to date. Looks great, runs great. Love the car. See the pictures and it runs and sounds like a Porsche!”

@ssuess007 Is it possible to wipe down the window trim with a cloth and let me know if the trim is all dark black or faded to a lighter color? In photo #33 there are some clear areas of dark black trim and then faded looking light black trim. That is what I mean by degraded, the finish is very uneven.

@pcarmarket You need to change the listing information to reflect this car has the standard 5-sp transmission, not the optional 6-sp.

This Cayman has a 5- speed manual transmission.
    No degrading of window trim
Rain on that morning of the pictures.

Is this car really optioned with the six-speed transmission? It is difficult to tell from the photos. That was a pretty rare option on the base Cayman 2.7, most had the standard Volkswagen 5-speed.

In photo #33, showing the passenger side windows, the surrounding window trim appears to be degrading. Is that accurate or is it just dirt showing? Difficult to tell, as the car doesn't appear to have been washed before photos.

    @Ryanjthorp Hi Ryan
The headliner is in place. I have seen some drooping on other cars. This is firm and in place, never a problem.
There has never been a water or mold problem in the car There is some minor ware on the dashboard. No grease marks or stains. The carpet is the original and clean. Keep in the garage for 7 years.
Let me know if I can be of any additional help

    Regards
    Steve

    1. Please include pictures of the headliner.

    2. There appear to be black spots on the tan visor covering the rev counter. Are those mold?

    3. Please clarify when last oil was changed.

    Hi
The IMS bearing issue was in previous models, 2006. Less than 1% of engines were affected.
This Porsche has run fantastic with no issues whatsoever of any engine or transmission problems. I have had the water pump replaced.
No other issues have been in need of repair.
Upon my arrival of the car I had the oil checked for any bore score. No issues were found in the oil analysis.

Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions.
    Thank you for your interest.

  • Habanero3 (registered bidder) 9 monthsago

Has the IMS bearing issue been addressed in any prior service of the Cayman? I could not tell from the CarFax or the one service record. Are there more service records other than the one and the oil report from 2019? Are there any known items which need to be repaired?
