This 2007 Porsche 987 Cayman S is finished in the rare Paint to Sample color of Prosecco Metallic over a Cocoa Special Leather interior and features optional heated leather Sport Seats, Porsche-crested headrests, metal door sill guards, the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, and a 6-speed manual transmission. It was modified under prior ownership with Cayman R spoilers, a powder-coated GMG roll bar, a Tubi exhaust system, Champion lowering springs, Tarett adjustable anti-roll bars, and GT3 brake ducts. Also benefitting from a rebuilt engine with upgraded internals, this Cayman S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York with approximately 78k miles showing on the odometer.

This Cayman S was ordered in Prosecco Metallic, an optional Paint to Sample color derived from the first-generation Cayenne. Bi-xenon headlamps came equipped from the factory and the optional rear window wiper has been removed. The car was modified with a matching Cayman R front and rear spoiler under prior ownership and features yellow headlight covers, tinted taillights, and aftermarket LED daytime running lights. It rides on a set of 19” Carrera S wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot PS4 tires from 2019. The seller notes the front bumper was recently refinished along with the replacing front-end paint protection film. Some track use was reported under prior ownership and minor cosmetic imperfections are depicted in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin features Cocoa Special Leather upholstery including optional heated leather Sport Seats with Porsche-crested headrests. Other factory equipment includes metal door sill guards with model insignias, air conditioning, power windows, remote locking doors, cruise control, and Sound Package Plus. A custom powder-coated GMG roll bar has been installed along with an aftermarket head unit including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Some signs of wear are shown on the seating surfaces and the seller reports all accessories and electronics are working properly.

Factory-rated at 295 HP and 251 lb.-ft of torque, the 3.4-liter flat-six engine in this Cayman S was preventatively rebuilt in 2012 by Vision Motorsports of Irvine, California, at 42,795 miles. The build included upgraded Carrillo connecting rods and bolts, crankshaft oiling modifications, GT3 rod bearings, a five-angle valve job, valve seat and flow modifications, an underdrive pulley, a Porsche Motorsport VOS, a new water pump, belts, and hoses. The engine also features an upgraded Tubi exhaust and a TTP oil-saver kit. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission with a Numeric short shifter. The suspension includes Champion lowering springs, Bilstein shocks, and Tarett adjustable anti-roll bars at the front and rear. The brakes have also been upgraded with GT3 rear cooling ducts. The seller reports an oil service was recently completed and the window regulators were replaced under their ownership.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, the original radio, servicer records, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a truly special car. It is Paint to Sample Prosecco with a Cocoa interior. Turns heads everywhere it goes. It is an absolute BLAST to drive. It was loved and well cared for by me and prior owners. I have a binder of receipts including the original window sticker that comes with the car.”

@Van_Slyke Thanks. I'm familiar with the R and the R Aero. As this was not ordered with it, what I was not familiar with was how much drilling was involved to install it. IE: What would be involved with putting it back to "as shipped" config.

@LateApex this appears to be the factory Aerokit which includes the larger left and right front splitters and the rear wing. These are OEM Porsche parts that couple be added afterward or ordered from the factory (code XAM) during the build process. This kit was standard on the rare 2012 Cayman R that currently has a massive premium if you can find one for sale ($70K+). Porsche no longer offers the full kit - only the front splitters for $600+

@LateApex Hi, in the front I believe the splitters mount from underneath so I don't think there would be any visible holes if one decided to remove them

For the rear, I am really not sure . It is on solidly I would assume that there are bolts holding it in.

  • LateApex (registered bidder) 3 days, 21 hoursago

Hello, Were holes drilled front and rear to install the "R" aero? Thanks,

Hi, added pictures of the headliner - please note pictures were taken in dark garage so headliner looks a little bit lighter than it is.

Also added picture of the section of door in question. No rust. It is very shiny and it is difficult to take a picture without the reflection making it look like something is going on but I am hoping you can see from the picture the area is clean.

Also took a picture of the most recent NY inspection sticker.

@PetarVNik Hi, re: cats picture 123 shows the cats that are just behind the headers. Zero problems passing NY emissions test. I can take a picture of the inspection sticker when I get home.

Re picture 59: I believe that is a reflection of the pavement but will take another shot of that area when I get home.

Re Headliner: it was replaced on 2/11/2023. I will take a picture when I get home.

Re oil consumption: No oil consumption between oil changes. I have never added any oil and never seen a low reading.

Re fantastic spec: thank you! It truly is a special car. Good luck with bidding ☺️

  • ProseccoCayman (seller) 4 days, 18 hoursago

@Herrgelb First and foremost, I sincerely want to answer any and all questions you have about the car. (Who doesn't like talking about cars, right??)

If you need a little flexibility in pickup of the car, I can be flexible within reason.

The second set of wheels that I am including with the sale of the car are the wheels that the car came with the car.

When I bought the car I sourced a set of lobster claws that were a factory option because I love the look. I had them refinishes and put a set of Michelin ps4s on (I am kind of a tire snob 😉).

I felt that the original wheels should stay with the car which is why I am including them with the sale.

I guess if you really don't want them you can sell them privately??

  • PetarVNik (registered bidder) 4 days, 18 hoursago

Hi! Apologies, one more quick question - does the car consume any oil between oil changes? Does it ever need any topping off? Coming from BMW M-cars (Currently have a V10 Manual E60 M5, and have had E46 M3, E92 M3...) I'm familiar with oil consumption, but thought I'd ask! :) Thank you!

  • PetarVNik (registered bidder) 4 days, 19 hoursago

Hello! Before I place a bid, just a couple of quick questions - I see the car has a Tubi exhaust fitted, but there is no note regarding whether the catalytic converters are currently installed. Can you clarify if the system has cats?

Additionally, it may be a trick of the light/pavement reflecting from under the door, but in photo 59 in your gallery, is that corrosion at the bottom of the door (under the VIN sticker?) or just reflections and a little dirt? If you could provide a close-up, that would be great, but not a deal-breaker.

Last question, can you add a photo showing the headliner in the cabin? I'm just curious about the condition since the car spent a lot of time in hot climates.

Thanks so much! Truly, fantastic spec on the car would love to add it to my garage :)

  • Herrgelb (registered bidder) 4 days, 21 hoursago

@Herrgelb Should have saved my comment when I had more questions. How long does the buyer have to pick up the car? 1 week? A couple weeks? What if buyer does not need the extra wheels?

  • Herrgelb (registered bidder) 4 days, 21 hoursago

    Appreciate it!

  • ProseccoCayman (seller) 4 days, 22 hoursago

@Herrgelb Hi Herrgelb, if I remember correctly the Blackstone report was done by the owner I purchased it from. I would have to check the date of the report when I get home this evening.

Can't speak for why he ran it but he showed it to me enthusiastically.

He was a very nice guy, we have had a few points of contact since I have bought the car all of which were very positive.

I don't remember specifically why he was selling the car but he had a lot going on. He had a project can in his garage that he was working on and I know he has bought and sold a few other cars since this one.

He really enjoyed the car as well. He is the one who made the custom covers over the engine cover and I believe he was the one who put the yellow tint on the headlights.

IMHO both added to the overall look of the car.

  • Herrgelb (registered bidder) 4 days, 22 hoursago

Looks like the person you bought it from got a clean black stone result from owner 3. Did you get an idea of why owner 4 was selling? Did you get any black stone test upon purchase or afterwards?

@garyjlittle Engine work was done by a prior owner. To my knowledge and what was explained is that the focus of the rebuild was to make the engine more robust and add oil pickups to avoid oil starvation upon cornering which I believe these engines are susceptible to in stock form. I was told that vision did some little things to get more power out of the engine. I am assuming that most of this is in the head work and under drive pulleys. This is all consistent with the receipts from vision. The engine definitely feels strong. Car is very fun to drive!!

The pads under the roll bar are purely cosmetic. They are just sitting there. The roll bar does a great job of holding them in place. Stock engine cover is below it. I will remove them when I get home and take a few more pictures.

  • garyjlittle (registered bidder) 5 days, 23 hoursago

Interesting Cayman. It looks like the work done at Vision was just correction/prevention - and the engine was not bored out at all. Can you confirm that's the case? Also is the standard engine cover in place - not sure what is going on under the roll-cage where the engine cover would normally be. Thanks.

  • ProseccoCayman (seller) 6 days, 4 hoursago

@Herrgelb I do not have any timing chain/camshaft dev readings

  • ProseccoCayman (seller) 6 days, 5 hoursago

@Herrgelb Hi Herrgelb, That is really odd, I cannot imagine them doing that much work and then putting an old clutch in. That said, there is no charge for a new clutch on the invoice and I seriously doubt they would have thrown one in for free.

Regardless, driving the car for 3 years I have never had any reason to question the clutch. It has a very solid feel to it, grabs in the right place, and has a nice engagement. I have never experienced any type of slippage. No problems starting on a hill.

Full disclosure, I am not really one for aggressive starts from a standstill and have never done a burn out with the car so have not put the clutch through what many would consider a "stress test". But again, I have never had any reason to question it either.

  • ProseccoCayman (seller) 6 days, 5 hoursago

    @Sylverlee Hi Sylverlee,

When I purchased the car the previous owner had the roll bar out of the car. He had not been driving with it in and was planning on selling it separately. I felt strongly that it should stay with the car and honestly think it is a very cool look. Especially since it has been powder coated to match the interion. I had the roll bar put back in on 6/12/21.

Since this time it has had regular service plus a power steering hose replacement and the roll bar has not been removed.

In the event the roll bar does need to be removed for access to the top end of the motor, you can see in the pictures I just uploaded the center section of the roll bar can be lifter out. There are two allen bolts on each point of attachment.

@LateApex Hi, not sure how much track time since the rebuild.

I have had the car for over 3 years and have not had it on the track.

I do have receipts for the engine work.

I have never driven the car in the snow. Actually, I really didn't drive the car in rain but have been caught out a few times.

Summer tires aren't really good in temps below 50 degrees. The winter tires would allow me to use the car year round so long as roads were clear.

This has always been a 3rd car (4th now that my daughter is driving) so no reason to drive it in bad weather.

  • LateApex (registered bidder) 6 days, 15 hoursago

How much track time after the engine rebuild? Do you have receipts for the rebuild? How much was it driven in the snow?

  • ProseccoCayman (seller) 6 days, 15 hoursago

@Peteweiss Looked through receipts for car.
-Washer fluid leak was fixed on 2/25/2021
-Rear power steering hose was replaced to fix leak on 2/4/2023

No oil leaks. Only two leaks I experienced since I have had the care are listed above and both were fixed.

Also, forgot to mention above, new headliner was installed on 2/11/2023

@Peteweiss I am not sure about links for camber. the suspension modifications were done by a previous owner.

  • ProseccoCayman (seller) 6 days, 23 hoursago

@Peteweiss Alignment is set up for aggressive street. It was done at a local independent Porsche shop that does a lot of work on race and track cars.

I am pretty sure I have the specs and can post them up when I get home.

  • ProseccoCayman (seller) 6 days, 23 hoursago

Added to the pictures is a set of factory 18" Cayman S wheels with winter tires that will be included with the sale of the car.

Also added pictures of stock radio which will be included with sale of car. As you can see android auto head unit was put in with a factory compatible connector (solder and heat shrink -no crimp conectors) so no wiring needed to go back to stock radio.

Also included with sale of car is factory rear windshield wiper which was removed by prior owner and replaced with a plug painted body color.

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 6 days, 23 hoursago

    Thanks for the answers!

How is the allignment set up? Are there also links in place for increased camber along with the other modifications?

  • ProseccoCayman (seller) 6 days, 23 hoursago

@Viper999 Cold start video is posted. This is first start after the car has been sitting for 2 days.

Care has been taken to address whatever the car needed when it is needed. It runs flawlessly.

Care has also been taken to keep RPMs below 3k until engine is up to temperature

No oil leaks. No other fluid leaks

  • ProseccoCayman (seller) 1 weekago

@Peteweiss Thanks!! Absolutely fell in love with this unique combination. Going to really miss it.

I don't have any HP numbers from vision and don't want to guess.

For comparison a good friend has a 911 C4S same year. Seat of the pants, this car feels just as fast (maybe a touch faster) in a straight line but handles much better.

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 1 weekago

    Beautiful car!

Any HP estimate from Vision from rebuild?
    Any oil leaks?

Hi, Thank you for interest in my auction.

I do not have a DME report on this car.

During my ownership (over 3 years) care was taken to shift at least 3-400 rpm under the rev limiter with no mechanical over-revs. There are no signs or symptoms of over-rev abuse from prior owners.

One element of what makes this such a fun car to drive is that it is very easy to rev-match (heel-toe). This has the benefit of being gentle on driveline components.

I will take post up a cold start video within the next day or two.

  • Viper999 (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

Also, are you able to take a video of a cold start?

  • Viper999 (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago
