Now up for auction is this 2007 Porsche 987 Cayman S finished in Midnight Blue Metallic over a Stone Grey interior. This first-generation Cayman S was sold new in Texas before it was acquired by its second owner and moved to California in 2016. At an original sticker price of over $67k, it came generously optioned with a 6-speed manual transmission, 19” SportDesign wheels, the Bose High-End Sound Package, Bi-Xenon headlights, heated seats, and more. With all scheduled service addressed including recent replacements of the water pump, clutch, and flywheel, this Cayman S shows just over 64k miles on the odometer and is now being offered for auction by its seller out Oregon.
This 987 is finished in Midnight Blue Metallic and features removable Porsche side graphics as well as custom silver painted mirror caps and side air vents. The car is said to have been garage-kept throughout its life and the seller reports that the right rear quarter panel was previously refinished to address a minor ding. Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a corresponding repair invoice and a clean CARFAX report. This Cayman S rides on optional 19” SportDesign wheels which are currently dressed in Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2 tires dated from 2017.
Inside, you will find a Stone Grey standard leather interior with heated front seats, automatic climate control, self-dimming mirrors with an integrated rain sensor, and the Bose High-End Sound Package. The optional Preferred Package Plus (PPB) also adds power-operated seats along with the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package. The seller notes that this is a non-smoker car with very minimal signs of wear. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.
For the 2007 model year, the Cayman S received a larger 3.4L flat-six engine with VarioCam Plus technology, resulting in an output of up to 295 HP and 251 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission. Routine maintenance is said to have been kept up to date and the seller reports that all service records are available dating back to the original purchase. Noteworthy items carried out within the last 5k miles include a full 60k-mile service with new spark plugs, a new clutch, flywheel, and most recently a water pump replacement at 64,160 miles.
This sale will include a collection of service records, the original window sticker, a car cover, a set of two keys, and a clean title (in transit). Nicely configured and well maintained, this 6-speed Cayman S is not to be overlooked.

Congrats @jaro89. It took awhile, but I see you reached a deal. Can't say I like the way PCar posts its results sometimes, but at least they let the world know when a RNM auction eventually reaches a deal, and for how much. Enjoy your CS. Looks like a beauty!

Probably. Some post-auction negotiations going on between high bidder and seller, I'd guess. They just handle things a little differently than BaT, don't they? Not that there's anything wrong with that approach, but it just adds to the uncertainty at the end.
@wadds1971 Pretty sure it didn’t meet reserve and that’s why it’s taking so long…
Just curious why it takes PCar so long to determine if the car has sold or not. BTW, this was a tough one. Beautiful car overall, mileage a tad higher than I would hope for, but relatively close in distance, too. Almost.... And yes, I'd keep the stripes! Goes with the color, the wheels, and the rearview mirrors.
If there was no reserve, someone got a very good deal. Beautiful car. I would take the decals off, just my taste.....

@build2022 Thanks, I figured as much, so you are the second owner then? Appreciate the response on the knobs as well.
@slaugherty I was trying to consign in with them but decided to enjoy it for a few more months, i do have the title in hand. As far as buttons go, I have not repaired them or replaced them.. but possibly the previous owner did. All the center buttons look barley used.
@Build2022 So did you buy the car from Grand Prix Motors this summer? If so, why the sale? The title is "in transit" so I assumed you had bought it and haven't gotten the title yet? The control knobs on the center console look to be free of the "stickiness" that appears on a lot of them, were these repaired?

@jaro89 just emailed undercarriage photos this morning, hoping PCAR uploads them soon.
@build2022 I fully understand that. For me, somehow, a Private Sale seems, well, more believable. That is why I ask. I'm seeking a new-to-me, Daily Driver. I'll l be watching this auction closely, thank you, AP
@Arkus1 I am a private seller. You do the bidding here.
Is this a Private sale or dealership? If dealership, which one please, Porsche or otherwise. Thank you, AP
@Arkus1 it depends on the driver however usually by 60-70k miles even at normal operations clutch will worn, and a new clutch now means you don't have to worry about replacement for another 60,000 miles.
I'm NEW to P-Cars, that said, in all my life, why clutches and flywheels and..... need to be replace at such low mileage intervals??? Yes, I am a real buyer, seeking a Cayman of this vintage for a new-to-me daily-driver. Please/Thank you, AP
@patco2927 Clutch/Flywheel/Release Bearing replaced at 60,195 the mechanic did not recommend anything else since the incidents of IMS failures in 2006-2008 Porsche Cayman models is very low. Remember, the intermediate shaft is submerged in normal operation. Which provides more than enough oil to cool and lubricate the IMS bearing.
Car has had extreme care and every receipt and service documented since day 1.
@jaro89 I do have a picture of the undercarriage from floor level, clean and dry. I can put it on a lift on Monday and upload a more clear pictures.
Do you have any pictures of undercarriage?
Had an 07 brand new. Great car. Was IMS addressed when clutch replaced?
