We are pleased to offer this 2007 Porsche 987 Cayman S finished in Midnight Blue Metallic over a Sea Blue interior.  Based upon the mid-engine platform of the 987 Boxster, the Cayman model debuted at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show and received high acclaim for its agile handling and driver-focused characteristics.  This 2007 Cayman S features a 3.4L flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, and came factory optioned with the Preferred Package Plus, a gear/handbrake lever in aluminum-look, Exclusive chrome exhaust pipe, and Porsche crested headrests.  Originally sold in Kansas, this 987 has been cared for by four previous owners and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Tennessee while showing just over 37k miles on the odometer.

This 987 comes finished in Midnight Blue Metallic and features a factory Exclusive chrome exhaust pipe.  The seller notes a couple of very small dings throughout the body and a few paint chips on the front bumper as well as mounting holes left over from a license plate.  Following the front-end damage shown on CARFAX in 2008, the front bumper and hood are said to have been professionally refinished and there was reportedly no structural damage sustained.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery.  This 987 rides on factory 18" Cayman S wheels with optional colored Porsche center crests and Bridgestone tires dated from 2016.

Inside, you will find an attractive Sea Blue standard leather interior with Exclusive Porsche crested headrests and optional aluminum-look shifter/handbrake levers.  The Preferred Package Plus also includes self-dimming mirrors with an integrated rain sensor, the Bose High-End Sound Package, heated power-operated front seats, the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, and a remote 6-disc CD changer.  Some minor signs of wear are noted on the driver seat bolsters and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional including the climate control and radio displays.

This first-generation Cayman S is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six engine featuring cylinder heads derived from the 997 Carrera S model which incorporate Porsche’s VarioCam Plus system.  This mid-mounted engine sends as much as 295 HP and 251 ft-lb of torque to the rear wheels through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission.  CARFAX shows routine maintenance to have been carried out by Aristocrat Motor Co. of Shawnee, Kansas for much of the vehicle’s life with the most recent documented service completed in May of 2021 at 36,534 miles.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals, leather pouch, and a clean title.  Sporting a tasteful and unique color combination along with other desirable factory options, this 6-speed 2007 example just might be the Cayman S you have been searching for.

@Thepillone 2005.5 -2008 the IMS bearing is the more robust version and cannot be replaced unless you rebuild the entire engine…
They do or can go bad but it’s rare

  • Miles.S (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Thepillone This engine has the larger IMS bearing that is not an issue

  • Miles.S (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Thepillone Airbag was definitely replaced. These cars will light up like a Christmas tree with an airbag missing. There are zero airbag fault codes. Thanks!

  • Thepillone (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Is there any documentation to validate that the airbag was actually replaced? Does this model have any IMS problems and if so any records of replacing. Thanks.

@Miles.S Thank you. I just missed it in your disclosure info. I have family in Knoxville, so I hope I am fortunate to earn the Cayman and see them as well.

    Ok thx for the update.

  • Miles.S (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@supersmashedbro unfortunately no photos of the accident. Wish I did! I submitted a few photos from behind the carpet that show no damage

  • Miles.S (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Tonyh280- definitely no cylinder ticking/tapping. No smoke either

  • supersmashedbro (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Any pictures of the accident that's recorded on the CarFax?

  • Tonyh280- (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    I'm a Porsche technician for over 40yrs
And I work on many Boxster/caymans. Iam aware of the Boxster and Cayman S 3.4 motors have cylinder bore issues. It starts with what sounds Like a valve tap type sound. Does the engine have any ticking sounds you are aware of?

  • doolin64 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@Miles.S thank you! This a beautiful car, just a generalized comment from what I've been seeing. It seems those front eng chips and the interior center console scratches are always crazy.

@miles.s please add a walk around video and show all interior items working, ie seats moving, seat heater works. Also a driving video going through all the gears.

  • Miles.S (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@doolin64 the front end of any 911, boxster/cayman is very susceptible to rock chips. Very common on these cars

  • doolin64 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Could someone enlighten me. I'm new to the Porsche world...or I should say new to being in the position to purchasing my first Porsche. I love these first gen Cayman's but I'm always amazed at the amount of rock chips in these cars for such low mileage. Are Porsche's notorious for paint that chips easy? I can see why so many people add PPF.

@Tonyh280- Unfortunately, I do not have physical records of factory service history. Only service history is that which is listed on the Carfax. Thanks! -Miles

Please send me the factory service history from the porsche dealer I would like to see them

It’s hard to capture just how beautiful Midnight Blue Metallic is in pictures. It looks almost black from some angles, and a vibrant metallic blue from other angles. GLWTA

Beautiful color combination. Midnight Blue Metallic with Sea blue leather interior not often seen. Wish I had that in my Cayman S recently purchased from Miles.S.
