Up for auction is this 2007 Porsche 987 Cayman S finished in Speed Yellow over a black standard leather interior. The Cayman made its debut in 2005 featuring an agile mid-engine platform derived from the Boxster coupled with a sleek new fastback design. This 2007 Cayman S offers a 3.4L flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, and came factory optioned with the Sport Chrono Package, Bose High-End Sound Package, a 3-spoke Sport steering wheel, and Exclusive Speed Yellow trim. Acquired from its original owner in April of 2021, this Cayman S has recently undergone a full service and is now being offered for auction by its second owner out of Illinois with just over 51k miles showing on the odometer.

This Cayman S was ordered in the eye-catching shade of Speed Yellow.  Xpel clear paint protection film was applied over the front end and rear quarter flares in May of 2021 and is covered under a 10-year warranty.  The only noted imperfection is a small rub mark on the lower front bumper ahead of the driver-side wheel.  Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This 987 rides on factory optioned 18” Boxster S wheels with colored Porsche center crests and Michelin Pilot Sport tires dated from 2020.

Inside, you will find a black standard leather interior with options from Porsche’s Exclusive Department including seatbelts in Speed Yellow, instrument dials in Speed Yellow, and a painted rear center console. Other factory options include the Sport Chrono Package, Bose High-End Sound Package, the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, heated front seats, and a 3-spoke Sport steering wheel.  Some sticky radio buttons are noted, and the seller confirms all accessories and instrumentation to be working properly.

This Cayman S is equipped with a 3.4L flat-six engine producing an output of up to 295 HP and 251 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission.  The car was regularly serviced at Napleton Westmont Porsche under the original ownership, and a full 10k-mile service was carried out upon the current owner’s purchase in April of 2021 including all new fluids, filters, and belts.  New front brake pads and rotors were also recently installed along with a four-wheel alignment.

This sale will include a set of two keys, some service records, the original window sticker, owner's manuals, and a clean title. Nicely appointed and well maintained, this 6-speed Cayman S is not to be overlooked.

The only code I had was a P0421 “ Warm up catalyst below threshold” I replaced a O2 sensor and it’s been good

  • tomerific (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@buttercup can you share the over revs data from the ECU? Any other codes present?

  • buttercup (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

There are no oil leaks and little use ( about 1/2 quart in 2500 miles)no oil smoke on startup. No clutch work has been done and everything works on the car

  • jmitro (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

beautiful car; I have an identical speed yellow 07 Cayman S. GLWA

  • jmitro (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

@BrokerWarren IMS is integral to the engine and is not replaceable on the M97 engine without splitting case halves

  • BrokerWarren (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Your well done presentation makes no mention of some maintenance items. Has the clutch been replaced and the IMS Bearing upgraded? Also, are there any engine oil leaks? Outside of some sticky radio buttons, everything works. Is that correct?

@buttercup ahh yes, I also sold my Elise for the Cayman S. The Lotus brakes and corners better but the Cayman S is way faster… I’m am however really thinking of the new Lotus

@mineralfarmer For ordering purposes on the sticker, they start with the "base" of the model, which is an S. So it means "Base S" then add options.

  • buttercup (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    Videos are now up

  • mineralfarmer (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Although I see on the window sticker it is clearly an S...LOL..

  • mineralfarmer (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Why does the build sheet show this as a base model rather than an s?

  • Airliner1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

Wow, a Speed Yellow beauty! Who doesn't love the sexy, flowing curves of a 987 Cayman? And what a driver's car these first-gen Cayman S's are. Sport Chrono and a 6-speed manual make this an especially nice one! Looks to be in terrific condition. GLWTA!

@buttercup Please post walk around videos, including showing electronics in working order, plus a startup and driving video.

I sold my Lotus Exige and thought Porsche was the direction I wanted to go but even after a fun summer of driving it I really miss having a Lotus.

  • bonus 2 years, 7 monthsago

@buttercup - from the Carfax it looks like the car was purchased a few months ago. Any reason that you're selling so soon?

  • buttercup (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago
