Now available for auction is this 2008 BMW E64 M6 Convertible finished in Alpine White III over a Merino full leather interior. BMW’s flagship grand touring car of the time, the M6 came equipped with a 500 HP S85 V10 engine, and this particular example also features a desirable 6-speed manual transmission.  The 6-speed option for the E64 M6 was offered exclusively in North America and with only 701 examples built in total, of which 378 were offered as convertibles.  Well-optioned and recently serviced, this rare 6-speed E64 M6 convertible is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Minnesota with approximately 88k miles showing on the odometer.

This M6 is finished in Alpine White III with a black convertible soft top. The paint is described as being original while exhibiting only a few minor touch-ups and imperfections, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  The M6 can be differentiated from a standard 6-series by its unique aerodynamic features, M6 fender badges, and quad exhaust tips. This particular example also came equipped with the Light Package, which includes adaptive headlights with xenon bulbs as well as the headlight cleaning system. The M6 rides on dealer optioned BMW Style 101 20” aluminum wheels manufactured by BBS which are currently dressed Continental tires. The original factory-equipped wheels are also available (see photo gallery) and the seller has offered to mount these wheels instead upon the next owner's request.

The Merino full leather interior features M-Sport seats, an M-Sport steering wheel, and M6 branded door sills. Other factory options include carbon fiber trim, the Comfort Access keyless entry system, a heated steering wheel, and a premium BMW Individual audio system. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional including the power convertible top.

Under the hood lies the all-aluminum 5.0L S85 V10 engine which makes up to 500 HP and 348 lb.-ft of torque. The powertrain offers two variable settings, one rated at 400 HP and the other at 500 HP with the M-Sport mode engaged. It allows the M6 convertible to reach 60 MPH from a standstill in as little as 4.6 seconds with an electronically governed top speed of 155 MPH. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a rare 6-speed manual transmission. The M6 also features a selectable electronic dampening system, M-specific springs, shocks and anti-roll bars, larger brakes, and the M-Variable differential lock system. In the last year, this vehicle has received a new battery, a new secondary air pump, and an oil service. Additional service information is available on CARFAX and the seller notes the vehicle to have been maintained by the specialists at German Autoworks as well as an authorized BMW dealer.

This sale will include the original first-aid kit and a clean title.  With its powerful V10 engine and 6-speed manual transmission, this rare BMW M6 Convertible is on its way to becoming a truly collectible modern classic.

@txhedg I do not have any record of the Rod Bearing being done on this car. But I can also say that we are a BMW shop that has been in business since 1971 and I have never seen the Rod bearings go in one of these V10's. This car was owned by a Mature individual who did not get in the car cold and beat on it. I have seen rod bearing fail on other BMW's and usually it is because people do not understand that you have to let the engine oil warm up on these cars before you go beat on them. That is why these M cars have the rev limiter that moves up as the engine oil warms up, it is to protect against Rod bearing problems. We have also been servicing this car for sometime and the engine has never had any signs or issues of any internal problems. Thanks for your interest and good luck.

  • hdarth (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Thanks for the interest. The car is in our warehouse but I will get driving videos in the next day. Also @mdkillen there is not a service contract that transfers with the car. There is an option to buy one if interested but there is not one that transfers with the car.
