Finished in Carrara White over Cocoa Special Leather, this 2008 Porsche 997 Turbo Cabriolet was configured at an original sticker price exceeding $151k. It features a Tiptronic S transmission, the Sport Chrono Package Turbo, Exterior Package Painted, painted rocker panels, red taillights, the Makassar Package, a leather rear center console, the Parking Assist System, and much more. Providing an exhilarating open-air driving experience, this Turbo Cabriolet is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida with approximately 78k miles showing on the odometer.

This 997 is finished in Carrara White with a Cocoa convertible soft top and Turbo-specific bodywork that includes wider fenders, integrated side air intakes, unique bumpers, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. Options include the Exterior Package Painted, painted rocker panels, painted headlight cleaner covers, and red taillights. It rides on 19” 911 Turbo wheels wrapped in new Bridgestone Potenza tires. The seller notes two dings, which occurred inside a garage, on the passenger’s side door and rear wheel arch. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Cocoa Special Leather upholstery complemented with the optional Makassar Package and B-pillar belt outlets in Makassar. Additional options include a leather rear center console, interior-colored floor mats, heated front seats, the Parking Assist System, a remote 6-disc CD changer, and the Sport Chrono Package Turbo which adds a stopwatch dial atop the dashboard. LED interior lighting has been installed, and all gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in working order.

Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine, the 997 Turbo sends up to 480 HP and 460 lb.-ft. of torque to all four wheels by way of a 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission. Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package Turbo, a temporary overboost setting for increased peak torque is enabled, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 3.5 seconds, going on to reach a top speed of 193 MPH. The seller adds that the spark plugs, coils, filters, fluids, and brake pads & rotors have been serviced within the last 2k miles. Additionally, the TPMS sensors were replaced less than 6 months ago, and new MAF sensors have been installed.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and sales literature.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a beautiful car - the white & cocoa combination is one of the best. With recent major service and new Bridgestones, the car is ready to go. I hate to sell it, but I am refocusing my Porsche contingent, and this one must go.”

@Jhochwalt Many many thanks. We've ben through a rough patch in life lately and this is the reward for it That said, my wife "rang the bell" 48 hours ago, which means final cancer treatment and clean bill of health. This car is the celebration!!! And yes, if we're ever in Ohio :-) PS - enjoyed your use of the word doppelgänger. Great German word!

  • Jhochwalt (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 4 daysago

You are going to love this ride. The whoosh of twin turbines in open air, 3.4 second 0-60 times quicker than many new P cars, its the deal of the century. Tap the throttle twice quickly and it downshifts into a beast on the highway. I have its doppelganger in Ohio if you are ever passing through. Enjoy.

@jmorin Thanks. My wife finished her cancer treatments 48 hours ago and fell in love with the looks of the vehicle. We just got married a year ago and, despite me being a lifetime Porsche guy, this is only the second time she has said, "Wow - that's one gorgeous car." I can't reach her until a bit after 4:00, but she's going to be one happy girl. And she turned 70 last month, so things are going well for her. I suspect she will have one GIANT smile on her face tonight!

@jmorin thanks for you rinterest. There is no PPF on the car. There are very few stone chips on the nose and hood, looks surprisingly good. I am sure over it's life the nose had been resprayed at some point, but looks good.

Thank you Russell for hosting Vicki and my visit yesterday. Great to meet you and, more importantly, get to see and drive the car. For folks reading this, the car is just as advertised. Drives nicely and is an enjoyable around town car, especially for those of us in Florida (or other nice climates). Engine sounds great (one of the reasons we all love 911s). The convertible top works smoothly and even the CD player still works. Vicki was particularly impressed with the cocoa interior. Good color combo. Thanks again for hosting our visit!

  • SLGold1606 4 weeksago

    Thank you.

  • RussellWitt (seller) 4 weeksago

@SLGold1606 No IMS bearing issues with the 997 Turbo engine. The "metzger' engines used in the turbos/GT3/race cars are a different design.

  • SLGold1606 4 weeksago

Is this a year whereas the IMS issues were still evident? If so, was the necessary work completed?

  • DavidC951s (registered bidder) 4 weeksago

@RussellWitt Yes - Brad got it working about 10 minutes ago. Sent you a PM.

  • RussellWitt (seller) 4 weeksago

@DavidC951s LOL I'm not sure why the "contact seller" is not working.....it definitely has in previous auctions...I'm sure Pcar can get that working today.

  • DavidC951s (registered bidder) 4 weeksago

It appears that the "Contact Seller" button for registered users is not working at the moment(clicking it while logged in does nothing). I've sent them a message via "Contact Us", but perhaps there is a "Contact Buyer" button you can use to reach me. Otherwise I'll try to give my contact there a call in an hour when the shop opens.

  • DavidC951s (registered bidder) 4 weeks, 1 dayago

@RussellWitt I’ll try to figure out how to PM so we can exchange info for a visit without it being part of the public postings.

  • RussellWitt (seller) 4 weeks, 1 dayago

@DavidC951s thanks for your interest and I have no problem at all with an in person look at the car. I’m sorry but I have no info to add to the car fax service report. The previous owner to me really offered no records or information on early history of the car. You’re seeing the body correctly. I thought it would be best if the new owner managed the repairs to their liking instead of me.

    Russell,
Two items for us to try to better understand.
"Engine removed to complete repair" in November of 2012. Do you have any insights into this? Can't imagine Bert Smith would have details on this back this far, but maybe.
Dents on a white car are hard to see in pictures. It looks like one is above and to the left of the air intake and directly over the wheel well. The other appears relatively obvious just to the right of the door handle. It appears in the picture to be more than just a dent, but also an attempt to repaint it with touch up. Am I seeing this correctly?
We too are in FL and would certainly consider seeing the vehicle in person and discussing the last maintenance report you would have. CarFax shows a 2021 by Porsche in Mobile, AL, but perhaps you have one since then.
We have two older turbos from the mid-80s, so this is surely something "new" for us.
    Many thanks,
    David Curtin
PS - If you are amendable to us seeing the vehicle in person, I guess we ask PCarMarket for how to exchange information.

@Aquaboy2u Major service was done about 2k miles ago. Receipts are in the gallery and the work is described above. Unfortunately I have no records prior to my ownership.

  • RussellWitt (seller) 1 monthago

@Porsche1959 1 key with remote and 1 valet key. Top works perfectly and the fabric is in really good condition. No on the IMS. That is not an issue with the 997 Turbo engine.

  • Aquaboy2u (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Do you know if any of the major services have been done along the way? Looks like maybe the 40k per the carfax report

  • Porsche1959 1 monthago

Are there 2 keys for the vehicle?
    Any issues with top operation?
Has the IMS bearing ever been replaced?
