Now up for auction is this 2008 Porsche 997 Turbo Cabriolet finished in GT Silver Metallic over a two-tone Black and Stone Grey interior.  With its race-derived Mezger engine and 6-speed manual gearbox, this first-generation 997 Turbo is among the most sought-after Porsches of the modern era. This example was configured at an original sticker price of over $148k with a limited-slip differential, Parking Assist System, the Sport Chrono Package Turbo, a thicker leather steering wheel, illuminated door sill guards, and Adaptive Sport Seats with Porsche crested headrests. In addition to these desirable factory options, this 997 has been upgraded with an EVOMS engine tune, a Stage 2 clutch, and a full custom sound system.  Recently serviced in preparation for sale, this 997.1 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Arizona with just under 36k miles showing on the odometer.

This 997 is finished in GT Silver Metallic with a power-retractable cabriolet top in Stone Grey. The seller states that the car has always been garage-kept and covered under their ownership and that a layer of Suntek paint protection film preserves the full front end, mirror covers, and rear fender flares.  The film was installed in May of 2018 and is covered under a 10-year warranty.  This 997 rides on factory 19” Turbo wheels with colored Porsche center crests and Michelin Pilot Sport tires mounted in May of 2018 within the last 600 miles. Only a few small stone chips are noted throughout the exterior and the seller reports the hood and rear bumperettes have been refinished to address minor cosmetic imperfections.  CARFAX shows a rear-end incident to have occurred in 2011, and the seller had an inspection carried out at the time of their purchase in 2015 which found the rear bumper cover to have been refinished with no other signs of persisting damage.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with the full CARFAX report.

Inside, this Turbo has been tastefully appointed with a two-tone Black and Stone Grey interior featuring heated Adaptive Sport Seats with Exclusive Porsche crest headrests.  Other options include a thicker three-spoke multifunction steering wheel in leather, the Parking Assist System, and illuminated door sill guards in stainless steel.  A painted center console and accent trim have been added and a full custom 1,000+ watt JL Audio and Focal Stereo system was installed at a cost of approximately $5k including an Android Auto touchscreen head unit and dual 10-inch JL Audio subwoofers in custom enclosures mounted in place of the rear seats. The seller notes that the subwoofers are easily interchangeable with the original rear seat cushions included in the sale. The cabin is said to remain well presented while showing normal signs of wear on the driver's seat and handbrake cover.

Regarded as one of Porsche’s greatest engine designs, this 997 is equipped with a 3.6L twin-turbocharged Mezger engine derived from the GT1 Le Mans race car.  This engine can produce as much as 480 HP and 460 lb.-ft of torque in stock configuration. All four wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission with an optional limited-slip differential.  The optional Sport Chrono Package Turbo allows the driver to optimize performance characteristics with the press of a button.  This example has also been upgraded with EVOMS 550 engine software and a Stage 2 clutch for enhanced power output and drivability.  The tune and clutch were installed at 32,400 miles along with new diverter valves and spark plugs.  A full service and inspection were also just recently completed by Mcilvain Motors at 35,950 miles.

This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, a battery charger, the orignal rear seat cushions, a car cover, and a clean title. Lightly modified and well-equipped from the factory, this 6-speed Cabriolet may very well be the 997 Turbo you've been searching for.

On BAT this would be a six figure six-speed manual 997.1 Turbo Cabriolet. At 36k Miles the turbos are not even warmed up.

@911lover The accident was reported in 11/2011 which was prior to my purchase. The carfax at the time of my purchase and now shows the Vehicle Functional, which I was told at the time meant that it was drive-able and not towed from the scene. When I did my PPI prior to the purchase in Dec 2015, that was an issue I was concerned about. The inspector had it on the rack and noted that it looked like the bumper cover was painted, but he said all looked completely fine. No evidence of further damage. He noted the fasteners were Porsche originals and looked very professional repair. He noted the car was serviced at the Porsche Scottsdale in July 2011 and then in July 2012 and he said he guessed it was done by/for the dealer. He had told me I should not be concerned and so I proceeded with the purchase.

@kgtkgtkgt The hydraulic lift system has been replaced with the EBWerks adjustable wing mount. It is a lightweight mount system that includes quick release pins for height adjustments or fixed bolt height. I have it set at about 1 inch higher than factory with bolts but it could be the same height or lower. See inside deck lid photo for the wing mounts detail and center rear photos for the detail of the rods. Personally, I like it in the up position better, but the original hydraulic system is included in sale (photo of items in box) could be reinstalled in minutes but it would need to be rebuilt first as it was not maintaining pressure in one side. Fairly common problem it sounded like in online forums (google - 997 turbo spoiler failure). Let me know if you need more details.

It appears the spoiler is in the up position in all photos, does it go down?

@PheasantRun Great question and the answer is why it is for sale. It was always intended to be a low mileage driving car for special occasions. I did drive it the first couple years. Trip to Vegas, San Diego, Tucson, dinners, Porsche club drives, etc. So much fun. Then my wife had serious medical issues. It is no longer comfortable for her to get into the car to ride with me. So down to just me driving it around the block to keep it moving. I still love it but life happens.

600 miles in 40 month? Please tell us why.

I appreciate the comment on the original PCM. Yes, the original PCM, amplifier, navigation unit, CD unit, and speakers were unplugged and stored and will go with the sale. They could be reinstalled to be original. Even the rear subwoofers are form fit into the opening and only uses the rear seat pad velcro straps for fastening. Clean install designed with this in mind, just in case. I have uploaded a photo of the original system and will ask the PCarMarket team to post.

I see you have replaced the PCM with a more modern system. Do you have the original?

…Because I would want to be able to slowly and carefully destroy it myself. The pcm in these 997.1 is so bad (the buttons, the menus, the capabilities) and almost any replacement would be so much better. I don’t understand why buyers are always interested in putting them back in to make them “correct”. I was careful to get my 997 with original pcm and I regret it so much. I just had to get that off my chest.

Beautiful car and good luck selling it.

Welcome to the auction of my Porsche Turbo Cabriolet. I have owned it since December 2015 and have taken very good care of it. The car was in Paradise Valley, AZ for the 5 years before that. I am here to answer any of your questions that I can.
