We are pleased to present this low-mileage 2008 Porsche 997 GT3 finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a black leather and Alcantara interior.  Marking the second generation of the Porsche GT3, the 997 version was unveiled in 2006 featuring improved overall performance and a highly revered Mezger flat-six engine.  This 2008 example is said to be in exemplary condition and is ideal for collectors and enthusiasts alike.  Showing just over 13k miles on the odometer and offered with a clean DME, this tastefully configured GT3 has undergone a recent full service and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

The Arctic Silver Metallic finish is stated to be in exceptional condition with paint protection film applied over the full exterior excluding the roof.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings (these readings may be irregular on account of the protective film).  This GT3 features an iconic rear wing along with a revised factory front fascia with added mesh front grill covers which prevent unwanted debris from entering.  This example has also been factory equipped with red taillights, the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package and GT3 wheels which are finished in black and dressed in healthy Pirelli P-Zero tires.

Inside, you will find a sporty black leather and Alcantara interior which is said to be in excellent condition.  A black painted roll bar has been installed in this otherwise completely stock cabin.  Commanding an original MSRP totaling over $114k, this GT3 showcases black leather Adaptive Sport Seats, Porsche crested headrests, Sound Package Plus and the Sport Chrono Package without PCM.  An image of the full build sheet is provided in the photo gallery.

This GT3 is equipped with a 415 HP 3.6 L Mezger flat-six engine which was originally developed for racing applications.  This highly desirable powerplant utilizes a dry-sump design which resists IMS bearing related issues.  A crisp 6-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels making for a 0-60 time of approximately 4 seconds and a top speed north of 190 MPH.  Performance features include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the optional Sport Chrono Package.  This GT3 has undergone a very recent full service which included all new fluids and filters as well as a brand-new set of tire pressure sensors.  Offered with a clean DME and a collection of service records citing routine maintenance, this GT3 remains in ideal driving condition.

Credited for providing one of the best driving experiences you could have in a modern Porsche, Motortrend said of the 997 GT3, “Every action prompts a linear, predictable reaction, making this among the most intuitive cars on the planet.”

The sale of this GT3 will include the original books and tools, service records and a set of two keys.  Do not miss your opportunity to own this well-presented Porsche 997 GT3.

    Amazing buy

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@Boatdoc74 I'm very aware of the Porsche vehicles on BaT and I have sold and bought couple of vehicles through BaT. The 2007 GT3 you indicated in your message that was sold thru BaT doesn't even come close to the quality of the condition of this car.

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@switchcars We don't need to read your countless of excuses of why you and your clients didn't bid on this car. All I know is @VarioCam got the most sweetest deal EVER on a recently serviced, gorgeous 997 GT3 with only 13k miles on it for the unbelievable price of $78k (not including fees). He is probably reading our messages and jumping for joy! Goooood for him!

  • Boatdoc74 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@siabond26 was this not a comparable car at a comparable mileage and price point that sold on a world wide platform? Not looking for an argument here but I think that you’re basing your knowledge on asking prices rather than what the market is actually saying

  • switchcars (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@siabond26 I'll show myself to the door. Buyer and seller are likely both happy, otherwise it would be RNM. Congrats to Pcarmarket on another successful transaction.

  • BlackMTN (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@switchcars I appreciate your confidence in your trade but I disagree. This was a big transaction on a big worldwide platform. But what I do I know.. we're just here to learn from you apparently.

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

    @switchcars
I totally disagree with you. A 2 owner, clean Arctic Silver GT3 (with no desirable options) with only 13k miles is definitely worth above $100k. If it had more options or if it was a rare color, then it would be worth more than that.
Also, you don't know anything about the Seller's financial situation or motive on the sale of their car. Unfortunately times are rough these days for some people due to Covid and they're unloading their expensive items or cars for peanuts these days so they could use the money for more important or priority things. I'm guessing if Covid wasn't around, this seller would never sell this GT3 for $20k-$30k below market value.

  • switchcars (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@BlackMTN These aren't stocks that can be compared apples to apples. One of my clients who wanted this car didn't bid because the auction format makes him nervous. Another client didn't bid because it didn't have the options he wanted. I didn't bid because I didn't have time to vet the car properly. And this is only one trade in one marketplace - there are plenty of other comps. The market doesn't crash because of one result in a marketplace that sees dozens of GT3s trade every month.

  • Onthelookout (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@ambassador-Auto congratulations on the sale. And to @VarioCam as well - enjoy the car.

  • BlackMTN (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@switchcars "A car is worth what a buyer is willing to pay" Nothing is more annoying than that dumbass statement. No shit... ?

  • BlackMTN (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@switchcars , It 100% effects the market. It's called "last trade".

  • switchcars (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@siabond26 No it isn't. A clean, no stories, 13k mile GT3 is realistically worth $90k +/- on the retail side. This was missing some key options that would bring it higher value, and Arctic Silver is not the most desirable color for resale.

That said, a car is worth what a buyer is willing to pay, and this car, today, was worth $82,688

  • switchcars (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@BlackMTN No it didn't. The rest of the buying world doesn't respond to one transaction.

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

    @981gt4
They don't need to announce that the reserve has been met. If the bids pass the reserve amount, then the car will get sold automatically. Lucky Day for the Buyer!

  • 981gt4 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

Did they announce the reserve was met? I don't see a sold. Just current high bid

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

I think the word 'stolen' is an understatement. This car is worth over $100k minimum. I'm sure the Buyer is jumping up and down now.

  • BlackMTN (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

Wow...just wow. This just crashed the GT3 market..

  • switchcars (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

Absolutely stolen. I didn't have time to do my due diligence on this one as I've been on vacation, otherwise I would have jumped in. Buyer got an incredible deal if there are no surprises.

  • siabond26 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

You can't even find a 2008 911 turbo with 13k miles for $77k. This is a GT3 with 13k miles and it's worth A LOT more than a 911 turbo. Last week I got an offer to buy a 2008 911 turbo coupe with stick with 28k miles for $82k, I'm actually thinking about buying it at that price.

@Onthelookout Thanks for reaching out. To confirm for you, yes the video was taken before the service was completed. I tried to do a reset on the TPMS while driving the video and that is when we realized the sensors had an issue. As the invoice indicates, we replaced all the TPMS sensors and reset the pressure. All is good and there are no warning lights on any longer.

  • Onthelookout (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

In the video it appears the tire pressure and general warning dash lights are on while driving. Can you confirm, as well as if these have been cleared? Realize it is noted the sensors were replaced as part of the latest service, so uncertain if the video was prior to replacement or otherwise.

To all. I just uploaded pictures of the underside and tire depth and tread pictures to PCar. They will be uploaded shortly to the gallery. Thank you.

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 3 years, 10 monthsago

@td_7 I am not aware if they have or have not been done. The service records that I have for the car are the ones that are in the PCar Gallery.

  • td_7 (registered bidder) 3 years, 10 monthsago

Have the coolant lines been pinned/welded? Thanks

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 3 years, 10 monthsago

@GBX thanks for pointing that out. There was some silicone on that spot on the windshield when these photos were taken. It has been removed since and appears to have a rough edge right in that spot. No cracks or leaks, just a rough edge. Whoever is the winning bidder and if for some reason they think it is an issue, I will be happy to replace the windshield if necessary. I don’t think there is any issue. On Monday I will upload a picture without the silicone. I hope that helps.

  • GBX (registered bidder) 3 years, 10 monthsago

What’s going on in the front windshield in pic 71? are those just fingerprints or was the front windshield replaced and done poorly?

@Onthelookout Thanks for reaching out with your questions. As far as the starting issue and the front strut issue. I did not notice either of the issues. When I had the vehicle in for the recent service last week, I had the shop look at those items as well and no issue was found with either. The current PPF was put on the car with the previous owner that I got the car from in early 2015. The car had approximately 7900 miles. It did have PPF on the front of the car prior to that as well, but that was removed and everything was replace in early 2015. There is no discoloration or yellowing that I have found. The roll bar was added around the same time as the PPF in 2015. The car did local Porsche Club track events, but nothing more than club events to my knowledge. I have know this car personally since the previous owner bought it in the end of 2014. I have uploaded a closer picture of the scratch in picture #37 behind driver rear wheel down on the bottom of the side bumper. I am sure PCar will upload shortly. If you hit the "Contact Seller" button, I can send you the picture directly. I hope this helps answer your questions.

  • Onthelookout (registered bidder) 3 years, 10 monthsago

Good day. Has there been any resolution to the issues around the vehicle starting as well as the strut (as noted in the Flemington Porsche service records)? Do you know how long the PPF as been on the car, and is there any yellowing or discoloration in-person? Otherwise, has the car been tracked / extensively tracked given the addition of the roll bar? Lastly, can we also see a closer picture of #37 (looks to be damage near the bottom)?

  • panton (registered bidder) 3 years, 10 monthsago

My apologies, I should have been more careful and scrolled down all the photos. Thank you

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 3 years, 10 monthsago

@panton the car fax is already posted. If you go through the pictures, you will see it towards the end of them. Also are copies of the service invoices that I have including the service that was just completed on Monday. There is no additional PPI. I asked them to go through the car when it was in for the service on Monday. You will see they also found that they found the tire pressure monitors were faulty so I had them replace all of them.

  • panton (registered bidder) 3 years, 10 monthsago

HI. Is it possible to post the carfax report and PPI (if you have one)

  • panton (registered bidder) 3 years, 10 monthsago

    @Ambassador-Auto Thanks for confirming.

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 3 years, 10 monthsago

@panton 2 things, #1 there was no IMS issue with any GT3 as they had the Mezger designed engine. See link just for an FYI which give some explanation o the Mezger

    https://www.total911.com/the-12-rarest-exclusive-built-porsche-911s-ever/

and #2 the IMS bearing issue ended in very early 2006 with all the other 911 variations. I hope that helps and gives some clarity.

  • panton (registered bidder) 3 years, 10 monthsago

Thanks. Has the IMS issue been addressed?

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 3 years, 10 monthsago

@panton Hello and thanks for reaching out. Yes, it is a 997.1. The 997.2 generation started in 2009. I hope that helps.

  • panton (registered bidder) 3 years, 10 monthsago

Can you confirm the car is a 997.1 gen

    thanks
