Inspired by the contemporary GT3 RS, the 2008 Porsche 987 Boxster Limited Edition features unique Orange paint complemented by gloss black mirrors, air inlets, and wheels as well as the SportDesign Package, a sports exhaust system, painted interior trim, and other special details. This example is one of 250 Boxster Limited Editions produced in total and features a 6-speed manual transmission, Sport Chrono Package Plus, the Bose High-End Sound Package, heated seats, and Bi-Xenon headlights. Diligently maintained by its owner and with approximately 52k miles showing on the odometer, this Boxster Limited Edition is now being offered for auction out of Arizona.

The Boxster Limited Edition comes finished in Orange (8C6), a historic Porsche color of the late 1950s. It features matching painted roll bars and gloss black accents on the mirror covers, front and side air inlets, rear model designation, and 18” Cayman S wheels. It also comes standard with the SportDesign Package which adds aggressive front splitters, an integrated rear diffuser, and a revised speed-activated spoiler. The seller notes the front bumper was refinished to eliminate license plate mounting holes in 2021 and the convertible top transmission was recently replaced. Noted imperfections include some signs of wear on the black convertible top, rock chips on the front bumper and rear quarters, a small dent on the trunk lid, and yellowing on the factory-applied rear quarter stone guards. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the Boxster Limited Edition features Black leather upholstery complemented by Orange painted trim on the cup holder cover, shifter surround, and around the door handles. Alcantara trim also covers the seat centers, shift boot, brake handle, and three-spoke steering wheel. A plaque on the glovebox designates this Boxster as Limited Edition Nr. 238/250. Other features include automatic climate control, heated seats, the Bose High-End Sound Package, the Sport Chrono Package, and an aftermarket Kenwood stereo paired with an amplifier in the luggage compartment. An aftermarket 917-style wooden shift knob has been installed and the original Alcantara shift knob is said to accompany the sale. The seller notes some signs of wear are present on the seat centers, steering wheel, and shift knob, the Sport Chrono clock second hand is broken, some chips are present on the convertible top switch, and the cup holder cover trim sags slightly.

A naturally aspirated 2.7-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 245 HP and 201 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. An active sport exhaust system comes standard along with Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and four-piston brakes paired with cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The seller notes the car has been maintained regularly at Exotic Motorwerks of Scottsdale including new brake pads, rotors, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires in 2022. The car has also been serviced with new spark plugs and updated 987.2 coils as preventative maintenance.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “I spent over a year searching for this exact specification - it is my perfect 987. This car has been enjoyed and well maintained by an enthusiast. All maintenance is up to date with a recent oil change and new convertible top transmission in Dec 2023. This car is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next owner.”

This was taken in sport mode with the engine warm. You can hear the exhaust valve open at higher RPMs.

@croy56 Thanks for the interest and advice. I had thought about that after the auction as well. I’ll work on those videos and get them uploaded shortly.

Seller, I am still interested in this Boxster. A genuine interst. Can you provide a video of the top in operation up and down as well as a driving video.
Perhaps the lack of videos kept the price down.

@Power93 I can verify that is an accurate representation of the hood. I can also get some additional photos in different lighting for you.

  • Power93 (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

pic 15 and 16 appear to show lots of chip however it also looks like a really dirty camera censor. are you able to verify and or reshoot the hood

@WH911 That is correct, it does not have the dedicated PSE button. The exhaust valve function is integrated into the “Sport” button. I believe this was the case for some cars optioned with PSE depending on when they were built. It is an OEM system and has not been modified.

  • WH911 (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

What kind of "active sport exhaust system" does it have? It does not have the typical PSE button.

  • nobrakes (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

This is a kick ass looking car... considering what a great car the 986 Boxster S is, this base motor car has the same power as the old S so its got the chops to make a great driver for the next owner.

@croy56 That should be a reflection of the badge but I can double check and get some more photos tonight.
The misalignment is from the springs in the opening mechanism wearing out. I've read you can try to bend them to give it more tension again or otherwise replace the whole cup holder assembly.

  • croy56 (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

Is that a scratch in the painted panel above the glovebox door handle (photo 38).
Also what is causing the misalignment of the panel?

  • MainTrain (seller) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@Metalo It appears I’ve misplaced the original PPI and service receipt. I do have the major service receipt from 22 and the most recent oil change and repairs from Porsche Chandler. I do not have any of the maintenance records from prior owners.

  • Metalo (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

Do we have any receipt for the current owner's maintenance? Any other maintenance documentation from the earlier years?

@JohnCol Good catch! You're correct, this is a 5-speed. 6-speed was standard on the S and a rare option on the base. I'll add some photos of the undercarriage!

  • JohnCol (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

The title says 6-speed but the description says 6-speed in one spot then 5-speed in another. I'm assuming it's a 5? I think only the S model had a 6. Do you have any pictures of the undercarriage?

  • Caymanorcarrera (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

    Attr@Clive LE 987 Boxster manual w some miles…..And I’m a sucker for Tangerine.

  • MainTrain (seller) 3 months, 4 weeksago

@tubby356 My understanding aligns with @eshaile's explanation. The IMS is largely a non issue for this engine and I have not checked if it has been replaced.

  • tubby356 (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

Thanks I did not know that will check into it.

  • eshaile (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

@tubby356 - I believe that in the 2006+ engines, the IMS bearing is non-serviceable and the only way to replace it is a full engine tear-down (splitting the block). I also believe the 2006+ larger bearings are much more robust.

  • tubby356 (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

I see the clutch was replaced at 21k miles. Did they also do the IMS bearing

  • JohnCol (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

Thank you. I see it now.

  • MainTrain (seller) 3 months, 4 weeksago

@JohnCol It is tough to see! Photo 24 near the center of the photo. It seems like something slightly too large was put in the trunk and it's pushed out a little.

  • JohnCol (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

I couldn't see a dent on the trunk. Is it so small that I'm not seeing it?

  • ToddStorm 3 months, 4 weeksago
