Initially delivered to Manhattan Motorcars of New York, this 2008 Porsche 987 Cayman S was configured with a desirable 6-speed manual transmission and a Black finish over a matching leather interior. It was additionally optioned with the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, Preferred Package Plus, Bose High-End Sound Package, heated front seats, colored Porsche-crested wheel caps, and more. Showing under 32k miles on the odometer, this meticulously maintained two-owner example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

Compared to the standard Cayman, the “S” version sports red-finished brake calipers and dual exhaust outlets. This 987 was ordered in nonmetallic Black along with the optional Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package. It rides on factory 18” Cayman S wheels with colored Porsche-crested wheel caps and Bridgestone Potenza tires from 2018. The seller adds that paint protection film covers the front bumper and rear wheel arches, and a paint correction was performed in 2016 at J&T Professional Detailing followed by four layers of Ceramic Pro coating. A Ceramic Pro coating follow-up treatment was also performed in 2018 and in 2021. Slight signs of road wear are noted, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the black standard leather interior features heated seats, the Power Seat Package, and the Preferred Package Plus. Additional options include the Bose High-End Sound Package, a 6-disc CD changer, and self-dimming mirrors with rain sensors. The seller notes some small scratches beneath the parking brake area, and a custom suede headliner was installed in August of 2021. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.

This Cayman S is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine producing up to 295 HP and 251 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission while stopping is handled by fixed 4-piston brakes with ventilated and cross-drilled discs at each corner. The seller states that annual oil changes have been kept up to date and the brake system was flushed a total of four times during their ownership. Maintenance in 2019 is said to include serving the rear main seal/IMS flange along with a direct oil feed kit to the IMS bearing as a protective measure. In 2021, a major service was carried including new filters, direct injection coils, and spark plugs. Additionally, a service and inspection was carried out in August 2023. The CARFAX report shows a total of 20 service history entries dating back to the initial delivery.

This sale will include a clean title and owner’s manuals.

The seller would like you to know: “I have owned this Cayman S for 11 plus years. The car has been maintained meticulously. It has only been hand-washed under my ownership and has been kept away from snow and salt. I purchased the Cayman in like new condition with 8,531 miles on it and have since put approximately 23k miles on it. Enough so no issues, while also maintaining its pristine condition. The car has never seen a track or Autocross and has only been serviced by PCA tech-approved shops. My wife and I are moving and the only reason for the sale. Please see the detailed service history attached including recent major services.  New headliner and battery in August of 2021. As a preventative measure, I had a direct oil feed to the IMS bearing installed in 2019 while having the rear main seal/IMS flange serviced.  Work was completed by M-Chanics in Mineola. They are a PCA tech-approved shop and the owner is our PCA zone tech advisor. The car has never seen snow or salt and rain only when caught unexpectedly. Brand new OEM Bridgestone Potenzas were installed in August of 2018.  They have 6500 miles on them since. Good to go for some time. Thank you for considering my Cayman S.”

@Mcd917 lol yes! I had to be the "grownup" and stop though. As a financial professional, I had to fight myself every time I raised my bid. Well played.

@On2luck K the cold start now posted. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Did the best I could - I started car cold as you can see by temp gauge, jumped out and was at back of car in about 10 seconds. Touched exhaust. I'm at work now and car is home so not sure I can get there before dark now to have wife or a neighbor help. You can see how clean the tips are....

@DrDck Pads/rotors in great shape but are original. They were inspected in August when car was serviced. I asked specifically about the pads and was advised by my shop and owner that there was plenty of life/thickness left and replacement not yet warranted. As proactive as I am I would have replaced the pads if any concern. No squeal and you can see the condition of wheels/brakes in attached pics. Had I not been selling I would have just had inspected again next service. This was my nice weather, Sunday car so brakes were never subject to a beating, track or autocross. It is a future service though and I respect the question....I planned in my head that I would probably be doing pads within next year or two if I kept the car. Thank you!

  • On2luck (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@CaymanS Cold starts are a two person job.

  • DrDck (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@CaymanS - What are the condition of the brakes (pads/rotors)? Have they ever been serviced? When were they last inspected. Estimated life left? Thank you!

When you purchase a car you factor the present owner into the decision as well. Between the car and the owner this car has been very well cared for with all preventive items addressed I would not hesitate to pull the trigger on this one. This Cayman is one of the best, if not the best available on the market right now. It checks all the boxes for anyone in the market and the seller is a true enthusiast and the condition of the car clearly shows that.

@DrDck Thanks for the question and don't mind answering at all. My wife and I are those weird people who are moving North, instead of South as we approach retirement. I heard a rumor there are no mountains in FL! And we love the mountains, forests, lakes etc. We are moving to NE Pennsylvania. Finishing a house with property and an unpaved access road. and many dirt roads around. I have kept the car in pristine condition and as you can tell have taken great pride in my stewardship. I have invested, time, money and care due to my fondness for the true mid-engine sports car. Trust me, I will be very sad to see it go and if circumstances were different I would have kept until old age. We will also be on a lake, so swapping the Croc for a boat. The roads in and around the area are indeed perfect for a Cayman, but the access in and out not conducive and i have no interest in storing it elsewhere.

I have sent the cold start video to Pcar in hopes they can post. Should be there by tomorrow AM I expect. If not, i will find an alternate and ensure everyone can see the start.

  • DrDck (registered bidder) 5 months, 4 weeksago

@CaymanS Thank you for the photos. I am also interested in the cold start video (even though it's not that cold in the NE right now).
Curious if you wish to answer - if you have lovingly taken of this car (for 11 years) as it certainly appears, why not take it with you to your next home?
    Much appreciated!

  • Mcd917 (registered bidder) 5 months, 4 weeksago

@CaymanS Sounds good. Maybe posting it to YouTube and pasting the link might work. I'm no expert though.

  • CaymanS (seller) 5 months, 4 weeksago

@Mcd917 Thank you - just took video of cold start. Not as easy to upload as photos....so I'm trying to figure it out. Worse case I'll send to PCar and they can post for me.

@DrDck Thank you for the comments and interest. I will try to get some photos of the headliner tomorrow afternoon when lighting is better, and after I get home from my work office. It is stored in my garage at home - and if weather is good - I'll get it into driveway tomorrow and get some for you.

With respect to exterior and paint condition. There are no defects/ blemishes or scratches. The photos you see were taken in early morning light and are a true representation of the shine you allude to. I had the paint "corrected" in March of 2013 at Detailing Dynamics in Mineola, NY....one of the premier East Coast Detailing shops on the East Coast who specialize in high-end luxury and sports cars. They also installed the PPF on the front bumper, as well as around the fog lights and both front and rear wheel arches to prevent chips/pitting. Additionally, prior to the initial 4 coat Ceramic Pro coating in 2016, the paint was "corrected" once again by J&T Detailing. Follow-up Ceramic Pro one coat maintenance applied again in 2018 and 2021. So, anything that appears to be a defect is truly a reflection. Anyone who sees the car in person at any local car event comments that the car can't be a 2008. That said, in the notes above it makes reference to "slight signs of road wear". Commensurate with a 15 year old car that has been driven regularly but sparingly, there are some very small, almost imperceptible chips on the "frunk". You have to be standing almost on top of and have them pointed out, but they are there and very minor. The car has only been hand washed at J&T detailing and/or by myself. The shine you see, and condition the exterior is in, is truly represented in the pictures. Someone will be getting as good a condition vehicle as possible for an 08. Thanks again and I hope this answers any questions or concerns on condition.

Your Cayman S appears in great condition! I wanted to see if you can provide some additional pics (in good lighting) of the replaced headliner. also if you can point out specifically on what pictures the exterior defects are present. With the back paint and deep shine it's tough to make out reflection vs scratch/ding.
    Thank you.

@Bfueled Thank you for the question....AOS has not been replaced. Car was in for it's annual service/inspection in mid-August (M-chanics) and all checked out fine. No signs/symptoms of AOS issue. Please reference video where car is idling and you can see no smoke, nor during pull away and/or drive-by video. AOS is still good to go. Thanks again!

  • Bfueled (registered bidder) 5 months, 4 weeksago

Great looking Cayman and great specs. Has the AOS been replaced and/or have there been any signs of AOS issues? Thanks and good luck with the auction!

  • CaymanS (seller) 6 monthsago

@tstamm Yes I am. New to this type of auction but believe there is a way to DM me. If so, please do so and we can make arrangements to meet. Thank you!

  • tstamm (registered bidder) 6 monthsago

Are you open to seeing it in person, I live on Long Island

  • CaymanS (seller) 6 monthsago

@racer417 Thanks for the question. Original was starting to sag. Replaced with upgraded Suede matching original color. Completed by one of the most well-known restorers on Long Island. Automat out of Hicksville, NY. Had brand new battery installed same visit.

  • racer417 6 monthsago

Looks great. Why a new headliner?

  • CaymanS (seller) 6 monthsago

Welcome Friends to the Sale of my long-term owned Cayman S. As documented, the Cayman has been meticulously and lovingly cared for during my 11 plus years of ownership. A move to another state forces sale, and only reason why I sadly will part ways. Please let me know any questions you may have. Thank you for considering.
