It was further optioned with the Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, Bose High-End Sound Package, heated Sport Seats in leather, a 3-spoke Sport steering wheel, automatic climate control, and more. A lifelong California car, this meticulously maintained Cayman S is now being offered for auction with just under 30k miles showing on the odometer.

Compared to the standard Cayman, the “S” version is equipped with red-finished brake calipers and dual exhaust outlets. This 987 is finished in Carrara White and features the optional Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package. Other equipment includes side air intakes, power-operated rear spoiler, and front and rear fog lights. It rides on 18” Cayman Sport wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the cabin presents Black upholstery with optional heated leather Sport Seats, a 3-spoke Sport steering wheel, and black floor mats. Other options include the Bose High-End Sound Package, automatic climate control, and self-dimming mirrors along with a rain sensor. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be working properly.

Powered by a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine rated at 295 HP and 251 lb.-ft of torque, the Cayman S sends power to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Braking is handled by fixed 4-piston calipers with ventilated and cross-drilled discs at each corner. The CARFAX report notes a total of 9 service history entries.

This sale will include a clean title, two keys, owner’s manuals, a window sticker, and a car cover.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. My car has been stored in a garage with a car cover protecting the paint of the car. All maintenance is up to date and the best part is that I have a folder with every piece of record done on the car that I will provide. The car is completely original just as it was bought from the dealership. The passenger seat has barely been sat on, everything looks like a brand-new car from the showroom. Not a single ding or scratch, from the exterior and interior of the car.”

@Decatur15 One purpose of the "peanut gallery" here and elsewhere is to provide advice to watchers. If you would advise a friend or family member to just buy a car just because the owner/seller says "the car has no issues and is in perfect condition...don't listen to the hater who says that a 987 S model is prone to bore scoring and you should investigate that before you buy"...then you be you.

The seller here said the tires were great. Should we not have pointed out that they aren't?

@Decatur15 Hello, the air filter all have been maintained and have been cleaned out. The car has no issues and is in perfect condition. I got it checked out at a friend’s shop who works on Porsche. Everything with the car is ready to go and is in amazing condition no issues with anything.

I have sold cars on line before
If not bidding why make negative comments
These cars come up on a regular basis find one that fits your requirements or see the car in person
Has the air freshener been changed?
    Can cause catastrophic failure

  • Kevinmr (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@shawnmundy24 Not hating on the car. I just stand by what I posted below. The fact that you haven't done a $200 bore scope on a 987.1 S model engine is IMO a mistake as a seller. GLWTA.

@Kevinmr The car is amazing condition I have every record and the car fax is all correct. I don’t know why you keep questioning about the car. Whatever shown on the car fax is correct. The car has had minimal problems and nothing major has happened on the car with the records.

@Dupla most of us know how Carfax works, and most of us like to see individual receipts and not a picture of a pile.

These engines need 5k interval oil changes. If I were the seller, I would show that, and also do a inexpensive bore probe.

Seller has been absent from listing for several days and he has not shown by any answers that he is a "car guy".

A lot of people really need to get familiar how the Carfax works.

If the vehicle wasn't serviced at a facility that submits data to the Carfax, the work will not show on the Carfax. Also, reporting to Carfax is completely voluntary. Some shops will, but many will not.

The seller is a perfect example of a lot of maintenance done to the car, but it does not show on the Carfax, but the seller has a binder full of receipts of all the work done to the car.

I do all my oil changes on my cars, and some small repairs, so none of that work will "EVER" show up on the Carfax, that`s why I keep a binder for each of my cars with detailed records of all the work I`ve done to the cars.

No, no, no, tires must be replaced. It doesn’t matter what the mileage is, it doesn’t matter how good they look, when they reach seven or eight years their useful life is over. And it’s dangerous to drive on them at that point. I know what I’m talking about, I’m in the rubber industry. Please replace the tires. There are minimal cost in the scheme of things.

  • Kevinmr (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@shawnmundy24 thanks for the additional receipts.

Just an FYI, despite the fact that the tires might have adequate tread remaining, they are past their "replace" date and any buyer should know that they need to be replaced immediately.

And it would be worth your relatively small $$ and time to do a bore scope. With the oil change intervals here and the fact that this model is absolutely susceptible to scoring, it would be imperative for a buyer to know that there is no evidence of bore scoring. A good/necessary investment for a seller.

    GLWTA.

@Kevinmr I uploaded some paperwork for the maintenance for the car so it should upload load soon on the headliner, oil changes; and every other service.

  • shawnmundy24 (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@JSinCity Hello, you’re welcome to come check the car out if you have time and want to fly here. I’m local to south Orange County and the car is in amazing condition. Everything in the car is original and I have every service done on the car in a folder.

  • shawnmundy24 (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@Kevinmr Hello Kevin I have all the answers for you!
    1. Original IMS bearing it never was needed the car is in mint condition and drives amazing.
    2. Original bore scope the car never needed it because it has been taken care of and is in amazing condition.
    3. The headliner was replaced, and I have the records and receipt for when it was done and I can provide that for you.
    General questions.
    1. Tires are in great condition I got them checked out and you can see in the pictures. So no need to worry about that.
    2. The last only change was completed on November 2023 with the mileage at 29,896.
    3. No paint readings the car has been taken care like a show room car with no dents or scratches.

  • Kevinmr (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Thanks...just thought I'd ask the basic questions. Mileage too low for the probably inevitable water pump failure.

I still don't know about the oil change frequency, which is a big deal vis a vis the bore scoring risk. Carfax doesn't list every service, for sure, but if this car has only had a few oil changes as listed there (and none since 2017) then caveat emptor.

  • por356c 1 month, 2 weeksago

Tires with date codes of 2015/16 should be replaced. About 7-8 years is max regardless of how good they might look or even if they are low mileage. Great car - GLWA!

  • JSinCity (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@Kevinmr the 2006 to 2008 engines came with the larger IMS, failure rate very low. Jake Raby’s video on IMS indicates he has only seen 3 failures on engines within these years all three on high-g, track conditions. I would certainly worry about bore scope and a DME report. Everything else seems like a great car. I wish I had seen this sooner since I’m a 45min away flight from Santa Ana, for $90 round trip flights I would have made arrangements to go test drive it in person, sadly my weekend is jammed pack and the auction will end before I can do so…. GLWTA

  • Kevinmr (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

    Hello, some standard 987 questions:
    1. Original IMS bearing?
    2. Bore scope done?
    3. Any headliner droop?

    General questions:
    1. Tires look like 2015/2016 date codes (so all need to be replaced)?
    2. Carfax only shows two or so oil changes, and none since 2017 - is that correct?
    3. Any paint meter readings available?

    Thanks.
