We are pleased to present this 2008 Porsche 997 GT3 RS finished in Black with contrasting RS graphics in Orange.  Developed to satisfy homologation requirements for motorsport use, the 997 GT3 RS features wider bodywork compared to the standard GT3 along with more aggressive aerodynamics, additional weight savings, and a more powerfully tuned version of the 3.6L flat-six Mezger engine.  One of only several hundred examples sold in the United States, this 2008 GT3 RS came generously optioned with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), the Sport Chrono Package without PCM, and a black full leather and Alcantara interior with deviated orange stitching. It has been upgraded with GT3 Cup toe links and control arm shims, an orange-painted GMG roll cage, and a Fabspeed center muffler bypass. Originally sold in California, this RS was relocated to Canada by its second owner before returning to the U.S. in 2014. Now showing just under 23k miles on the odometer, this rare 997 GT3 RS is being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio.

This 997 is finished in Black (A1) with factory-exclusive painted rocker panels and headlight cleaner covers as well as contrasting RS graphics in Orange.  The 19” GT3 wheels were also factory finished in a deviated Orange theme along with the rear wing endplates.  Sharing is wide bodyshell with the 997 Carrera 4, the GT3 RS measures 2.5” wider at the rear compared to a standard GT3 and achieves weight savings of approximately 44 lbs. using lighter body panels and an adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing.  The car rides on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires showing date codes from 2016 in the front and 2021 in the rear.  The finish is described to be in mostly excellent condition while showing some minor signs of road-going wear. The seller notes the car has seen some track use in noncompetitive D.E. events and reports the lower driver-side rear quarter panel to have been previously refinished.  The driver-side front fender is also suspected to have been refinished at some point under prior ownership, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the cabin is appointed with black full leather and Alcantara upholstery accented by deviated Orange stitching throughout the dashboard, door panels, seats, center console, and rear side panels. Exclusive factory options include door sill guards in carbon fiber and a storage compartment lid in Alcantara with an embossed Porsche logo. This GT3 RS was also configured with the Sport Chrono Package including a standard Porsche CDR24 radio in place of a PCM infotainment system. An orange-painted GMG roll cage has been installed as well as a fire extinguisher mounted below the driver’s seat. A complete list of factory options is provided below:

The optional Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are equipped while standard performance features include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), a multi-link LSA rear suspension, variable-ratio power-assisted steering, and traction control with ABD, ASR, and MSR. This GT3 RS has been further enhanced with GT3 Cup toe links, GT3 16mm control arm shims, Porsche Motorsport shift cables, and a Fabspeed center muffler bypass. @Tneocli The driver's door is factory thickness. As noted in a comment below we do not have any additional information on the paintwork as it was done prior to our purchase in 2014 and the owner from whom we purchased it in 2014 did not have the paintwork performed, and there was nothing in the receipts. Sorry we don't have any more detail than that, but it was well over a decade ago!

  • Tneocli 2 years, 4 monthsago

If I’m seeing correctly off the paint meter readings it looks as if the entire drivers side has had paintwork. Any info on this?

  • switchcars (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Biniba We did our best to detail out the individual flaws and show hi-resolution photos of all areas including the wheels in the gallery. I'd encourage you to take a look through the gallery, as a picture says a thousand words!

  • Biniba (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

How is the condition of the wheels are there any scratches or dents and how is the condition of the side lettering GT3 RS is there any defects or scratches
    Thanks

@mjb2020 I'm sorry but we have no details on the paintwork itself - it was a long time ago and we caught it because of the meter readings. Carfax owns the Canadian version (Carchex) so yes they are quite reliable.
We bought the car in 2014 and the receipts we got show two owners but they don't go back to new. We've since sold it to two different owners since 2014. However, don't buy a GT3 based on the number of owners, because many of them traded hands half a dozen times in the first year or two!

Buyers are welcome to have an independent PPI done before the close of the auction. We inspected the car to our satisfaction given how many times we've had the car through our shop and how well we know both the previous owners and the shops who maintained it. The car is a solid car, nothing strange hiding underneath, and I personally put a few hundred miles on it last summer when we had it.

  • mjb2020 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

are there any more details of the drivers side front fender history ? are carfax accident reports internationally documented well ?
how many owners in total ? PPI available for this car ?
