Available for auction is this 2008 Saab 9-3 Turbo X finished in Jet Black Metallic over a black leather interior. Celebrating 30 years of Saab's turbocharged cars, the limited-edition Turbo X model was offered in 2008 featuring a more powerful turbocharged V6 engine, larger brakes, unique wheels, and Saab’s new XWD all-wheel-drive system. Of the 2,000 examples slated for production, only 600 were designated for the U.S. market. Recently acquired from its original owner out of Portland, Oregon, this Turbo X has been regularly serviced throughout the years and is now being offered for auction by its seller in Colorado showing approximately 93k miles on the odometer.

The Turbo X was offered exclusively in Jet Black Metallic and comes with a slightly lowered ride height and larger front grille opening along with unique 18” alloy wheels in a titanium grey finish.  These wheels come dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 and pay homage to the classic three-spoke “Aero” design debuted on the Saab 900.  Other equipment includes xenon headlamps with washers, clear taillight lenses, rear parking sensors, and dual exhaust outlets.  The seller describes the finish to be in good condition overall, noting some minor imperfections and water spots. Detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is upholstered in black leather and features power-adjustable heated front seats, a thick leather-wrapped steering wheel, driver’s seat memory, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, a turbo boost gauge, and a Bose sound system. The dashboard, shifter, and door panels are accented with a unique carbon fiber trim pattern. The seller notes minor signs of wear on the driver’s seat bolster and confirms all gauges and accessories remain fully functional.

Power comes from a turbocharged 2.8L V6 which produces up to 280 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque. Compared to the standard 9-3, the limited-edition Turbo X receives an additional 25 HP from increased boost pressure. The Turbo X also debuted Saab's XWD system, which drives all four wheels by way of a 6-speed automatic transmission and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential (eLSD). The suspension comes stiffened and lowered from the factory and larger disc brakes are fitted at the front and rear. The CARFAX report shows maintenance history dating back to the original purchase and the seller states the self-leveling rear suspension has been replaced with upgraded Bilstein components.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals and a clean title. Celebrating a lineage of beloved turbocharged cars from Saab, this rare 9-3 Turbo X presents a very special opportunity.

@Nikojo Yea I went through the same process when I bought it. There have been a few for sale on Saabnet but most are higher mileage cars. Based on my research the range for these cars is between $12K-15K

@Nikojo You bet, cI'm happy to answer all your questions. I bought the 93TX from the original owner in Portland who was also very communicative and fun to work with -- he was passionate about the car. I just sent photos and they should be uploaded soon. The seat bolster, both side and and lower cushion exhibit some minor flaws, but overall in good condition.

  • Nikojo (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Could you please post up some shots of left side drivers bolster? I see it only from afar. Looks like some bad wear but understandable…..just wanted to get sense how bad fix might be. Would you have suggestions on fix?

Nice car I figured I’d throw hat in ring. Was trying to do comps and not easy given all the variables. Seller thanks for communicating so well.

@shamedhusker You bet. I'm a very meticulous owner and can assure you I would've taken care of an oil leak -- especially one that was creating a noxious smell.

  • cultcars (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

In the time I've owned the car the only repair items it's needed were the replacement of the gawd awful self leveling rear suspension with a rear suspension kit provided by esaabparts.com. I bought the car with a myriad of door dings, which the previous owner said were generously provided by his wife and kids. I hired a professional PDR expert to remove all the dents. This is a cool, collectible Saab looking for a new enthusiast to give her a home

  • shamedhusker (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@cultcars Thanks for the quick reply, that's what I saw too just wasn't sure if there was a follow up after that service.

    Thanks again, very cool car.

  • cultcars (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@shamedhusker I reviewed repair records from the previous owner and the only items I see relating to your query is as follows:

Service performed at Atomic Autos, Portland, OR. 2-17-20
"Slight burning odor after car is shut off in the garage. There is some oil on the underside of the vehicle. Its not a lot but it is enough to get onto the exhaust and cause the smell. I am not able to tell where it is coming from yet because it has gotten spread around from driving. I am going to clean the area and we can monitor or bring it back in a few days to have it looked at. Test drove. Re-checked for oil leak afterwards and I am not seeing anything at this time."

  • shamedhusker (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Did they ever source the burning oil smell/leak? I saw it in the records that it was looked at but they couldn't find the source. Has it been located since? I may have missed it in the records if it has @cultcars

  • cultcars (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Turboted 100%. You should have no issues with this car on a long road.

  • Turboted (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Since it was recently inspected, does your service place feel confident that it could make a trip to Texas?

  • cultcars (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Nikojo I'm not sure I understand your question. We are the selling dealer and we own this vehicle, there's not a separate seller in this case. Any additional premiums will be paid directly to PCarMarket and as noted in the description we also charge a $299 dealer processing fee

  • Nikojo (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Is this sold through ‘dealer’ or is it possible to get from owner and pay consignment separately?

Makes a big difference in taxes.

  • cultcars (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@Nikojo yes both keys will be provided.

  • Nikojo (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Does this have both keys? Those are difficult/expensive to buy and program.

  • JFREI (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Excellent. The are such great cars, specially the edition you are selling. Were you not 800 miles away, I'd be bidding.

  • cultcars (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@JFREI I checked it and there's no rust

  • JFREI (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Look where the ac condensate hopper is located, back by the firewall, and then see if the hose extends past the cradle. My very fine service people did not set it for twelve years, then the cradle snapped! Later Saabs rerouted the drain and there is no issue with them. My 2008 had an issue. This one should be checked.

  • cultcars (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@JFREI I just checked with the owner at East of Sweden where I’ve had the car serviced. Here’s what he said “ Morning! I don't recall to be honest but I would've said something if it were bad. They rust on the passenger side where the rack mounts. It's really easy to see if you just peek under it and look right behind the cobtrol arm and towards the firewall.”

  • JFREI (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Some Saabs of this vintage had the ac condensate line discharge onto the engine cradle, causing serious rust to the cradle. I think I found the last reasonably priced salvage cradle in the US to fix mine. What is he condition of the cradle in this car?
