The R230 marked a significant evolution of Mercedes’ iconic SL-Class roadster, featuring a new retractable hardtop with a panoramic glass roof. This 2009 example comes finished in Black over a Black/Anthracite interior and features the Sport Package, 19” AMG spoked wheels, the Premium Sound System, and more. This two-owner SL550 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey showing under 70k miles on the odometer.
This SL comes finished in Black (040U). The fifth-generation R230 evoked past SL models with sleek body styling and a vented hood, while the side vents pay homage to the Mercedes SLR supercar. In 2008, the R230 received a facelift including a new single-bar grille with a larger Mercedes emblem, new squared-off headlights, a pair of long power domes running down the hood, and new front and rear bumpers. Equipped with the Sport Package, this SL also wears AMG body styling including more aggressive front and rear bumpers. Standard features include bi-xenon headlamps with active curve illumination, power mirrors with LED turn signals, and variable intermittent windshield wipers with heated washer nozzles. The electro-hydraulic retractable aluminum top features panoramic glass and a sliding sunshade. A set of 19” AMG spoked wheels are dressed in Bridgestone with 2021 date codes. The cabin is appointed with Black/Anthracite (801A) Nappa and Semi-Aniline leather upholstery complemented by Burred Walnut veneers found along the steering wheel, shifter, center console, and door trim. Equipment includes Multi-Contour front seats, Keyless-Go entry, Premium Sound System, automatic climate control, and automatically dimming mirrors. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
This SL is powered by a 5.5-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 engine rated at 382 HP and 391 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 7-speed shiftable automatic transmission. The SL550 is capable of reaching 60 MPH from a standstill in as little as 4.8 seconds with an electronically governed top speed of 157 MPH. This SL550 comes equipped with Mercedes Active Body Control, which uses electronically controlled hydraulic shocks with automatic all-wheel level control, driver-selectable ride height, and automatic speed-sensitive lowering. The seller states that a service carried out in April 2023 included an oil change and brake fluid flush. A CARFAX report showing a total of 32 service entries is provided in the gallery.

And just so everyone knows it’s on the Carfax as well. The motor mounts were done which is very expensive to get done on these vehicles so I’m happy to say that it was already done.

Beautiful 550, with 12k in great options, incl airscarf, pano glass roof, & AMG wheels. Nice! Only surprised no distronic. Not a huge deal though, and I expect you'll do well. Does the car come with any kind of inhouse 14- or 30-day powertrain guarantee? (Not talking about 3rd party extended svc contract). Anyhoo, I'll be keeping a close eye on this gem. Glwta!
