After a facelift for the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class R230 roadster in 2008, the high-performance SL 63 AMG model gained a more powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine along with a new AMG-developed 7-speed MCT "Multi Clutch Technology" automatic transmission. This 2009 example comes finished in Black over a Black/Anthracite leather interior and features an AMG styling package, semi-active roll stabilization, Active Body Control (ABC) suspension a retractable hardtop with Alcantara headliner, bi-xenon headlights, and 19” AMG wheels. Routinely maintained and garage-kept by its owner in Southern California, this SL 63 AMG is now being offered with approximately 64k miles showing on the odometer.
The SL 63 is distinguished from a standard SL-Class roadster by an AMG styling package which includes a redesigned hood and bumpers along with a rear trunk lid spoiler, side skirts and vented front fenders. This example is finished in Black and features custom green-painted brake calipers as well as lower bodywork, hood vents, and 19” AMG VII wheels finished in an authentic Mercedes-Benz matte black color. The seller notes some scuff marks on the wheels that have been smoothed and painted, and indicates a minor accident occurred which caused some cosmetic damage that was isolated to the front fenders, hood, and bumper. All front panels including the grille, headlights, and driving lights were replaced with genuine Mercedes-Benz parts, and repairs were completed by an MB-approved autobody center. The seller adds that the front end remains in excellent condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report which shows minor damage to the front end in 2016 and moderate damage to the right side in 2019.
The cabin is upholstered in Black/Anthracite leather including a matching Designo Alcantara headliner and burred walnut veneer trim pieces. Accessories include heated multicontour seats with driver position memory, a premium sound system, automatic climate control, COMAND APS navigation, auto-dimming mirrors, and automatic bi-xenon headlights with active cornering illumination. The seller notes one of the pop-out cupholders is functioning incorrectly.
Beginning in 2008, the SL 63 AMG was equipped with a new M156 engine, the first production car V8 engine designed autonomously by Mercedes-AMG. It represents the basis of the M159 engine used in the SLS AMG supercar and the AMG GT3 race car. This 6.2-liter powerplant generates up to 518 HP and 465 lb.-ft of torque. The SL 63 AMG is equipped with an AMG 7-speed MCT automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 4 seconds while offering variable Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, and Manual driving modes. It also includes a “Race Start” launch control function. The seller indicates the Race Start setting was never used during their ownership and routine service has been carried out with the most recent maintenance including new spark plugs, coil packs, tires, and a California emissions inspection.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, some service records, and a clean title.

Very fine example of an SL63 AMG.
@thespfxman not to my liking but can be painted back to original, or wrap the whole car AMG GT yellow or Green.
I think I've seen this car before in OC, and remember the matte finish on bumpers.

I bought a 2012 SL63 AMG last summer after kicking myself for selling my 911 cab a couple years before. Have to say it’s a fun and very comfortable convertible and in New England where I live the hardtop is a major plus. GLWTA.

@Bhenrie yes we have pics, will see how I can send them. It was a rather minor accident, fr r body damage, no frame issues, fully repaired. The lower body was custom painted matte black before the accident and was restored after.
@drejw2 no they were custom painted, initially before the minor (no frame or serious internal damage) accident and repaired again shortly thereafter.
