The 2009 model year saw the introduction of the updated Porsche 997.2 generation featuring more powerful direct fuel-injected engines and the option of a new 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK). This 2009 Porsche 997.2 Carrera S Cabriolet comes finished in Macadamia Metallic over a full Cocoa Natural Leather interior and commanded an original sticker price of over $121k including optional heated and ventilated Power Comfort Seats, Porsche-crested headrests, 19” 911 Turbo wheels, Sport Chrono Package Plus, Bose High-End Sound Package, and illuminated door sill guards in stainless-steel. The car was originally sold in Spokane, Washington, and was acquired by the seller from its second owner in 2021 out of Salt Lake City, Utah. A lifelong West Coast car, this Carrera S is now being offered for auction by its third owner out of New Mexico while showing approximately 41k miles on the odometer.

This 997.2 comes finished in Macadamia Metallic with a Cocoa brown cabriolet roof, optional Dynamics Cornering headlights, and 19” 911 Turbo wheels with exclusive 5mm spacers. New Continental ExtremeContact tires were mounted in May 2023. The seller describes the paint to be in good overall condition with clear protective film over the front end and mirror covers as well as a layer of ceramic coating over the full exterior. Protective screens have also been installed in the front radiator grilles. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this Carrera S features Cocoa Natural Leather upholstery including heated and ventilated Power Comfort Seats with driver memory and exclusive Porsche crest-embossed headrests. Other options include illuminated door sill guards in stainless steel, a heated multifunction steering wheel in leather, self-dimming mirrors, the Bose High-End Sound Package, Navigation Module for PCM, XM Radio, Universal Audio Interface, and a Bluetooth Phone Interface. The seller notes the front seat bottoms were replaced with new OEM materials in 2022.

A naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 385 HP to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus, this Carrera S accelerates from 0-60 MPH in as little as 4.5 seconds. The seller notes all routine maintenance has been carried out per the manufacturer’s recommended intervals including a recent 40k-mile service. Under the seller’s ownership, the car also received new Bilstein B4 active shock absorbers, brake pads & rotors, a PDK fluid & filter change, and a new battery.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a car cover, and a clean title.

The high bid is spot on Hagerty's value for a Condition #2 2009 911 S Cabriolet, without discounting for the PDK tranny (which Hagerty says is a 15% deduction).

@DrT Thanks for your story. This car really is easy to enjoy!

  • Passion4Porsche (seller) 7 months, 2 weeksago

I also want to add that this car has been garaged its entire life.

  • Passion4Porsche (seller) 7 months, 2 weeksago

The top is in good condition it might just be the lighting and possibly need a good detailing. But it definitely does not need to be replaced.

  • Passion4Porsche (seller) 7 months, 2 weeksago

@tomt69 There was a hard top available. This car does not include one.

  • Stewee 7 months, 2 weeksago

Does the conv. Top need replacing? It doesn't look good.

  • tomt69 (registered bidder) 7 months, 2 weeksago

Was there an available detachable hardtop for the 997.2 series? If so, does this car include one?

  • DrT (registered bidder) 7 months, 2 weeksago

We recently sold our 997.2 Carrera S Cabriolet and found it to be a really nice car and a great daily driver. 2009 is the first year of the 997.2 version with the improved engine that eliminates the dreaded IMS bearing failures and bore scoring of the 2008 & earlier cars. After a long conversation with Stinels in Twinsburg, Ohio (Porsche 911-only repair specialists), they strongly recommended the 2009+ 997.2 version (they have a back lot full of failed IMS bearing cars with blown & bore-scored engines). There may be plenty of good 997.1 cars but the risk of catastrophic failure requires additional oil lines run to the IMS bearing. Just sayin', a word to the wise. BTW, our 2009 had 29k miles, black/tan, the 6sp manual, and sold to a dealer last summer for $65k.
