Up for auction is this 2009 Porsche 997.2 Carrera Coupe finished in Black over a black standard leather interior.  The 2009 model year marked the second phase of production for the 997 and included a more powerful direct fuel-injected engine, a new touchscreen PCM system, and updated styling features.  Originally sold from Stoddard Porsche of Ohio at a sticker price of over $88k, this 997.2 comes factory equipped with 19” Carrera Classic wheels, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, Bose High-End Sound Package, and a 6-speed manual gearbox.  This 2009 example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York with just over 9,700 miles showing on the odometer.

This 997.2 is finished in nonmetallic Black and features clear protective film over the front bumper, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  The second-generation 997 debuted a revised front bumper with larger air intakes, LED daytime running lights, new LED taillights, and revised exterior mirrors.  This example rides on factory optioned 19” Carrera Classic featuring optional colored center crests and Bridgestone Potenza tires showing date codes from 2018.

Inside, this Carrera features a black standard leather interior with an Alcantara headliner and Power Comfort Seats with driver memory.  Additional factory equipment includes self-dimming mirrors, front seat heating, a Bluetooth Phone Interface, Universal Audio Interface, XM radio receiver, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, and a Navigation Module for PCM. All factory specifications have been retained and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

This second-generation 997 Carrera is equipped with a direct fuel-injected 3.6L flat-six engine that sends as much 345 HP and 287 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission.  0-60 MPH is achieved in as little as 4.7 seconds with a top speed of nearly 180 MPH.  The optional Sport Chrono Package Plus also allows the driver to adjust performance and suspension characteristics while underway.  CARFAX shows the last documented service to have been carried out by an authorized Porsche dealer in 2019 at 9,520 miles.  The results from a recent DME report are provided for reference in the photo gallery along with images of the underbody.

Offered with a clean title and less than 10k miles from new, this remarkable 6-speed 997.2 is an ideal choice for collectors and discerning enthusiasts alike.

I’m trying to get my head around this.
Pandemic = fewer new cars, used value increase
    Manual trans +
    Not an S -
    Low mileage +
    Low mileage - (issues ? )
Mass produced, water cooled Porsche. (Should be a minus)
Approx 95k new out the door
Approx 86k with fees, tax and delivery twelve years later .

I’m looking for an everyday driver, now I gotta start learning about newer turbocharged 911’s for roughly the same money. Or wait till the feeding frenzy subsides.

    @rustymcnul Yes, true. I think you're right.
    And the craziness will continue.

The other downside to only having 9k miles on a car like this is the fear of putting any extra miles on it all, fearing that you'll dimension its value. Kind of takes the joy out of owning it. But each to his own.

  • rustymcnul (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@kevintho911 if this one brought this much money, https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/2011-porsche-997-carrera-4s/

I could justify 70 or a tad more for the car here today. only 9k miles matters

  • kevintho911 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

This one is absolutely very nice with very low mileage; almost new. However, it’s not an S model and I’m surprised it’s being priced in that range. Maybe the market is crazier than I was imagining.

@Stuttgart_911 hello, appreciate the concern however, the car certainly has ever sustained any "hit". All panels are original and the meter readings are there for transparency. I have seen some cars leave the factory with a slightly higher readings due to quality control etc. I don't see any imperfections on the hood that indicate it is painted, however, if you want to assume it is for your comfort then you can do so. It has certainly never been replaced and there is no evidence of body work. I will have PCAR add some photos of the bolts and brackets to the gallery. Feel free to nit pick, but with barely any 997.2 models on the market, not only is this car in demand, it is surely one of the finest examples you will find anywhere. Please bid with confidence.

@kevintho911 Thank you. No one will be disappointed with this car.

  • Stuttgart_911 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Beautiful 997! No doubt this will do well. A few questions. The elcometer seems to show higher readings on the hood indicative of prior paintwork. Do you believe this to be the case? Has the front bumper been refinished in your opinion? Any indicators that this was in a front collision? If possible, please upload photos showing the bolts near the hood brackets and hood struts as well as areas under the plastic moldings which pop off and run along adjacent to the front fenders (under the hood). Paint readings are nice, but would love to view additional photos and hear your expert opinion on the originality of the paint and whether this car has taken a hit at some point.

  • kevintho911 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@CCSMOTORS Thank you for the reply. I’m not new to Porsches or the Porsche culture at all, having had four of them already. I was just wondering, and I think you’ve answered it, if there was anything you knew that it was needing, because it has had so little use - knowing that these PCars love to be driven (they prefer it) and to have their seals and gaskets and fluids all kept in operation and not just stored for months at a time - as a caution. Thanks. It is a gorgeous car, and you have presented it very well.

@kevintho911 Hello and thanks for the question. if you are new to the Porsche world, please be advised that older, low-mileage 911's do exist as they are usually cherished by their owners. We sold this car to the previous owner just a few years ago and performed any service necessary at the time. Upon this purchase just 2 years and approx 150 miles later, we went over the car finding only an oil service and filter change (preventative) to be necessary. We also road tested the vehicle putting a total of about 50 miles and the car is sublime! For peace of mind, a full DME report as well as paint meter readings have been provided. The car is also at our facility and we welcome any in person inspections PRIOR to bidding. We find no fault with this car as it should satisfy even the most discerning buyer.

  • DORAEMON 2 years, 11 monthsago

Do you still have all of the service records?

  • kevintho911 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@CCSMOTORS Having been driven so little, especially over the past couple years, should there be any concerns of hardened gaskets or seals? Would there be any necessary preparations before driving off on a long distance trip? I assume your dealership performs an incoming inspection, and documents / fixes any issues found before offering for sale. Do you have those inspection reports available to post in the gallery? Thanks in advance.

  • kevintho911 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how for the first six years of its life it had an average monthly mileage of less than 15/mo. Then for the last 24 or 25 months, looks like that average is even less, at less than 8 miles/month. According to the CarFax, only the second owner used it much at all. Seems odd unless it has been mostly in storage and obviously rarely driven. It's hard to tell, but I think the underside and paint look pretty normal for what I'd expect to see on a 2009. Underside is clean, but does show some normal exposure. I'd be surprised if it was always kept only in a showroom.

  • CCSMOTORS (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@fore150 hello, those are two separate companies. While there is an affiliation, PCARMARKET is a web platform for buyers and sellers to exchange vehicles and PCARMARKET does not own any vehicles. CCS Motors is a licensed and bonded vehicle dealer in the state of NY and CCS Motors is the owner and seller of this vehicle. This is a very transparent sale

  • CCSMOTORS (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

    @wadds1971 many thanks

  • fore150 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Isn't CCS Motors also PCARMarket, having a business at the same address? Perhaps conflict of interest? If so, perhaps a full disclosure would be best here... This absolutely has nothing to do with the sales or the condition of the car but perhaps the bidders ought to be aware.

  • wadds1971 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@CCSMOTORS - Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you with my questions about the engine. That internet you referred to is chock full of "information", as you said, but when it comes to the engines in water-cooled Porsches, it can be confusing. I was only trying to be absolutely certain that your 997.2 had its original engine, and that it was indeed the proper 9A1 variant. With this information, I will continue to follow your auction until the end. Good luck!

  • CCSMOTORS (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@OttoBozart correct tires are from 2018

I promise I’m trying to answer your question but it is a little off base. The title is FL however, I’m selling as a dealer so it makes no difference what state the title is from. You will be getting a clear FL title that is assigned to our dealership, a bill of sale and an MV50 which is an official NY dealer title reassignment that transfers ownership to you. You bring that to DMV with insurance and your drivers license and that is all you need.

  • OttoBozart (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

My bad, I just reread and saw the tires are dated 2018

  • OttoBozart (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@CCSMOTORS My interest in where the car is titled, is that I’m a Florida resident and title transfers are easy peasy on in state transfers. My other question was in reference to the date codes on the tires. I’m guessing that they are OME, considering the mileage.

@OttoBozart hello, we are a licensed, bonded and insured dealer in the state of NY, a clean and clear title will be assigned to the name of the buyer.

  • CCSMOTORS (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@wadds1971 yes this information is available anywhere on the internet. This is a 2009 997.2 with the redesigned engine. The engine is original to the vehicle and is in perfect running order. A DME report is included in the gallery Inspections are welcome

  • DrT (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

To the uninformed: 2009-early 2012 Carreras (both base 3.6 & the S with the 3.8 engine) are called 997.2s; all have the new redesigned engine and are considered the pinnacle of Porsche's 911. All 997.2s have the new more powerful engines (both 3.6 & 3.8) which eliminates the IMS bearing and with the new DFI (direct fuel injection) system which eliminates bore scoring. They are the last to have responsive hydraulic power steering before the 991's numb electric steering. They are also lighter & smaller than the later 991 which debuted when Volkswagen bought Porsche. The 991 is a move toward transforming the 911 into a LUXURY GT rather than the prior 997.2 being a LUXURY SPORTS CAR. Many consider the 991 a step in the wrong direction, explaining the rise in 997.2's value $8-10,000 in the past year. If you want one, buy it now; they're not getting any cheaper.

  • ChasEarp (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

This car with different wheels is my daily. Absolutely amazing car. 997.2s are shooting up in value.

  • wadds1971 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Thanks for the input. I did not find any reference to the engine # on pic 154, but after expanding the images of #144, 145, 147, and 150, I can see a reference to a number beginning in "9A1.....", which I assume is the engine number. Kind of a different location and representation than I've seen in other auctions, but I guess this confirms my belief that this car does have a 9A1 style engine. Good news!

  • alan111 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@wadds1971 All 997.2 come with the newer 9A1 motor. There never was a 997.2 with M97 motor.

  • Birdpalas (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Is the engine number noted in photo 154 correct?

  • OttoBozart (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

    Still titled in FL?

  • OttoBozart (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Could you please provide pictures of the tires, showing the date of manufacture. With 9500 miles I’m guessing they’re original and a little dry for spirited driving.

  • wadds1971 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

I'm pretty sure that this '09 Carrera was supposed to have the newer 9A1 engine installed, instead of the previous M97 engine with the infamous IMS bearing. @CCSMOTORS, could you verify this by posting the engine number of this car? Thanks!
