Among the rarest Porsche 997 variants, the exclusively all-wheel-drive Targa model boasts a distinctive sliding glass roof system and an opening rear hatch. One of less than 500 units of the 997.2 Targa 4 models produced for the 2009 model year, this inaugural-year example comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Black standard leather. Configured at an original MSRP of over $101k, it features a navigation module for PCM, Bluetooth connectivity, the Bose High-End Sound Package, Power Comfort seats, front seat heating and ventilation, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, dynamic corning headlights, and more. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Oregon with approximately 63k miles showing on the odometer.

This 997.2 comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and can be distinguished as a Targa by its sliding glass top and unique chrome accents along the roofline. As an all-wheel-drive model, it features a reflector band spanning between the taillights. Other details include a speed-activated rear spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and optional dynamic cornering headlights. It rides on upgraded 19” Carrera S II wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires mounted in 2021 at 58k miles. The seller suspects spiderwebbing caused by delamination on the inside of the right headlight lens, only visible when closely examined from the side, although the functionality remains uncompromised. Under previous ownership, the bumpers underwent paint correction to address rock chips and were subsequently resprayed before the application of front-end paint protection film. Slight signs of road wear are noted, and additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents Black standard leather upholstery. Passengers benefited from the expanded glass roof introduced in the 997.2 facelift, which offered improved UV protection, blocking approximately two-thirds of sunlight. Optional equipment includes heated/ventilated Power Comfort Seats including driver memory functions and Porsche-crested headrests, self-dimming mirrors, navigation for Porsche Communication Management (PCM), Bluetooth connectivity, universal audio interface, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and a 6-disc CD changer. The seller has observed signs of leather wear consistent with mileage, while the rubber and lettering on the knobs have maintained their original appearance. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be working properly.

Power is provided by a 3.6-liter flat-six engine rated at 345 HP and 287 lb.-ft of torque sent to all four wheels through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH can be achieved in as little as 5 seconds, continuing to a top speed of 177 MPH. Stopping power is provided by fixed 4-piston calipers and ventilated cross-drilled disc brakes. An FVD Brombacher Street Sport exhaust has been fitted, and the OEM exhaust is said to accompany the sale. The seller adds that a Pre-Purchase Inspection was conducted by Marque Motors of Portland, Oregon, in May 2023, and an oil change was performed in May 2023, approximately 1,200 miles ago.

This sale will include a clean title, two keys, owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a battery charger, sales literature, service records, three binders of photo documentation, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

The seller would like you to know: “For your consideration: a rare, fully sorted 2009 997.2 Targa 6-speed manual. 63,150 miles. Arctic silver, black interior. Only ~3,450 997.2 Targa 4/4S were made worldwide and only ~10% of them were 6-speed manual. Clean title in hand!

HIGHLY optioned: sport chrono package, power seats w/ driver memory, navigation module, Bluetooth, high-end Bose sound system, self-dimming mirrors, heated AND ventilated seats, dynamic cornering lights, and 6-disc changer. The entire front end, mirrors, and A-pillars are professionally PPF’d.

Fully stock except for the FVD Brombacher exhaust currently installed. I have the stock exhaust. It comes with extra floor mats and 3 full binders of service records and photos documenting its journey from the previous owner.

A full PPI was conducted by Marque Motors in Portland, OR before I bought this 911 last May and still have the records which I will share with serious buyers. The only thing of note that is not in the PPI is the right headlight. I believe it is spiderwebbing that is due to delamination on the inside. It is only noticeable when looking at it closely from the side. It is not raised or cracked, so the integrity of the headlight is not compromised. The tires were replaced at 58,023 miles, so they have ~5,000 miles on them. The only thing that needs servicing is an oil change which was accomplished during the PPI 1,200 miles ago. Finally, the Targa top and the shade screen are fully functional with no hiccups.

I am only selling this to free up space and money for another P-Car that is on order. This is a car that I absolutely love to drive. The analog feel, connection to the vehicle via the manual transmission, and strong engine all make up a rather emotional experience. I am confident the next buyer will share the same experience and quickly become connected to the vehicle. This Targa will hold a special place in my heart and I hope it’ll go to another special owner.”

@JWaic to answer your question, it is a bracket in the tow hook compartment. As asked by another prospective buyer, I do have the cover for that part of the bumper if you wish to remove it.

This targa was previously my car. It has an outstanding service history and I thoroughly enjoyed it driving up an down Highway 101 along the Oregon coast. It is an excellent well sorted example and always brought a smile with each mile :)
The current owner (and seller) is an absolute gentleman and fellow Porsche aficionado. I know he is having serious reservations about selling this special targa, but he was able to get an allocation for a new GT car, so he must make space in the garage.
The car itself and seller are extraordinary. Bid and buy with complete confidence!

  • Jessannjoh (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

Gorgeous car! Do you still have the cap that covers the whole for the front tow hook? I noticed the front tag bracket used that point of attachment. Our state doesn’t require front tags.

  • DZP (seller) 1 week, 6 daysago

@vido thank you! Please ask all of the questions. I like being as transparent as possible to prevent any unwanted surprises, which the pictures, information provided, and binders full of records are testament to that.

The exhaust still has the original cats and it didn’t have any problems passing the OR emissions last year with the Brombacher exhaust installed.

  • vido (registered bidder) 1 week, 6 daysago

this is lovely and well presented. I’ll have a few questions but curious if the exhaust passes california smog. if not, others are moot :)

please let me know. thanks much

Are you possibly available this weekend to show the car? I'm local (SW Portland).

  • DZP (seller) 2 weeksago

@KingP993 The rubber shock absorbers are worn, not the shocks themselves. Tim from Marque Motors stated they were still serviceable and weren’t worn enough to be addressed.

The minor rust was only on axles and misc engine parts, which is consistent with the age, not from exposure to salt or harsh environments.

  • KingP993 (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

hello, did you change the shocks which showed as worn on the PPI? and were any of the rusted pieces addressed? thanks
